  1. I tend to make it for a decent amount of ASRA races... I ran in 12 of them last year... granted, I think this year I'm going to cut back a lot. I have to work a lot over the winter. Don't worry Ski- I'll have Thursdays off.
  2. Hell Doug, I remember when you used to be able to beat me...
  3. Yeah, our vests are mucho sweet by the way. I'm definitely liking that. When's this team meeting? I'll be sure to make it.
  4. Wow, can't believe I missed the rest of this thread... yeah, its that time of the year again, so they've got me locked up in my room at the proshop building, repairing, regripping, fitting, and whatever else they want me to do to golf clubs. And Jeff- I've got 5 on Cole. And 5 that says I'm a nasty enough sum'mabitch to knock your grandmother off a chairlift if she beat me first run. Oh yeah, and yes, I'll be on Atomics next year. I'm coming over to the dark side. Fact of the matter is that I skied GS and SL 12's and I ski them better than what I've got. Not to mention that my SL skis are 5 runs from having no bases left. And don't tell my pool teams, but I'm taking a winter hiatus from pool next year... Especially if one of my teams makes nationals this session. Gotta train next year. As the all wise and knowing (not to mention uber fast) Johnny P told me- You've got to do the homework before you take the test.
  5. Ah, so true ski, so true. I mean, if there wasn't much to be said for the underdog role, then there would never be a damn word said about me...
  6. no way... I've got a different kind of funny accent... not bobby bouchet, not dr. phil, I've got the tony soprano accent hmmm... tiger woods... sounds familiar... doesn't he play that guy Shark on TV?
  7. Metz... on GS:12's... with Dr. D's on the bases... Racewax.com '08- beat 'em all and leave the pacesetters to sort 'em out.
  8. Hmmm... sounds like a bit of a beer bet is starting to get kindled here... hehehehehehe. This excites me due to the fact that the 2 people I know on the team aren't big drinkers and I'll probably get to reap the rewards...
  9. he'll be around sometime soon... the racing season is coming to a close.
  10. I couldn't tell ya... but I have a feeling the 3 women who didn't make the sunday race might have an idea
  11. Congrats to Johnny P for: 1.) winning the ASRA national championships this weekend as the fastest man on the hill 2.) Turning 44 on Saturday night- happy birthday man 3.) Probably having a really awesome birthday celebration/after party of which I have not heard the story, but can only imagine for the brief time I was there that it was one kick ass night. You're the man.
  12. Eh, the course held up pretty well today... at least on first run. And I skied pretty well... the second run I skied well enough to have a 46 and change... but like i said... i was upright and trying to get my hand back on my pole for the first 5 gates since I lost it in the start, which also killed my kick. boo to that. On another note, since my nordica SL skis fell apart on me I'll be purchasing new skis next year. I'm going to go to a production model race ski for both GS and SL. What am I getting? I'm coming over to the dark side. Eat your heart out Jeff.
  13. Whats up everyone and thanks for all the support! Johnny P took nationals this year so a big congrats to him! It was hard snow first run today, and a lot softer on the second... I gave up 2 seconds when I lost my pole out of the start and it took me 5 gates to get it back on . Anyways, it was a great course that they set on Highline. I ended up 3rd in the C division, which is basically like getting bronze in the special olympics... lol. I'm hoping I might be able to make that final nastar weekend at sno... I may or may not have to work sat. and sun. though... as golf season is coming and our shop is starting to pick up. Well its going to be party time in a while. I'll post another report when I get back home after tomorrow. Conditions today- started at 18 degrees and went up to like 38 or 40... kinda gnarly on the second run.
  14. It is, in fact, possible to actually like Camelback and have a gripe here or there. I have to say that the closing of the stevenson is more often than not premature. In New Hampshire I was subjected to 78 mile an hour wind gusts and the quad was still running, albeit at mind numbingly slow speed. Once the gusts got over 80 they shut the lift down. That, however was on an extremely busy Saturday. I think that one of the possible problems inherent in running the stevenson during windy periods that are also slow in numbers is the fact that few people ride the stevenson, thus keeping the weight down across the line and each individual chair. This will cause the chairs to move more violently. I'm not making excuses for CB, just throwing something out to think about.
  15. Wearing a jersey while skiing/riding = wearing jeans while skiing/riding I never really got wearing a jersey anyways... I mean I'll give you a hint- You're not on the team. Save up a couple hundred bucks more and buy yourself a nice jacket. Really.
  16. I wouldn't say they were detuned... more like never tuned. Never anything more than wax. The kid who had them before he left them with me was quite the jibber. Believe me, they were proper park skis, with almost as much ptex as base material, and a chipped up edge. Glenn, however I do concede your point, I am definitely not a park skier and I never will be. I'm just saying, however that there is definitely enjoyment to be had outside the park, even if you're on park skis, and that it is very possible to carve a line even on rolled edges. It is, however a choice in mountain discipline that every skier or rider makes. If you ski park, or you arc turns, either way you decide what to practice. Nothing wrong with either decision.
  17. Glenn, that was one of those things where I was just going to let sleeping dogs lie. And not to mention the rangers are D*CKS. One of them extended a message to 'dude to give to me. I believe it was something like this: "tell your buddy I said that if I ever see him skiing like that again I'm not even going to boot him, I'm going to come kick his f*cking ass." Now I hate to make this sound like a mark miller incident, but this ranger and his rossignol vipers wouldn't know a good turn if it was carved across his back. I mean, cut me a break, I was on slalom skis on meadows, and stayed way clear of what they were doing. I was hoping that he would come straight up to me and say that to my face sometime during the rest of the day. I gladly would have had him fired. And also Glenn, of coure you won't hear that from a patroller. Patrollers actually need to be able to ski or ride well to do their jobs well. God help me if i ever got hurt at blue. I'd be hoping that ben was around... lol
  18. Glenn, you're certainly right that park skiing is out of my realm, but i'll put it this way... I was tearing down the slopes on a pair of rossi scratch fs's that belonged in the ski fence on sullivan trail.
  19. No they don't... if they all skied like you, Ridge would have had to forfeit the first part of the season... And that was a comment that I can picture coming out of the mouths of just about every kid from Basking Ridge that I ever met.
  20. Heh... Ridge ski team... hehehehehehe... A lot of kids from ridge are d-bags. not all, mind you, I used to party with a group of them during high school. Most of them remind me of AJeff, only without the nice side that AJ sometimes shows. lol.
  21. Shadows man, I don't want to argue with you, but I owned a pair of park skis last year and early this year, and I have to say I don't buy the equipment argument. Notice I wasn't talking so much about you, or a lot of the other good skiers who ski park around here. i was more talking about those who are skateboarding wannabe's who put on snowboards or skis during the winter and try and do the same shit. And just like you learn new tricks in the park, when I ski I'm working on a set of skills that I'm trying to develop. We've just chosen different paths in skiing, thats all. You're learning how to throw a cork 7, and I'm learning how to lay down tighter turns at faster speeds.
  22. LOL... professional courtesy extended to the message board. love it. Do we have any rangers that post on the board? The patrollers are well represented in more than one way.
  23. Good point splooshie. In all fairness though there are many people who's skiing and riding skills have only been developed in the park, and therefor limit them to enjoying themselves solely in the park. Its sad, but its a trend in the sport. The term "good skier" or "good rider" really is quite ambiguous these days. If you want a good example, go hang around the park at mountain creek. a bunch of the guys in there can throw down some sick stuff, but you get them out of the park and its just ugly. I'm talking like "if they couldn't ski the park they'd be skiing in jeans" ugly. PS- Lib, how's the weather up at lake wally?
  24. Wow guys, you patrollers are livin' the life. I've heard that all or mostly all resorts extend free or deeply discounted skiing to members of the national ski patrol. Is this true? Hopefully I'll get to ski with some of you guys before the end of the season. Fun Idea- CB should hold skiing comps between the Patrollers and the Rangers. It'd be like the police vs. firemen games they do in NY, Boston and other big cities. Anyone care to wager a guess as to the possible outcome?
  25. I don't doubt for one second that he's fast. And he's cocky enough (In an admirable kind of way) that I'm inclined to think he's really fast. Lets see how fast. A nonpatroller from CB should be able to vouch for this... Believe me, I know there is a select group of you patrollers that can really rip. After all, ben leaves a bit of an impression if you see him ski bumps and someone points it out. And mtnbiker- I hear you can haul too. Ski911 should make himself known...
