  1. It's amazing how good man made snow can be, isn;'t it? We skied man made snow over bumps at montage last weekend. So edgeable and smooth...snow making has come a long way.
  2. Anyone have a handle on the weather? Some calling rain Sat., some rain Sunday....trying to make a plan to finally see the new 6 pack!
  3. Wow. Glad you guys got some! That heavy snow sometimes is better than light powder. Bonds to the icy man made better after it starts forming bumps, it becomes really nice to ski. It's just not easy turning first tracks kind of stuff.
  4. enjoy! roads are crap here. Thought about making a run at it but we'd still be driving....
  5. Wow - that's awesome. Just turning to snow here in central NJ. Looks like catskills cancelled the storm warming. Pokes really are the winners here.
  6. i asked them if the lifts were going to work tomorrow, or if there was going to be a repeat of 1-7-2024. Lol.
  7. Lol. Great pic. Looks fun!
  8. I'm not expecting powder. Just soft conditions. I'm imaging a dense snow that holds up, but maybe that's a pipe dream, and everything is skied out and scraped off in a few hours.
  9. I was thinking it would still be pretty soft if you get 10-12" of soft snow...but maybe you're right.
  10. So how packed will night skiing tomorrow be if the storm hits? I guess you guys haven't seen mad crushes of humanity after that one weekend in Dec. right?
  11. How's the storm looking for mighty Blue? Tuesday powder night?
  12. I've only been once, but that mountain owes us something...we were there in march 2020 for the kick-off of Covid! American Style! Short version: College friends trip. As Covid started showing up in the US, we were all wondering what to do. One of the guys is from Seattle - the first hot spot! And he was sick! Doctor said it was probably a sinus infection. We decided to go for it. The snow sucked day one. The snow sucked day two. We found pockets here and there but mostly is was frozen stale crud. At this point, they took the tram and gondi to half capacity. Dumped snow that night and we woke up to 12-15" - our last day of a three day trip. Skiing was awesome. Just insane. Snowed hard all day. They closed the tram. Ride Gondi with party members only. Restaurants and bars were getting squirrely. Two party members decided to pull the plug and changed flights to head home as schools and offices were starting to close. Put a damper on an otherwise perfect day. We didn't get to ride the tram on a powder day, and we all were a little freaked out, so was hard to really relax and enjoy it. Snowed all night the next day would have been even better, but they closed the resort. We had all changed our flights to early departures and all but one got out before the storm shut the airport down. Strange trip. We haven't been back yet but I think next year....
  13. Do you guys ever consider other mountains, or is it always JH?
  14. They won't tolerate lift lines a minute over an hour. They are principled that way.
  15. I like the trend of leaving whales alone and let people ski 'em. Seems like more and more places are adopting this strategy. Super fun.
  16. Worth the $156 ticket for sure!
  17. I really think a of this had to have been Ikon driven. It's not going to get any better...
  18. Got it. Go full Ikon next year?
  19. Oh my sweet baby Jesus... I think Alta at X-mas was like $180, half that with the gold card. That's absolute lunacy.
  20. Why did you switch to CB?
  21. The gates should be closer to the loading area, and an attendant should be pairing up the six outside the gate and sending them through as a group of 6.
  22. Wow, they are getting roasted on FB. Were tickets really $165 for sunday?
  23. Well, this all sounds terrible. We drove to Belleayre, and the drive utterly sucked. Was going fine - normal snow delays, like 20minutes behind on a 2:45 drive....then 2 miles from the access road, we waited an hour due to a tough accident. They were parking people in lots I didn't know existed when we made the turn. Never seen so many cars.... We found a spot at the upper lodge access road with about a mile hike to the Tomahawk. Despite the crazy crowds, the hawk and lift 7 were under ten minutes all day. the quad and gondi were absurd. I pulled the plug early because of the long drive in, but all in all, a good day. Sorry Blue was the suck...hope this storm tues. doesn't blow everything up and make us start over...EC skiing is tough these days...
