  1. Thanks guys! Hopefully the snow gods smile upon us this weekend!
  2. Planning an outing with a couple of friends and was wondering which day of the weekend is less crowded. Thanks
  3. I was also there on Saturday with my 23 yo son. Great day as others have posted above, no line, snow was probably the best conditions I have skied in a long time. I got to meet KC, he was all over the mountain. Introducted my self to him and chatted for a few minutes. Very nice man, that me and my son for coming up, very gracious. The 25 dollar deal was great and the ticket was marked till 1300 (1pm). Awesome day. Cannonball was our run of the day, kind of steep at one headwall for an old guy like me, but with the great conditions it was a breeze.
  4. Thanks guys I did not initially see the listing on the website. My eyes aint what they used to be, thats why they call me oldtimeskier. See you there tomorrow at 8:30am
  5. Thinking of heading up with my son. Let hope they honor the specail on MLK weekend. I emailed them yesterday and I have not received any response. I guess we could ask for KC. The special was also listed on their Facebook page last week.
  6. ASkier assume as you are listed as an Admin you help run the site and maybe started? Thanks for the work and the site. I enjoy it and as you noted it motivates us to get out and enjoy this great winter sport. Happy B-Day!
  7. Up for a full day with my 20 yo before he returns to PSU on Sunday. Wonderful snow as usual for JF. They were blowing all day on Lehigh and Exhibition, should be open tomorrow or Saturday. We counted 29 runs, our butts are kicked. Crowds were very light in the morning but picked up in afternoon, no wait lines at any lift though. Used my CBS deal 22 dollar lift tickets, great day. Love JF, just wish the runs were a little longer. Oh well, can't have everything! Unfortunately late in the day a young man was hurt in the terrain park and was down getting attention for about 30 minutes. Hope he is ok.
  8. Just back from a good trip. Skied Crotched Mountain on Thursday with about 9 inches and light snow throughout the day. Crowds were light due to the weather and the mountain was about 80 percent open. They just installed a high speed quad that they bought from Ascutney when it closed. I have skied crotched about four times over the last ten years, it is a great little mountain by NH standards, prolly as big as Elk and bigger than Jack Frost. It is run by Peak Resorts and like JF, they do a great job with the snow making. Skied Mount Sunappee on Friday. About sixty percent open and very crowded. Nice scenary and nice vibe. Love NH sking and already planning for next year a week long trip. I have to coordinate with my son in college and my son who works in Virginia to get a good week when not holiday season. THey will ski with the old man as long as I buy the lift tickets, lodging and most of the beer! Back in Doylestown....thank God winter has come back, we have missed you!!! To all my PASR friends enjoy the good conditions and the remainder of the holiday season. Jim
  9. Heading to NH tomorrow with my two grown boys who are home for the holidays for some sking for me and boarding for them. Planning on hitting Crotched on day one for some loosening up as it is five minutes from my famliy;s place Not sure if my body (knees and back) will hold up, but after preliminairies we are heading to Loon and Bretton Woods. If I can figure out how to use a I-Phone I will post a report and pics. Big time storm moving in for tomorrow night. For one of the feww times in my life, appears as though my timing is right! Happy Holidays!!!
  10. Got the deal also with the cyber5 discount. Three tickets for $66 hard to beat. Thanks,

  12. Ditto KC thanks for the updates. You are an asset to whomever ownes the mountain now. I did not make it up this year as I hurt my back. Was up twice last year and really enjoyed the good snow, non-crowds and the bar was not bad either. See you next year.
  13. Thanks for all the advice/insight. Did go today with my two college age sons. Overall a good day, as noted above more crowded than usual. The snow condition was fantastic, much better than Camelback on Wednesday. Very crowded between 11am and 1:30pm, but then started to thin out. Fair amount of "party peope" however they were well behaved.
  14. Up today with my college age boys and a friend. First time at CB. Conditions very nice, some icy spots, but overall good. They said 17 trails were open, not sure about that. They are blowing on a number that appear to be ready to open in the near future. Love the two high speed quads, WOW what a difference. Not crowded and no wait in any line. Overall a very favorable experience. I have read that this place can be a zoo on weekends and holidays, but it was nice today. Would go back again mid week. Bought tickets off of Liftopia for $38. Would use that site again.
  15. Tickets are still available (when I checked last night). Have never attended, but have seen comments on this board that it can be a zoo. Anyone have any experience? I was figuring for 10 bucks if I got there early and got out by 1p it might be worth it. Thanks - Happy New Year!
  16. EC: I have family in the Milford, NH area and have visited Crotched many times. It is a small mountain by NH standards, but nice just the same. Probably similar in size to JF. The terrain is challenging, the conditions are usually very good and it is never crowded. Even over the Christmas holidays when other places are mobbed, Crotched is a great alternative. Never been to Mt. Snow or Attitash.
  17. That sucks. I always had a similar comfort zone that my equipment is not worth much.
  18. Wow.............this could go on forever. Let everyone in for free!!!!

    Elk 1/5/10

I said in my post "mini" VT or NH. Like on a "smaller" scale. It is a pictureque small mountain near home. It is not a shit show like CB or Blue. That was all i was saying.

    Elk 1/5/10

Owen agree with you about every mountain having pluses and minuses. My 21 yo son (college discount) just came through the door here in Doylestown after spending the day at elk. He has been there before, as have I. I could not get off from work today, or I would have been there with you guys. Elk is a great mountain with a great "feel". It does feel like a mini Vermont or NH. Definitely best in PA. Have you tried Sno Mt.? Certainly no way as near as pretty, but a good mountain just the same. Was at Jack Frost two weeks ago for the first time. Nice little Mt. also. I like them all, other than Blue Mt. Maybe because my younger son went out of there in an ambulance with a concussion. Death cookie victim. Not just that. Blue just has a low class feel to me from the trash on the lift paths to the stinky lodge. I won't go to Bear Creek any longer also, that place is a day care center! Oh well, glad you had a good day. I am hoping to get up to Elk a couple of times this year.
  22. Not knocking anyone about their opinions of Sno. Seriously that's why the say "opinions are like assholes......." Sno is like no other mountain I have been to. As others have said the layout must have been done my someone on crack, or someone bought a piece of property shaped like a t-bone steak! With that being said, it is never crowded and the conditions are usually very good. The maintenance sheds at the mountain crossroads and the view of the landfill on the horizon detract from the ambiance. I am going back! I like all mountains....other than Bear Creek (day care center)!
