  1. I think for the older guns being replaced it's more like 15:1 or 20:1 replacement. That's why I think they'll be almost a whole trail ahead, that's how much air they're saving. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  2. About running out of water - it has been dry. I don't think changing which guns are used will change how much water a trail needs, right? So if they don't have enough, for example, to cover Dreamweaver and Burma then that won't be because of the new guns. About an opening plan - 49 super efficient guns are probably easier to run early season than the same number of old school manual guns - just look at how they handle Valley School. So if I had to guess, since they're kind of the same guns, Burma and Valley School could open around the same time? Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  3. If they're swapping out 49 guns from the old style to the high efficiency kind, that's about enough firepower to start up Dreamweaver or nearly Razors. I know that most of us don't spend a ton of time on Burma, but getting a trail ahead seems pretty good. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  4. If they were automating Yeti, I think there's have been 'automating/upgrading TWO TRAILS' on their social media. These look like new energy efficient guns, so hopefully Blue can put the serious firepower somewhere else and just let Burma run like Valley School does. If this was discussed elsewhere, I didn't see it, sorry. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  5. Nobody mentioned Blue posted these pictures? They say they're for Burma, 49 new guns. Sent from my XP8800 using Tapatalk
  6. https://m.facebook.com/SkiCamelback/videos/605600163613287/?refsrc=https%3A%2F%2Fm.facebook.com%2FSkiCamelback%2Fvideos%2F605600163613287%2F&_rdr And Camelback is saying it’s just them and Montage making snow. I’m glad to hear Blue is still running when they can.
  7. I remember condition reports about snowmaking in March last year. Naturally I didn’t save em so there’s no proof.
  8. Double to Widowmaker-Chute-Main was great, may have decayed since I went in. I went over there after the line went past the readers on the quad. Racing has summit school hill closed too, for the special olympics. Looks like Nightmare is locked down hard to keep the boardercross restricted - I wonder when that’ll get open. Late Sunday? Monday?
  9. I got a chance to ask Someone who Knows and they said skiers left bumps is because of prevailing winds and snowmaking - more often they can dust over bumps on skiers let without needing a full rebuild - take that with a grain of road salt.
  10. Being a non-bump ignoramus what’s different this year to prior years now that there’s bumps on Main Street? I get that it took a while to get ‘em set but besides that?
  11. First day open is almost always rough for a trail. Whether it gets tilled wet or just pushed flat wet, until it’s had a few days to fully dry there are tons of lumps and cookies.
  12. I wonder if Challenge conditions held after they made on it last night. With Razors closed I’m sure it’s seeing higher traffic.
  13. Upper main got guns on last night, but come around midway lower main was great. Seems like a heavy focus on Razors - doesn’t that have to be edge to edge pretty soon here?
  14. I was referring to up topic where RidgeRacer was wondering why Blue wasn’t resurfacing.
  15. It’s hard to resurface anything at 30 degrees - I’m glad I wasn’t skiing through that slop! Put it down as base snow, sure, just not where I have to ski through it.
  16. Looks like Burma is pretty stacked. I can’t imagine they sit on that for too much longer.
  17. I’ll say it again, Home Stretch was bare until last night. There’s mud tracks on Midway on skier’s right where the cats hit dirt. There’s two inches of rain coming. More than likely some of the Wed-Thurs snowmaking has to go back and patch trails that are already open, and two nights is not a lot of time to open Home Stretch from next to nothing. I’d only say 50-50 for the valley this coming weekend.
  18. Tuts looks ready to rumble, but Home Stretch was bare. I doubt we see the valley before this next weekend - and if they lose depth/coverage in the 2” rain and have to go back ...
  19. Different guns. The Vista guns have their own air compressors, so do the ones on the ski school flat and right by the valley lifts. Most of the other guns need the big central compressors to be running.
  20. I hadn’t heard the new cat broke, is it kaput or just needs some parts?
  21. So a new cat, and there was a concrete truck doing something by the valley lodge today. I couldn't stop to snoop, anyone know if that's related to the other construction?
  22. Wait, lights AND snowmaking?
  23. I guess they couldn't wait for Black Friday? For anyone not getting a Blue pass it seems like a good deal. $99 for off-peak or $129 unlimited. It does seem pretty early in the season, but I don't think they're discounted more than usual.
  24. That has to have been dry snowmaking that didn't see a tiller before opening. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
  25. What's the consensus on the rollers on Sidewinder? I hope they stay, but I don't ski at mach 8 either. Sent from my Life Max using Tapatalk
