  1. I almost didn't make it out today. I mean I didn't make it off the mountain. The lines were packed in between the new six and the quad and you couldn't tell which line was which anymore. When I came down off Main Street, which was great, there was no way to get off the mountain without elbowing my way through the crowd. Not a great look. Lazy Mile was really nice too, but I spent most of my time in line today.
  2. I have zero desire to visit Windham anyway. If I stop by in the Catskills I will just go to Plattekill anyway, even though it not on any pass system.
  3. I can duck into the lab in Philly or Boston as long as I'm a reasonable distance drive away. I'll be working remote on off days from wherever. Not going to use up all my vacation days without my wife. But it does mean I can't go too far out. I probably won't get interrupted and could just say tough if they need me back on short notice but I'd rather not tempt fate.
  4. It's no biggee. I can make the call on work later in the week anyway.
  5. Hi. I will be home alone by myself for three weeks when my wife (God bless her) is out of the country. What should I do for three weeks/ I want to go use my snowboard. I have Ikon pass. Have to stay in NE though. Where should I go? Are motels safe to stay in?
  6. Track moved further in from the coast since last night. Still a ways out. Still stoked though.
  7. So, this is pretty wild. Somebody commented on the video describing how the gondola system worked back in the 60s. I thought it was a fixed grip lift that they just ran slow enough to let people on and off since it just looked like a simple haul line and bull wheel design. Apparently the gondolas were detachable, but an attendant had to manually detach the gondola and reattach it to the line as you boarded and got off. Fun stuff. I guess there was a hanger system to hold each gondola as it departed and was taken back up.
  8. Abandoned gondola in New Hampshire. 1300 feet of vert. Legit steeps. Gorgeous views north to the White Mtns. They never had any chairlifts, just the gondola to access the summit and three t-bars on the bottom mountain. The last owner ran an Italian restaurant in Conway, NH.
  9. They should open tomorrow so they can scoop JF.
  10. I'm not expecting anything approaching decent conditions till the second half of December. Will take some time for the weather to change. No worries.
  11. Ontario, is that a sandwich cookie?
  12. Last time I was at CamelBack (or CB as locals call it) was 2015. I punched a french person in the face and broke my pinky finger. It's still crooked cuz it healed weird I can show you sometime.
  13. Saturday looks like the day. No rain. Might go. Need to drive to Hawley later though.
  14. Wow did Blue Mtn get snow today? Looks gr8.
  15. Weather probably isn't going to let them do more than operate on weekends before then anyway.
  16. JF doesn't do tubing anymore. It isn't family friendly enough.
  17. Jack Frost is opening Dec 1
  18. Camelback's base is about the same elevation as the top of Blue Mountain.
  19. Camelback is older and more comfortable with where they are. They're less motivated to make big changes. Which I can sort of appreciate. They have a stable of old fixed grip lifts still while Blue is all high speed now. They did build out the hotel and waterpark thing in 2015 but otherwise I can't think of any major improvements on the mountain recently. Their new high speed lift is only going in because the lift it replaced had a major accident.
