It was a cloudy and foggy day in mid March at the former Little Gap Mountain. As I ascended to the apex of the Challenge Express ski lift with one Grilled Steeze, excitement arose in every fiber of my being. It was spine tingling anticipation to ski the perder on Challenge. I disembarked the lift with Steeze near by and pointed my Elon skis to the east. I began to pole plant to gain acceleration as I approached the headwall of Challenge, one of the steepest slopes in all of Little Gap. As I breathed in the intoxicating aroma of the seemingly endless view of mountains on the horizon, which I knew was obstructed by the clouds which robbed our eyes of such a magnificent sight to behold, I closely examined the snow flakes on the surface. While being shortly after nine o'clock, a glimpse of unskied courdoroy caught my eye and I marveled at the perfectly parallel lines which were put down so pristinely by one of Blue's finest groomers. I contemplated thoughts of ingenious machines driven by snowmakers and how wonderous it is that they can turn a sloppy mushy slope into a carpet as smooth as marble. As Grilled Steeze and I approached the pinnacle, my speed began to increase. I pointed my skis to the left, then to the right, then to the left, then to the right, then to the left, then to the right, then to the left again. My speed built as a marveled at the miraculous conditions of cold snow on the slope even after surviving torrential downpours (good for the ponds) and a sweltering mid-March sun beaming down and gradually melting all the perder. I felt the soft granular ski snow beneath my Elons and it was an out of world experience. I witnessed Grilled Steeze also skiing on Castle skis down Challenge while enjoying some patchy spots of freshly groomed courdoroy on such a fine morning. I may even have caught a glimpse of various PASR celebrities ascending the chairlift while we descended the steep, steep slope like @NMSKI who is famous in all of NM. Our speed increased to a maximum of probably 20 or maybe even 21 mph as the windless nature of the day offered little to no resistance to diminish our respective velocities as we continued down and down the steep mountain on the Kittaninity Ridge. We finally approached the beginning of The Falls and saw some gapers and jeralds lollygagging and blocking our paths as usual, so we skirted around them and skied down The Falls in like five seconds. Then we whizzed down Homestretch and smiled and waved to the webcams to our thousands of fans watching at home and missing out on this glorious experience. Overall what a grate run at The Challenge slope at Little Gap Mountain, Pennsylvania.

Oh cwap I posted this on the wrong thread. @RootDKJ please use your mod powers and move this to the 3/15/25 trip report. Thank you

Today was rad. I got to ski at the True Mountain, actually did some runs with @GrilledSteezeSandwich, and I even think I caught a glimpse of Atomic Skier on the chairlifts. Definitely a top 20 day this season, maybe even top 19. Enyoralas cooked grate food and I even reunited with his cousin, aka Cuzzo. Afterwards I started biking and felt grate so ended up riding to Wind Gap and up Blue Mountain Drive. Unfortunately I didn't bring food, hydration or money because I initially intended to go out on a brief ride. By the time I hit Blue Mountain Drive I was very hungry. Fortunately I found a gel pack in my kit to provide sustenance to ascend the big mountain. Next time I'll have to pack some Captains Wafers in my bicycle bag.

Nah I'll go to Blue True. I might bring my bike as well, just call me SaltyBikeSki

@GrilledSteezeSandwich Where is the roll call thread for this weekend? I think the mods will have to give you a big fat dinger
-
@GrilledSteezeSandwich if you're going to this look for my taxidermied squirrels dressed up like all my favorite PASRs. Unfortunately I now have to separate the TP4 and J-Law squirrels.

This winter was complete bullshit. I'm so glad it's finally over. When I can't ski some day I'm fleeing to Florida. Here are some random pictures to demonstrate the misery I endured.
-
Vail's rad, I just renewed my Epic pass which provides access to more than 80 mountains across the world for under $800. That's cheaper than the stupid pass to ski just 2 mountains in the Poke n O's for $900
-
@GrilledSteezeSandwich I'm back home from a radical trip to Vail. Time for a good, bad, ugly summary: The Good: skied perder The Bad: United's Kiosks SUCK The Ugly: The dryer at the condo SUCKS
-
This is grate! I was wondering if you were down there taking a photo of me when I was flying over. I was on the right side of the aircraft in the last row.
-
I'll have to watch this later when I SUJOPO. Ski trips are fun but it's an awful lot of work. I book everything and pay for mad credit card points, but the downside is I have to account for what everyone owes me. There's the condo cost, Instacart, personal groceries, gas mileage and tolls to and from the airport, airport parking, hotel rooms, tips for shuttle drivers, tips for the pizza delivery guy, and sometimes I even book a flight for my brah. It takes an extensive spreadsheet and lots of accounting to figure out everyones bill at the end of the trip.
-
Can't wait to fly over @Benm house again. Maybe I'll ask the pilot of United 1305 to circle around a point
-
Correct. He went to Copper. Vail doesn't funk around. You'd think it would be a warning the first time. There's a sign that says "28 days suspension and legal action". I wonder what legal action is ever taken?
-
Hell naw
-
Unfortunately my brah got a 28 day Epic Pass suspension on Tuesday for going out of bounds. As we all know, Vail just doesn't have enough terrain in bounds.
-
Escargood was grate and it's my last day so maybe I'll buy a $500 dinner like @AtomicSkier. Some premium Mer Lot would be radical. I skied groomers, trees, glades, bowls, back bowls, courdoroy, snow, perder, slopes, hills, mountains, steeps, catwalks, adventure parks, moguls, deep perder, soft snow, hard snow, ice, grippy snow, and between bushes.
-
Ordered some fine wine and escargot at Lancelot. That shit was dope. Only $44, what a bargain. @Ski2Live Live2Ski would suggest a fool and money soon departed. Too bad I didn't have a coupon to save $3.50
-
Damn Daniel, that sounds mint. I wish I was at Blue today instead of Vail. All this deep powder and long trails are wearing out my legs.
-
Yeah that's just not right. When I'm at a ski resort the wait should be less than a minute. I'm probably quitting early Friday, I'm not doing those stupid long lines. Today was grate tho. There were no lines. I even rode the gondola solo and also once with some hot babes. Also skied nearly open to close which is a rarity for me. I was in the zone today. Yesterday we got some perder. I think like 8 inches. I skied the famous Back Bowls(tm) which was sickbird. We found some gnarly glades which was rad.
-
You should come to Vail and you can help me with my checked bags on the way home and we can each get a hot toddy. Then we can post more food pics and travel stories on this thread.
-
On Monday I got super triggered. This one chairlift ended up being like a 15 minute wait. Every few minutes some gapers would screw up and stop the lift. I got big mad. It was worse than Camelback. That was total BS. Today was grate, 2 or 3 minutes waits at teh liftz
-
Pretzel bites with a Hot Toddy. Only $28.96 and even got a few dollars off with my Epic Pass. @Ski2Live Live2Ski would be so proud of my thrifty spending at Vail. If only I shoved a mushy salami sandwich in my pocket I could have saved three fitty. And I didn't even get carded which was rad, while the next person in line did. That was sick not having to fish for my photo ID in my ski pants.
