  1. Yeah, now the question is, how much snow will be left after 2" of rain.
  2. I just chatted. But I figure I got away w/o being changed any processing fee because the forecast is so bad, and they're not even sure if they're gonna be open.
  3. Woo-hoo. Got a full store credit, repurchased for 01/04.
  4. Show me reasonable ticket prices for a week ahead. Of course I bought them earlier than a week ago. The prices are nuts. When I asked that guy what he thinks of $100+ tickets and does he think that people are buying them, he looked at me like at an idiot. In his mind both the prices were totally justified and the people sweeping the tickets.
  5. Yeah, it was busy in the PM. Felt like way more people than last Friday. A red cross who happened to ride once with me said that they sold something like 9000 tickets today. And darn it, they're gonna stay open on soaked Thursday for the same reason. Which makes me kinda screwed because I have tickets for it and was hoping to switch them or having them refunded w/o paying handling fee. Crap, will now have to ski in rain on a Xmas eve. Unbelievable. Main Street was busted, Paradise was OK, though got whistled at a few times, Lazy was probably the best, but it all largely depended on how lucky you were with avoiding the crowds.
  6. So much for the ORDA cards! Belleayre has blocked all card reloads for holidays and weekends.
  7. Tonight was great! Quite busy on the slopes, but zero wait in line if you're using expresses. Interestingly at times there was a considerable line to get to Burma chairs, IDK what and why people would wait there instead of just skipping down to the Valley. Cookie field migrated up to the middle of Main Street, right on top of the moguls that formed where the two trails merge. So if you go down Main Street top-to-bottom, the conditions would look something like awesome-awesome-meh-shit!-crap!!-meh-OK. Lazy mile has nice rollers along the left side, and again conditions change from great to a mix of scraped spots and piles. Paradise should open soon. Given the conditions and crowds, we've ended up looping a rather unusual route: Quad-Connector-Vista-Burma-Home Stretch, which nicely incorporated elements of skiing, dodging and pushing. In short, great night!
  8. Is cookie field at the bottom of Main Street gone then? Ah, we'll see tomorrow.
  9. Not at all. Once in a Blue Moon they do have waist-deep powder. Maybe she wanted to be part of the next PASR POW video. Forget one grand, that would be priceless. Btw, how was snow on ungroomed trails today? Fluffy? Everything in NJ was covered with an armor of crust in the morning.
  10. That's cool. I'll "have to be there" in the afternoon as well, for I have an extra ticket. Bought waaaaay before the storm showed up in the blind. Good thing I didn't pick Wed or Thu, that would be really interesting. Did they say something that the tickets are transferrable in case of inclement weather? Did someone else say that they'd actually charge something like $20 or $40 for a transfer?
  11. Didn't they have a "glitch" literally yesterday where something like 1500 tickets suddenly opened up for tomorrow afternoon? Too little too late. Also, today was nothing. Today only maniacs have showed up who think they cannot miss this storm of the year despite clear warnings that no new trails would be open and it would be a typical start of the season nightmare. Tomorrow everybody else will come who have timed the storm better, checked the forecasts, got insight on the new lifts opening, bought tickets, etc. Thing is that there will still be only a few trails open.
  12. I'll say, what's going on at Blue today is all PASR fault. All these threads on the new country club experience... Time for a reality check. And it's a good thing people are bitching on FB right now. Less of them will come this weekend after seeing all those pictures.
  13. Yeah, I didn't see many wearing masks during the last round of peaceful protests in Philadelphia either. All the yelling and spitting into each others faces. Definitely deserves a big wall around the entire city. NJ was rather relaxed during summer time, no doubts about it, but then again PA wasn't too far behind. I remember July or August at Dutch Springs. There were some stupid rules instituted like spraying tanks with soapy water, but people lived their lives, half didn't wear masks, though all were clearly distancing from each other as much as possible.
  14. If the law is enforced, absolutely. Otherwise I'll see on the mountain. I don't have other local passes or even the usual PA card this year, but I've got the ORDA card, so if things really go south, will stick to Belleayre or night skiing at MC. This is getting old however, and the lawmakers got way out of hand. There has to be a limit to this insanity.
  15. Says nothing about your case. I assume you actually had a reason to be randomly selected, are in some high risk category or traveled recently. But if you do, it’s no longer random. Anyway, good luck with the brain scrape.
  16. Mandatory random testing... WTH is that and do they have nothing else to do than to waste tests and resources on random people?
  17. That's not true at all, at least not at Blue. In the middle of busy weekdays and any weekends it's not skiing, it's a torture. Snow's shit, part of the mountain is closed for racing, the rest is overcrowded by front platers because that's the earliest when they can start reaching the slopes. Spring days are terribly slow, sticky and wet. Only by 5pm does it get firm and fast enough for skiing to become enjoyable. Then they groom, and the entire mountain freezes solid overnight, so early morning hours are like skiing on a grater. If it's not spring, but early or midseason when they still blow snow, then night skiing is exquisite, esp. if it's somewhat windy. Guns are roaring, snow is blowing, floodlights amplify the effect, and it becomes like skiing in a blizzard. There are no stupid conversations on the lifts like "beautiful day today, isn't it?", folks go up like ruffled birds, looking grimly at the elements below, self-administering a couple of sips of 80-proof heat from time to time (this ain't some watery crafty pocket beer for sissy days, this is the real stuff), thoughts drowning in the sound of guns and screaming for mercy airpods. IDK what kind of snow days other people have paid for when they were buying their snowpasses, but I definitely was looking more for some of the latter than the former.
  18. Losers. That's like forcing all night clubs to open at 6am 'cause you know, it's the best time to drink and party.
  19. I know, right? Require that everyone wears a mask outdoors while participating in a physically demanding activity AND sit one person per chair. PA can only top it by installing bleach guns along most populated trails.
  20. Dup, jeez, what's with the board?
  21. I'll be marching down the singles lane and filling up empty spaces, esp. if it's like two people instead of six. It isn't a limousine service.
