    Parks

Welcome to PASR Some advice for the park, don't be afraid to go fast at things, if you go too slow, you will have a greater chance of getting hurt (especially if they are things like rainbows and battleships, you wouldn't want to get stuck on something like that). Also, whenever I hit something for the first time, I always unstrap and take a look at it before I hit it. Usually most rails, boxes, etc. look much bigger than they actually are from the drop in because of the mountain's slope angle.
  2. What about the possibility of riding MC late, then staying at a hotel right by blue for the night, then having an early morning session at blue on monday, judging its a national holiday, and I'm off from school, and most people are off from work....it seems like a good idea. That way nobody has to drive home or get picked up at blue late at night...we can all just leave whenever the next day, and possibly get a group rate at a hotel.
  3. I wanted the pink, but got yellow...oh well Also make sure you wax that thing up after like 3 days....just looked at my base today and the factory wax job is all hacked up around the edges, and is grooved all over the place from just normal rail and box riding.
  4. Well, I just let my mom cool over time and now she's OK with everything... Turned out she was really not in the best mood, she was at a funeral. So yea, Metz, I'm in for a ride. And for the record, I'm an only child....haha

    THANKS!!!

yeah when i was up at bc wednesday, the conditions sucked but still was good in my book because that was another day on snow. I don't live the closest to the slopes so my time is limited somewhat.
  6. I went riding at Camelback Christmas eve, stayed in the lodge for the night, then hit up Jack Frost on Christmas Day. I also went to BC on wednesday....
  7. Yeah I agree. Blue is really pushing this box thing this season, I like rails a whole lot more. Basically no balance is involved with a box.
  8. Good deal.... If you get the new dominant you will REALLY like it.
  9. I'm from the suburbs of NE, like practically in the suburbs but still in philly. I'm right by Krewstown Rd, if you know that.
  10. My school has a once a year outing for juniors to Bear Creek.
  11. gahhhhhh! My mom just completely went nuts about this ride thing. Right now she isn't letting me go. She thinks that I'm getting a ride with some crazed serial killer that thrives on PASR members or something...... So basically the only way I can go is to prove to my mom that I'm NOT riding with some serial killer, and I need a way to figure out how to do that.
  12. Wow, I can't wait for the 15th. I thought I would never be riding MC this year. I know it'll be crowded, but i'm thinking the beginner slopes and stuff will take the most impact, MC has that Burton LTR center there. Also I know i'll be in the park 99% of the time, and since you need a park pass, etc. the park may not be as crowded. This is going to be soooooo sick, I am so exicited to ride MC's park. This is going to improve my riding so much.
  13. Yea, living in philly sucks. Good street spots for some urban riding and bmx, but other than that it sucks ass to get to a mountain. Bear Creek is an hour on a good day, it may not seem like much but my mom like I said doesn't ski or ride, and has no desire to learn. That means its 4 hours of driving for her in one day.....
  14. Blue is closer, and prefered Just give me a time and meeting place, along with how we will work out gas money...
  15. The double chair is mainly used to service the park. The quad is the closest lift to get you to the top....you could easily take broadway or bear pass to get to the other side of the mountain. To make a park pass work, they would need to put the entrance gates right after bear pass on blue bear. That way if someone accidentally winds up at the park, they can still take bear pass to get out of there without being screwed. The only run that intersects with the main park is lower kodiak....which can be solved with a fence. Blue bear basically isn't even a run, just a run up to the first booter for those that want to hit the park, or a passage to bear pass/upper kodiak for those that took the quad. If you think about it, they only run the straight on intersects with the main park is cascade, and that is a park anyway. They already have entrances to the park clearly visible. All they need to do is make a few changes of the location and have someone enforce it. I think they should just dedicate the double lift to park service only, meaning you need a park pass to get on that lift. It would be a lot easier than checking at the run, since they already scan your ticket in the lift line anyway. Then they could just block off the entrance to cascade from the lift ramp on, letting people who got off the lift a direct enterance to the park without any hassle, with another enterance at that same gate for people who took the quad, where they would show their park pass.
  16. I wish I could go, but I went to BC yesterday, and since I lack a car and license, its all about my mom taking me up for an hour drive, and she doesn't ski or snowboard, so most likely the answer will be no for a ride. I can't wait until next year when I can drive. I'm getting a season pass to BC, and a job over the summer to pay for it, gas, and insurance....... I hate living in Philly for the most part. Its always a bitch to go snowboarding because of the ride situation.
  17. Ha I REALLY want to hit up creek with PASR, is there a possibility I could snag a ride with you papa or somebody? I'd be willing to chip in for gas and can be at any resort in PA you want. I really want to go!!!
  18. I know Blue is upping their park this year.... When I was there they only had the Terrain Run open, but they had a nice kicker there. The only problem I have with sidewinder is that it is all twisty turny, which I think is not the best run for a park. I'd prefer a nice easy slope thats really wide.
  19. Yeah I seen them put those pits in the jumps...turns out they were just using that snow to rebuild the lips of the jumps, with these conditions they need to utilize every bit of snow they had.
  20. Yeah, I seen some guy with his kid on a leash in the park, come on. These kids are killing me. They pretty much have no awareness or etiquete in park at all. They need to understand that there could be somebody going faster at that one hit. Also, I HATE getting cut off from a hit that I'm hiking, or I've sat and waited for my turn. Basically on wednesday I seen everything that you shouldn't do in a park....

    12/28 Report

Went up to BC today, from about 11 till 5. Jam packed around 12:30, the lift lines were crazy on the quad. The snow was really slushy, pretty much spring conditions. The coverage in the park was horrible at some spots. LOTS of bare spots and mud sticking through the snow. The hubba was so bad, it was practically unhitable, there was a huge hole in the snow with mud at the landing. The only stuff that was good was the rainbow box, flat rail with gap, trap rail, flat box, and teardrop rail. There was a kicker, my guess around 20 feet, which was in good condition (nobody really hit it that much), a pretty steep hip/table (could be hit either way), and another table, which was in real bad condition. I didn't ride the smaller park, but from looking at it at the lift, they had two small tables, triple triangle box, short ride-on flat rail, a gap on short flat rail, picnic table, and another tabletop.
  22. I agree halfway on the park pass issue. It would help keep the people out of there that shouldn't be there, but even still there would be tons of kids that have no idea what they are doing in the park anyway. Basically, It would be exactly the same way it is now, maybe without some rental weekenders, but it would just be an inconvienience to everyone. Today up at BC, I had a couple problems in the park... I was going to hit the first jump, so I got a whole lot of speed....everything seems fine. All of a sudden, some little kid going maybe 2 MPH cuts me off at the jump. I had no other choice than to try my best to stop and not get killed, which happened anyway. Also, a TON of people have a tendency to park their asses right on the landing of the first kicker off of blue bear, the one time I did hit it I nearly killed some kid that was just parked there, which once again I paid the price for.
  23. I'm going up to BC tomorrow to enjoy what it seems like the last day of riding for a bit.
  24. So I check the weather for thursday, because I was supposed to head up to BC, and I see a forcast for RAIN from thursday through saturday, then on monday and tuesday of the following week! AND to boot, on the days that it WON'T be raining, the temps will be nowhere CLOSE to being cold enough to make snow. It looks like most resorts in PA will have some issues!! Thursday seems to be the hard hitter, with a 80% chance of precip, a high of 50 and a low of 32....by god. Friday and Saturday seem to be not so much of a threat though, with a 30% chance of precip on friday and 40% on Saturday, just a few on and off showers, with a high of 48 low of 31 for both days, which means there may be a SLIGHT chance it may turn into a snow shower.... And if you thought that was enough, on Monday there will be above freezing temps and showers, and on Tuesday a 60% chance of precip with above freezing temps! It will get to a low of 25 on tuesday night, but still be warm for the whole next week! This is REALLY going to affect the snow quality of not only BC, but a ton of places here in PA. From what I've heard, there already is a coverage problem going on at BC, and that they are making snow tonight to help with this....but with a ton of rain for the next week, there will definatly be a major problem.... I am checking the weather closely all week, as I am off from school and have nothing else better to do, and I'll keep everyone updated.
  25. Yes the c box was up, it was pretty good. I also forgot about the wallride, that was nice aswell. CB's park was decent overall, and besides, I got invited to stay at the chalet there and ride for free for a day anyway, so it was worth it
