  1. Congratulations on the most innovative post of the year. Anyone else care to comment on the immense amount of creativity and thought that went into this post?
  2. Do the PASR Nastar challenge rules apply in this situation? Admin- can I have an official posting as to what would constitute a challenge to ski911? Are patrollers allowed to jump into the course? I mean, it should be kept as safe as the rest of the mountain... hehehehe
  3. The freeride program and the ski team are both integral parts of the ski school. They're both skiers and riders that are paying more for a certain time period of instruction. As long as they're training with a coach I think they should get to use the ski school line.
  4. Sex Kitten- I'll definitely be at Blew sometime before the end of the season on a weekend. The thing about race training on weekends is that a lot of the kids HAVE to do it on weekends. Many of them come from 2 hours away and stay at the mountain for the weekend and thats just not practical for weekday practices. Basically, they have to have it on weekends for the same reason that most other people can only ski on weekends. Blue could definitely do a lot better with posting race trail closings. Tretiak- do you feel that anyone should get special lift privelages? I just really want to know a liftie's opinion. In my opinion I feel that the ski school should be able to jump line whenever they are in the care of an instructor. This means to me the race team, freeriders, and regular group and private lessons. I also feel that structured events should be allowed preferred access to the lifts, whether it be a freestyle comp or a race. I don't, however feel that skiers and riders that take part in these teams should be able to jump line when they're out for a night of freeskiing/riding just because they have a team jacket on.
  5. Here's my solution. Many mountains have dedicated park lifts... on race day the racers should get their own lift. stir, stir, stir. Tretiak, don't be a bitter liftie. Blue already has too many of those.
  6. CAT usually only uses the ski school line on days when RIDICULOUS waits are present. I do have some gripes about some of the Blue race coaches I've met, but I have to say that as far as CAT goes I haven't had a bad experience with any of the coaches. In fact, a couple times one of the coaches has had me ride the lift with someone on the development team. I know there are definitely some gripes with upper management, rangers and the park crew at CB, but the race coaches and lifties are people I haven't had any problem with that I can recall. A bit off topic, but I had a conversation with a part time ski school supervisor at CB that worked at Blue for a couple of seasons and he said that he had to leave Blue due to the fact that the instructors were for the most part unpleasant and in it for the benefits.
  7. Damn terrain parks. They close off great terrain like sidewinder. And that lower "park" is just ridiculous. It leaves such an annoying traverse to get to home stretch. It'd be so much easier if I didn't have to put up with it being there and I could just ski down to the six pack that way. And what purpose do these trails serve? None at all, other than letting some damn kids do twirly things and slide on rails, which most of them can't even do well. Its all just so damn annoying. THIS IS A DEMONSTRATION, AND NOT MY TRUE FEELINGS. Fact of the matter is that we need to look at the fact that racers (or their parents) PAY for these privelages. If you had to pay $200+ a year to be able to ride the park, would you? Furthermore wouldn't you expect a hell of a lot for that additional money? The one thing that I see as inexcusable is the "coach"'s behavior, if it even was a coach... could have been a parent setting up drills. There's no excuse for that. Honestly though, if you paid that much money, you'd expect a lot of perks...
  8. Oh I can't WAIT until Doug sees this post... We're about to get "hero" "goldilocks" and various other dougisms thrown at us.
  9. SkiCB- Please take what I am about to say as a compliment. It is definitely intended as such. SkiCB its nice to see that you're (for lack of a better phrase) coming around. I look at the reports you posted earlier in the year as opposed to the reports you post now. It seems you're providing more of a genuine report here now, as opposed to a sugar coated marketing report. I, for one, appreciate that. And maybe papa will disagree with me, but you've really stepped it up as this season has gone on. We're skiers and riders, and as much as we crave snow and the ability to make turns, we also crave honestly and management loyal to skiers and riders. You're starting to assimilate into the PASR community now, and thats a good thing. You really have a unique opportunity here. You can generate a TON of business for Camelback just by honesty and the way that you treat us here at PASR. We may not be that big in number on the grand scheme of things, but remember that we are in many cases the leaders of our local skiing communities. I'll use myself as an example here. I am essentially (since I haven't seen NJSkiFamily on lately) the sole representative of north/central NJ on here. I live in Somerset County, but I spend a lot of time and have a lot of contact with people in general and skiers from Somerset, Hunterdon, Middlesex, Morris, Union and Mercer counties. I'd say that during a given year I honestly have influence over 100 non-PASR skier visits, due to my reputation as a pretty avid skier. I may or may not be above the average on the board, but say each person on here gets to influence even 25 people who are looking for a place to ski. If you do the math that is a lot of a skier visits, and quite a bit of revenue. To get back on topic, basically, your integrity as judged by PASR members is something that can really make your job easier. You've really made great strides, and I feel you've given a LOT more honest effort as the season has progressed. I guess what I'm trying to say is thank you, and please just continue to give us the facts. Today was the first time in a long time I've woken up and not just really wanted to ski, but to ski Camelback. I can't get out today, due to a ton of errands, my pool league, etc. but I'll definitely be up on Friday. Thanks again SkiCB. I can't very well post this, however without throwing props out to Ski911 and ben. Good job as well guys, and ben, frankly you're the straight shooter of straight shooters... If I didn't know better I wouldn't even know that you work at CB...
  10. Actually, I was there one day when blue had 3 female lifties running midway... kinda different. CB does have some female lifties. They all seem like they have very nice personalities. end of statement.
  11. Thats it. This is such BS. How come the girls get "cute" guys to stare at and there aren't any hot chick lifties or anything? I might have to write to CB management about this.
  12. rick james- I AM in my favorite mountain's forum. I'm a passholder, and I don't usually bitch, whine, or complain. I just find it really immature when someone goes and attacks people personally when they were trying to raise a very valid point. You obviously don't know ski, because if you did you'd know that he's actually an extremely knowledgable and kind individual who has a talent for making things happen at mountains. I'm all for sticking up for CB when they aren't in the wrong. Could they be in the wrong here? From what I'm seeing, more than likely they are. Does it really affect me? Not in the least, as I don't ski the pipe. It did, however, ruin the day for one of the best young freestylers around. I see fault in that. I love skiing, I want as many people as possible to love skiing, and I really like CB. I seriously want to see them get their whole act together so that they can truly stake their claim as the best pocono mountain. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. Just express yours in a mature fashion, and I think everything's ok.
  13. Alright, I do have to side with a few people here and say that CB HAS in fact closed a lot of trails, lifts, etc. for what seem to be rather mild "dangerous conditions." As far as the pipe is concerned- I wasn't there, but that area of the mountain is quite fog-prone. I might give them that. there is a lot more cover at CB then there is at blue as well as a few streams that run down the mountain, which create and trap the fog, instead of letting it loose. And I also believe that CB and blue have slightly different facings. However, like I said, I wasn't there, so I can't judge. As for the frozen precip we got closing down the high speed lifts- definitely can't blame them there. That happens at most resorts. But seriously, rick james. Fugitive is a hell of a lot more personable then you, and ski's a hell of a lot more intelligent then you, or at least his posts in comparison with yours lend the general public to feel that way. What I'm trying to say here is don't be a prick. Thats the long and short of it.
  14. The answer to the paradox that doug poses is the fact that its a lot colder at CB then it is at blue... so while its raining at Blue we have frozen precipitation at CB. I'll take the colder weather over a lift for 3 hours anyday.
  15. Yeah, of course I am. its the council cup. thats the whole reason I'm coming to blue tomorrow.
  16. no, lol, you don't have to. I'll be on slalom skis anyways... slower than usual. and we get free beer after the race... so i might retire right after my two runs.
  17. With the atomics???? I thought the wind was blowing really loud, but it turns out I can hear AJ crying all the way in da dirty jerz...
  18. There are officially NO races on Razors tomorrow, so you speedjunkies can rip it. Raceway will be closed though. Maybe I'll get to turn a few runs with Doug and his LT:11 freestyle skis...
  19. Eh, i know i definitely want to take some runs in the nastar course, but I usually take a few gaper runs through the park and watch people throw down for a while. Besides, I'm always up for meeting some PASRs. If you're lucky you'll get me to try some crazy shiot on some jumps.
  20. Grove City College... holla. They didn't like drinking as much as I did at the time though, so it was only for a year. lol. There I was about an hour from Peek 'n' Peak and maybe 1:15 from Seven Springs
  21. Hey everyone, anyone headed up to BC on tues or wed night? I'm contemplating it and I'm wondering who wants to come up and take a few runs.
  22. Any of the marker free bindings are good, and the rossi scratch bindings are decent. I'd definitely have them mounted about a cm forward of standard position for riding east coast, predominantly trails. And don't complain about the Blue knob until you've headed north on 79 past Erie to Peek 'n' Peak. Yeah... lol, I went to school in western PA. seriously, mount bindings forward of true center. you'll ski better because of it.
  23. Chances are his GS skis are 186's, 191's tops. He now races skiercross, so he's probably skiing a pair of Atomic SX:12's. And a world cup racer can turn a pair of 186's like most of us mere mortals can turn 165's. Believe me, he'll be ok at BC.
  24. You'd be suprised... I'm actually thinking of also joining Morris County ski club here in NJ... its a short drive up there, but they hold these "happy hours" where they have 200 or so people who get together...
