  1. Like for the music, good memory.
  2. You really hate your skis.
  3. Well, how do we say it in PASR lingo?... "I made an observation". I'm fine with riding up to 3 on a quad and up to 4 on six-pack if everybody's masked. Interesting, even Blue can't make up its mind regarding whether people should be masked on the lift or not. Attendants say one thing (not), their PA says the opposite.
  4. Btw, where is the new season pass pricing, now that the President's Day is behind us, surely we should already know how much the next season is gonna cost us?
  5. Alright, Batman. Your secret is safe with me.
  6. WJW, that's what happens when Doug takes a vacation from writing his JADIP reports. Everything just falls apart. I'll say that the snow wasn't terrible, but it wasn't awesome like in the last few weeks either. Blue's trademark grooming is back. And so are the crowds. In fact, I kinda liked the snow, was very skiable, not everywhere, but still. I didn't like the crowds a little bit. Anywhere. It was clear that the day was doomed when I had to park far. The lines started forming almost right away. I had to quit at 11:15 because it was too bad everywhere, even at the slow lifts. Oh wait, why did I say "lifts"? Blue management figured that since it was a Wednesday morning they could avoid running Burma and Vista chairs, so everybody was lining up for the Main Street chairs. Who would've thought that people, having skipped icy Monday and Tuesday, in light of a bad commute on Thursday, would decide to show up on a sunny Wednesday?? The crowds were also weird. Main street lift had to stop every few mins because people were continuously losing their skis. And everybody decided to be efficient all of a sudden. Once on the quad I was joined w/o being asked by two crazy Russians w/o masks who kept on talking trash and spitting all the way up. Once on the 6-pack I was warmly invited to share the ride with 4 other elderly yet brave folks from the clan of Connor MacLeod. And once on Main street some guy was just gonna load with me, no questions asked. In short, I liked the snow, the new skis, adored the unique crowd and hate Salty who said that after the President's day we're out of the woods.
  7. You're probably talking about glue blobs?
  8. Ha, I didn’t post the actual skis... Don’t tell me that bindings color doesn’t match. I know
  9. I thought, GSS was joking about heated goggles, but nope, they do exist. Go figure. And not that expensive.
  10. Who thinks that for this showy and coldish winter we should be thankful to Covid?
  11. Salty, these Monsters would not do you any good in perder because they're heavy, and they're fully cambered skis. They'll do in chop, but not because they're stiff. It's because they're wide, long and heavy. Where they will not carry you over due to geometry, they'll just plow through due to weight. Would be even better if you kept them on edge, then they would also cut through. I don't get the obsession with stiffness. Are you heavy? Carve a lot? Like to workout? And anyway, what stiffness do you mean? Torsional? Longitudinal? And yeah, R23 is a big R.
  12. Lol, now I know what Salty faced at WF. Freezing fog. Two runs and I can’t see anything 🥶
  13. Not too bad actually. Most of the fog was around the top where I started. I do stick to the chairs. Gotta be careful when disembarking 😂
  14. Yep, no issues on treated roads but couldn’t make a step on my own driveway. And it’s fooooooggy at Blue.
  15. Is it snowing/raining at the mountain this night? weather.com shows nothing at all, so I was kinda optimistic for tomorrow morning...
  16. This site can be closed now. Nothing can ever beat this TR.
  17. Don't do it. Your skis are legendary. You even had a cake presented in their honor. Switch to something else, and you'll be just like the others.
  18. LX Kastles aren't stiff either. Salty, why are you shopping? Peer pressure?
  19. I have to say, it's a beautiful shot. Snaking lines disappearing over the horizon, color coordinated pair in front, huge snowflakes. They should put it in the booklet!
  20. So, hearing that Belleayre got 24" of new snow last week, still having unused ORDA cards and Superbowl on the horizon, we decided to do a day trip to Belleayre, especially since more snow was coming. The timing of this new storm and its general direction couldn't have been more perfect. It was coming from south west in the morning, was supposed to dump 3-5 inches in NJ and Catskills during the day and then just disappear into the Atlantics. So, we've left the house at 5:15am and by 8am were at the mountain having seen not a drop of rain, not a single snowflake, only dry and empty roads. The mountain wasn't supposed to be open until 9am, but all of the lifts were already spinning. It's nice when the management actually anticipates that people may be coming to ski and starts the lifts not just when lines build up, but way ahead of the opening hour. By 8:30 we were on the slopes and seeing that some blue jackets were already going down started asking around about if it was OK for us to ski as well. "Go!" - they've said: "Go, while the crowds didn't come yet". And so we went. And as it turned out later, the crowds never actually came. The grooming was impeccable. Same beautiful carpet as I've seen at Blue last Thursday, except that there was just more of it. And the trails stayed good not for an hour and a half, but for the entire day. It was really unbelievable, at Blue lately I can't help but notice that my sessions started to get shorter and shorter because people get smarter, lines build up faster, and snow turns into crap sooner. Here we a-priori decided to wait out the bad road conditions on the mountain from 9am to 4pm, and initially had this idea that we HAD TO ski all day until the storm has passed, but it turned out that we didn't HAVE TO, there was no such feeling of being trapped on the mountain, we didn't count the hours until it was time to leave. We just skied open-to-close and enjoyed every minute of it. It started snowing around 9am. At times the snow was heavy, at times light, I think the total amount of precipitation was less than forecasted, especially in Catskills, but regardless, it was just such a great winter day. Is there something else one could wish for? Sure. Good roads on the way back. And we've got them too, all plowed, no slush, door to door. Woo-hoo!
