I can't tell where the sarcasm is, but if true, that's super cool. We had a French glaciologist come speak to our high school last week and the kids adored her talk. Tellyouwhat, if you can talk to 300 teenagers about glaciers for 40 minutes and have them still raving about it three days later, that's some Jedi-level public speaking talent.

Yeah, it's been a solid, reliable car. Bridgestone Blizzaks in the winter give me savage traction. I only wish it had a bit more ground clearance.

Got these free from a guy on Epic so I could teach myself waxing and tuning without wrecking my own skis. If anyone wants these to learn tuning on, to make a shotski, or whatever you want to do with them, let me know. Happy to pass them on.

I had a little financial midlife crisis over the past couple of years. I never did any expensive sports or anything until I started MTB and skiing recently, and I was like "Fuck it, I'm old and don't have much time left to enjoy this, I'm getting nice stuff!!" And so I did. But now I don't need any more stuff, just time to enjoy it.

Different skis, the Soul Riders sold on Ebay and a pair of ON3P twin tips sold at Buckmans. I went a little bonkers when I first started back skiing and bought a couple things I didn't end up using. Live and learn. I still love demo-ing because I can't get over how amazing skis are now compared to 30 years ago. Don't need to do any more purchasing for a long while, though.

That would make it easy to find you guys, anyway. Maybe a fire pit out front?

Whitehall Buckmans at 5-ish today was pretty underwhelming. Someone bought my skis, though, so yay!

Good to know. If I sell everything I dropped off, Imma get a nice Swix iron and a lifetime supply of wax.

Remember, if you drop stuff off at Buckmans and it sells you get store credit, not cash.

I actually didn't care for any of the skis I demoed at Blue, and I suspect it's because their shop detuned them to the point of leaving very underwhelming edge grip. I ended up buying the Volkl RTM 84, which I demoed at CBK, and every single ski I tried there was razor-sharp.

The do have pretty interesting selection of demo skis. I think last year I tried the Head Super Shapes, Monster 88, Elan Ripstik, some sort of giant Armada twin-tip just for fun, ...I forget what else. I think JD said they'll have Nordica skis this year. You get 3 for $60 and can ski as much as you want on each. Camelback has the same deal, just different brands: Volkl, Line, and Atomic were the ones I remember. Worth it if you have $60 to play with--I enjoy demoing--, or you're seriously considering one or two skis in the lineup.

Are they actually taking the jumps and features off Sidewinder? How do you know? That would be awesome . I saw them once blowing snow into the "glades". Lol. It just freezes into giant ruts that people seem to run like bobsled tracks before they come shooting out of control onto Lazy Mile.

It'll be the last weekend in October in the valley lodge cafeteria area. Last year they did a video preview the day prior where the shop manager walked around and showed everything they were selling, so you could tell if it was worth getting there first thing. Seemed like they had nice stuff.

I was mountain biking; enjoyed the heckling from the chairs. Started to go over to the 'fest to grab a quick lunch, but I was too sober to be that close to a cover band. That's good training discipline. Respect.

The chairlift at Blue yesterday was freezing cold and full of drunk people. Getting closer...

Since they're not gonna be working on the trail, maybe Blue's trail team can pick up a rake or two and make the MTB trails a tiny bit less full of giant, menacing, loose rocks. Jaysus.

I just started doing yoga; it's way more f-ing difficult than I thought, and more of a serious workout. Whew. Those yoga girls are badasses; you should check it out.

Lol, I got new swag this year because I lost a bunch of weight. Even got new ski boots; I could never make those Salomons work despite completely annoying everyone at True Blue with my boot-issue visits. (Come to think of it, fuck them for being annoyed: I spent a ton of money there last year...) Anyway. Game on. 101 posts!
