  1. They won't cancel...They will probably push the snow around, and maybe close a few trails, so they can start blowing on them.
  2. I think they closed for a few years 1980something to like 1997 they were closed.
  3. Woot, I have been waiting for that list to come forever now. Anyway I am trying to get a ride to a SL at Magic mountain this weekend...Which is about 1 of 3 races this whole weekend in the NE, so I am hoping it will be good for points
  4. Ohh they hear you, and they move...trust me
  5. I don't even like powder that much, hardpack kinda guy myself, but atleast out there you don't need to worry about thin and bare spots
  6. By friday they should be able to blow snow, the weekend after that (and tuse/thus night if you can get up there) they will probably be setting gates.

Ski, you kid was skiing pretty well, considering there was about 3 inches of granular...and I can only imagen how hard that can be to get through when you are 2 feet tall I am suprised you have not snuck her onto a dimond at montage...but I guess she would go home and rat you out to your wife
  8. Jeff I was out training on Saturday....I can't miss training whenever I want to go to an Asra race...But I talked my coach into letting me go on sunday for the gates, since there hasn't been deep enough snow on most trails to set a nice course. And I ran a year of slalom gates with out having any slalom gear. I did it on my 9.20s with no pole/shin guards...so that is a crap excuse. Anyway, when you go to CB (30th maybe) we will have to run the nastar if you haven't skied any real courses by then. later btw....the slalom most people were skiing like a GS at tanglewood, tucking and not hitting gates, probably would have been a good one to do as your first race...
  9. They came to CB this weekend (Salomon, atomic, and dynastar) but they all left by like 1030, because no one was demoning in the rain. I would have taken a few skis out for a run or 2, but I had no C.Card with me, and no parent to sign.
  10. Hmm no, they tell you to only try them for a couple of runs
  11. I think the loft at CB has demos...You could demo the day you are there....but you might not want to waste your time with demos, and stuff, since you have to pay for a lift ticket...

Skimom was happy with her run yesterday, and she had her lowest SL handicap today, so I think she was happy.
  13. Greg, as far as I know you can do that. Maybe if you get asked to stop, and if you don't then you can get in trouble....But nothing says you can't. However if you go down the trail yelling, "OHHH DEAR, WATCH OUT!!" people clear out of your way
  14. Yeah, but more people come...If you think about it this way...You have to listen to it for 10 seconds, so its not a huge deal.
  15. It should be easier to ballence, just start off with shorter skis, so you don't have to worry about crossing your tips
  16. I was very disappointed to hear this, but the day was not a total loss, as I went to tanglewood and skied the ASRA SL...Good stuff. It was more of a GS with a single pole, until the last few gates, which had a flush, that you were moving pretty fast at. As for door prizes, I won a beer, which was then switched to a nice water bottle, Skimom won a hat, and Ski999 won something or other, but I forget what. Jeff where were you?
  17. I think (and I am assuming you are talking about this in refrence to an accident) but they really want to make sure everyone sees, and goes on the other side of the trail, so no one gets crashed into....Idk, standard procedure I guess
  18. We got a call from the northridge management people saying there was a 'severe power outage' and that it went out mid day thusday, and they expected it on again by sat @ midnight, or sunday by midnight. BUT I just got a call from my dad who is up there saying the power was jsut turned back on.

Not nick...If my memory serves me he was 2 infrount of me (bib 119). It is in the fingerlakes region on NY....No one has gotten hit by a car, but last season it was snowing before the race and there is a road ontop of the mountain, right by the start (whihc you actully have to hike up about 20 vertical feet to get to from the top of the jbar)....Anyway all the J1/2 girls were standing up there, and a plow goes by...And covers them all in a this black (from the road) snow, and all you can hear is a big AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH from the top of the course...It was GREAT to see.
  20. Someone is going to have to put it online or something, so the rest of us can see it.

No, it was only racers...and they all have ballence enough to stay on. Litterly there was no one there but racers and maybe like 2 other people on a different slope...They probably make 80% of there income from SL races.

Well here is one killer hill. Just found the camera these pics where on, so I figured I would post em... The mountain...errr hill...errr bump.. There is a little perspective with this picture...Look at how tall the silo is to the mountain... And the mad skate to the finish. Hey Ski999 do you know who this is? I will give you a hit, he races as a master (or is it senior, and a few years ago was doing Nastar/Asra races but is now racing USSA.) I don't think you know him, but just checking. He skis so old school, its great to watch And the cheapest gas I have seen in a while...
