  1. I was just checking to see if you read my report.
  2. It’s the weather and backyard affect. If it snows 2” in Philly or gets cold again the crowds will return.
  3. Have fun and safe travels!!!
  4. January 30, 2024 Day 7 of 7. Hey All, I’m back from my last ski day of this trip which is my 20th trip to JHMR. I first visited in 2002 then returned annually 2005-2020, skipped 2021 and been back 2022-2024. Last night there were clear skies but this morning there was a cloud/fog layer about 1,000 feet up spritzing light snowfall in the valley. 8am departure to the resort had us there around 820am…last boot up of the trip and my bad foot didn’t even hurt getting into my boot..a little tender but no big dealio. We hoofed it up to the gondola in upper 20s temperatures and shot the shit and rode the gondola with the Long Island guy who used to work for Billy Joel and his buddy from NYC area who’s spent the last ten winters in JH and who’s going to Bali/vietnam/Bangkok to surf and have fun next week. I told him to watch out for the ladyboys. First run on amphitheater the cord was a little stiff but pure sunshine and visibility until right before the base of the Thunder quad. Up Thunder and into Laramie bowl which had similar stiff cord but full visibility. Up Sublette and did Rendevous trail which was similar conditions, pleasant enough. Then Sublette over to Laramie bowl again which was now starting to corn up a little in the warm sun, then the cat track down to Thunder in fog. Up Thunder and did amphitheater from the top, then we did Jerry’s way for Salty and Mute. Up Thunder again and another Laramie bowl which was even better but so many people standing at the edge like it was Corbetts coulour. Sublette had about a half full lift corral, lots of schoolers, not new schoolers but ski schoolers who get to cut the lines. Then a run from Sublette to the base via Rendevous trail and lower tram line. Lower tram line was in deep dense fog but I was able to see enough to ski moderate speeds..was almost spring like in the beginning and refrozen crud lower down. NMSki had a cab to catch to the airport and me and atomic Jeff had an early lunch at the four seasons. Short day today but we still got a decent amount of skiing in and was nice being in the sun for a couple hours up high. Some people even said,”you’ve got to stay high today”…I’m not the person they have to remind cough cough. All in all this turned out to be an excellent and successful trip. Everybody had fun, we got as much skiing as we wanted to get in, generally around 20k or so of vert a day..I think mute and Atomic Jeff did 24k the other day but they skied a run or so more than me. I weigh about 20 pounds less than last year which made a big difference in my energy levels..even walking uphill to the gondola felt way better. I also didn’t drink that much which helped. Except for a few crowded runs and liftlines, the mountain was generally pretty quiet while the town was more hopping. Last Sublette ride, our lift riding companion was talking about going to Switzerland next week and I was asking about how he’s getting there and it turns out he has his own G4, a house in NYC also and a smaller plane for Europe. Serious wallets!!!! I only took a few pictures today here they are.
  5. Quote from 72 year old on the gondola… ”The key to a healthy marriage is a full belly and empty balls”. Sheesh I have that and I don’t even have a girlfriend.
  6. Wow nobody at Blue again this morning. Let’s hope it continues to stay empty.
  7. I’m sure they’re going to look at several years of revenue and expenses so they can pin an asking price.
  8. No it was jack daniels honey..
  9. I just remembered that when I was skiing solo, I was on the lift with some French dudes and they gave me a swig from their flask. It was some sort of honey whiskey…even when I try not to drink it finds me. It seems like half the people I ride the lift with, I’ve been on the lift with before in past years…the dude from Long Island who used to work for Billy Joel, Florida snowboarder and today I rode the lift with Silicon Valley guy who bought a condo in teton village 12 years ago who’ve I’ve been on the lift with several times before. I saw DJango from TGR forums flying past me a few days ago. Bruce and Dennis I haven’t seen this trip. Maybe tomorrow. Atomic Jeff even said the he had the same guy at the Hertz rental counter as last year.
  10. Post rain when above freezing are my favorite non pow conditions. I definitely prefer it to fresh manmade or that slow squeaky snow.
  11. I used to get the cheddar popcorn at Nuts on Clark from the O Hare airport. Nuts on Clark sounds like a bad porno or a good one depending on how big of a weirdo you are.
  12. January 29, 2024 Day 6 of 7. Hey All, I’m back from another fun day at Jackson hole mountain resort. It was a mild start with the temperature around freezing top to bottom. I think we were second gondola cabin today and the mountain was in the fog from a bit above the base to almost the top of the gondola. First run on amphitheater was the easiest run we skied today but also the most challenging due to like ten feet of visibility. Picking my way down added a couple extra minutes. Up the Thunder lift and about the top 200 vertical feet of Thunder was above the fog…Grand had nice groomed snow and wasn’t as hard to see as on Amphitheater. Up Sublette and maybe the top 400 vert of Sublette was above the fog. The Boys wanted to do the Tram and I wanted to stay on Sublette so I split from them and did a three Sublette laps on Bivoac and Rendevous trail, they then wanted to do another tram lap and during that time I did two more Sublette laps and a ten sleep bowl to cirque run to the Thunder chair. The cirque had nice spring snow but in the fog a little bit…Dirtwolf left for the airport and I met Atomic Jeff and NMSki at the bottom of Sublette and did a repeat of ten sleep bowl to cirque to amphitheater to lower tram line, that was quite the burner and by the bottom I was covered in sweat. I had my fill after 7 Sublettes, two thunders and one gondola and NMSki went up for a third tram lap. Lunch was at Osteria, I had ceasar salad and margarita pizza and Diet Coke, atomic Jeff had arugula salad and a meat pizza and two glasses of Prosecco(Jeff says the bubbles are uplifting) and NMSki had ceasar salad, calzone and some sort of cloudy beer. Lunch was $169 and I gave a $40 tip because the waitress was impressed that a fat boy skied ten runs lol. Now back at the 49er, time to poop, take a little siesta, then hangout in NMSkis suite a little before supper. Tomorrow is our last ski day, I’m never sad when a trip is almost over, especially one like this where everything went so smoothly. Here are some pictures!!!
  13. In flat light it’s ok but when you can’t see your hand in front of your face…it’s tricky. That’s when it gets tiring cause you can’t let the skis run…gotta make a ton of turns…or wait until somebody wearing bright colors skis by and ski behind them.
  14. In the valley on the way to the mountain and up high.
  15. I guess I’ll look into Bibs if getting snow down my back becomes an issue.
  16. And enjo..when I was a kid they were called overalls..it’s all good I don’t judge the team Bib people are alright.
  17. Airhead is wishcasting…anything beyond like 4-5 days out in the forecast usually changes.
  18. January 28, 2024 Day 5 of 7 Hey All, I’m back from another day at Jackson hole mountain resort. There were a few flakes falling this morning and the temperature was in the mid 20s. First civilian gondola again and sadly visibility wasn’t great early on with real flat light. The snow on amphitheater and Laramie bowl was nice..Rendevous trail also nice snow and a little better visibility. Did another Sublette lap then skied Lower tram line to the base. Mute had time for one more run before he had to leave for his flight and we took teewinot to Apres vous said bye to Mute, watched a few of the racers then skied over to the teton lift up teton and over to Casper area which had ok snow then up Casper and over to the Marmet lift which I haven’t been on in a few years and gives a different perspective. Crowds weren’t as bad as yesterday..a half corral max at Sublette, nothing really at thunder and minimal waits elsewhere. From marmet skied ranger under the gondola which was chalk bumps, then into Sundance gully to the base. I had my fill and NMSki took the tram for another lap. We had a quick lunch at the Mangy moose and now back in town…last night most of us went to the cowboy bar. It was packed to the gills with a band and the male female ratio was about 85:15 but most of the females were hot..I guess cause pf Taylor swift country music has gotten popular with chicks cause some were dresses like cowgirls and there was even a bachelorette party. due to low visibility I didn’t take many photos. Let’s hope the sun comes out tomorrow. pictures from Laramie bowl second run.
  19. That was playing last week. I feel like the Centerfield song needs more play…the put me in coach song or maybe something by the Outfield.
  20. Bibs lol..I think you and JLaw are the only people who wear them.
  21. You trust long term forecasts way to much!!!
  22. What time did they start loading the six pack??
  23. A good thing I was talking about spread eagles on the chairlift with NMSki and not Backflips….
  24. Great pictures y’all. Blue was less crowded today than Jackson hole.
