Have a plate in my knee from mine.
Yikes. Luckily I did not need surgery, just lots and lots of PT.
@RidgeRacer we went to Ryce last night! Tried for burgers at The Last Steep but sadly sign said closed for the season.

And I WAS enjoying my zen. First bluebird day I feel like I have had all season. Legs felt good, Sarah was cracking me up, no lift lines, no wind. Pretty damn good day.

Great first day back at Cb! Hasn’t snowed in a few days here so the groomers were fun and fast. I thought the bumps would be rough since they looked icy but they were fun too.
started on the Silver Queen down to Paradise Bowl. Did 3 runs there then headed over to East River. There is a run called Black Eagle one half is groomed the other half bumped. We lapped that a bunch dipping in and out of the bumps
Sarah
Had a snack at the Umbrella Bar and did some east laps off that side. I ended my day after 12 runs, Sarah stayed longer.
Had a weird conversation w a guy on the shuttle home:
Guy: I always wondered if the band makes those skis (talking about my Black Crows)
me: just gave him a funny look
guy: so do you like their music?
me: they’re ok
after a 5 minute silence
guy: (don’t even realize he is talking to me at first) So I did one long top to bottom run today. I am going to get my car and head over to Monarch so I can ski two places in one day. Probably just do one run there and come home.
me: just gave him a funny look and said ok

Thought that might be the Monarch butterfly. I have a Ouray buff that looks exactly the same. So glad you guys are having a great trip!

Basically boiled hot dogs individually wrapped with no accoutrements (thanks blue for only having the pump/cup condiments, not packets) in an insulated funny pack.
Ngl it hit the spot tho. Would do it again.
Pump/cup condiments are where it’s at.

You guys take really good pictures. Love that one with the Black Crow skis in the shot.

Tackled Tiehack Today! Say that 5x’s fast. There are 3 uphill routes at Buttermilk and Tiehack is the hardest. I had planned to bust it out by the end of the season but my friend is up here with me and it’s her birthday today. So I asked her if she wanted to suffer and she said yes.
The x games begin this weekend so getting her pass was a challenge w parking in the main lot. Then we drove over to the Tiehack lot snd it was full, luckily someone was just leaving and we snagged that spot. The lot is right below the lift, so convenient.
forecast was for clouds but we did have a bit of sun. Temps about 16 degrees.
When looking it up the stats show 1.75 miles up with 1700’ of elevation gain. My watch tracked 1.5 miles and 1847’. Let’s just say it was steep. The skimo crowd was passing us like we were standing still. It was funny after a while. I could barely speak I was so out of breath and they would come in hot on our heels and say hello with no difficulty.
Almost to the top.
The ski down was fun, we were pooped. Snow quality was really nice too.

Very spoiled here. There was one 5 min wait in Ajax lift. The rest we skied right on.

It was warm. If I brought a tank top I would have been rocking it.

The tour we had decided on did not look good from an avalanche perspective on the topo map. Lots of slides lately so we wanted to keep it mellow. Found a spot near the Reudi Reservoir 30 miles outside Basalt. Did not see another person today so that was nice. Did 2 miles up and 1300’ then turned around.

@GrilledSteezeSandwich ski down was uneventful. My touring skis are fatter than my other ones. Always feels weird skiing on them first few times. Legs were a bit tired.
@theprogram4 haha didn’t notice that. Guess someone really had to go.

Tis a glorious winter wonderland here in Marble.
Decided to go skinning at Buttermilk. Buttermilk logistic are so freaking easy. The main parking lot is right at the bottom of the lift. There are 3 skin routes, I chose West Buttermilk since it’s the easiest and this was my first real uphill day. About 1200’ of vert. The parking for W Buttermilk is right in the trail! You walk out of your car and step on the snow.
Stopped at the top at the Cliff House for a little water break. Overcast skies but warm temps.
2 storms rolling in this week. Woohoo!

Easier for the government to monitor.
That’s why I am not a fan. The $600 thing is bullshit too. When my friends pay me back thru Venmo for trips, am I going to have to justify it? Just annoying.

I really hate that we seem to be going towards a cashless society.

Didn’t see them, pretty cool though.

Love seeing those pics! Like deja vu! That train board, Kalpetran, stop on request. I can still hear that in my head. Zermatt is a beautiful town, enjoy.

My instructor was great! One of my issues is that I tend to squat down too much when I get nervous. One run she went behind me the whole time and every time she saw me doing thst she screamed “stand the fuck up.” It helped. 😂.

Thanks! Looking forward to going back and exploring some more terrain. Our class mostly did the terrain off the Ajax express lift. We concentrated on 5 or 6 bump runs and did them over and over. It was nice to know what to expect and the bumps did change day to day.

The plan was to go to Winter Park with a bunch of girlfriends. It ended up being just me.
got on the gondola shortly after 8:30 and people definitely slept in. Did 2 hours of non committal bumps on the sides of the runs. Light pretty flat, very windy at the top.
Then I scoped out a forest road for winter camping near the resort. They will let you camp in G-Lot, but you have to keep it super low key. No fires, no cooking outside etc. We keep talking about doing an overnight. The place I checked out looked pretty good. Have to see if I can get the final word if it’s legal.
nice big spot at the end of the plowed road.

Did some uphill at the resort this morning. Was -5 when we got out of the car. Started about 6:45ish. Sarah went all the way up to the top of Paradise lift. I stopped half way up. She was so much faster then me I felt bad she was waiting so I told her just to go.
Had a boot fitting appt right after and got some sweet new touring boots! Can’t wait to rest them out.
