I assume you mean the cirque, this area

I have not done it.  I have not even explored a fraction of Snowmass yet, it’s huge.

Personally I think AMF and Gowdys are the best, the center punch can look a bit wild but is 200 yards of fury and then your in the ditch.

Atomic is probably the real expert but the out of all that stuff is essentially a long ditch unless you stay up on the walls. That's alot of traffic in a small area so it gets beat and is often way more effort than the good stuff up top.

The possible, hanging valley side I think is better steeps for a bunch of reasons.

Boner city and I knew you weren’t joshing!!!  You’re gonna miss an incredible weekend at Blue.

I saw snow in the forecast from a clipper and they are fully open for the first time in 2 years on presidents weekend.....that's a powerful combo of fuckery.

They jacked up bcc yesterday at noon, noon on a Thursday wtf

Even if I lived here I would still go back to blue a couple days a year.  To see everyone for sure but also to keep it real so everyone still knows I'm Jenny from the block.

  3. It could have been enjos cooking but I thought today was better than yesterday as well.

NMDW was most excellent and challenge after the first headwall was very good, Widow and le chute were soft almost from the start and held excellent turns.

It was a little too uneven in places to really fly but a super nice way to spend super bowl Sunday.

  4. It was like opening the oven door going up the lift,  redonk inversion.

I thought everything was pretty good today though it either needed to be 20 degrees colder or mad sunny. It was soft enough piles formed quickly but to heavy to really mach through.

NMDW continues to delight and Challenge actually got pretty ok once it warmed up some.

Raceway/widow/curtsi/whatever was very good from the start and after enjo said how good pdis was we confirmed it was quite smooth.

I don't think it's supposed to get below 40 tonight could make for an extra special superb owl Sunday.

Both mornings. Probably meat Sunday. Those who have been up this week, does it look like enough on Switch for them to surprise us with it tomorrow? Or are we back to waiting for the next cold snap?

Like tp4 said it's not deep enough maybe 6 inches and side has even less but they can get back on it Tuesday night

  6. Work was up my butt the last two days so got out this morning with c1er.

A little hard in spots first thing but generally hyper soft super carving snow. Widow, le chute, lower continues to donate boners.

NMDW was also primo but in 5 tries I couldn't get a clean release, no matter the gap I built I was picking up strays but you so nice to do high speed arcs to air in the soft.

Busy from the drop, nothing insane but lots of racers and doodle turn types. While the weather is hyper nice it's gotten to the point where it is February and should be colder.

When I did snowboard psia I saw this all the time.....

I'm not even really knocking them for all the drills and what not it's just like if your goal was to remove all joy you couldn't be more successful.

Plus they don't get it like really at all,  everything is from the person's perspective which is at the end of the day almost irrelevant. Cog outside com everyone falls, it doesn't matter how good you are or not so why does everyone visualize and conceptualize it from that point of view.

Platty also attracts free heelers in winter & MTB in summer. I'm glad they're doing better & love skiing there- I like all the ungroomed terrain cuz it means less crowds on those trails.

I love plattekill and would much rather ski there but I'm definitely not the type of customer resorts are after.

I would guess the same applies to you but blue gets my pass money and that's really it.  I'm there all the time and quick to bitch when they make mistakes.

Now loyalty and ponying up before the season is worth something but if they had their way it would be all single day family with rentals and food because then they make bank.

Gotta reiterate that man the place was empty

Blue has to hate it but man is it nice when it's like the days of old. No 84737293 people lined up 30ft in front of the gates so no one can get through and then using two lanes. Most importantly no fuck heads endlessly dicking around in shitter stance with absolutely zero awareness.

I think that group was psia, makes sense but most of those dudes are single trick ponies, hence their love of perfecting stupid little c turns and stopping every 20ft to have a confab on edge purchase.

It’s also fairly controversial that ORDA operates those areas. Having the backing of the NY state government means they can invest millions annually into projects that may see frivolous to some (the belleayre gondola for an example). This is creating an issue where the state run ski areas are competing against private businesses. The owners of plattekill are not too happy about that, and rightly so, as people have to drive past belleayre with their shiny new lifts to get to a smaller ski areas whose investments are directly related to how many skier visits they get rather than how much tax revenue the state brings in.

As for Elk…I feel like there have been rumors about the sale for years but it never happens. It may be more that elk is a fairly big ski area for PA, and other areas of that size are being gobbled up by epic and ikon such as camelback and blue. I would expect blue and camelback to be full ikon within a few years to compete with vails stranglehold on PA. I could see vail being at least interested in elk as their only pocono areas are JFBB which are super small. Ikon is the superior product in the pocono-ish area.

Except Lazlo knew the deal at platty when he bought it and so does everyone else in that area.

He has zero pockets and no investors of merit, its like hickory being pissed at Wyndham. Platty doesn't compete with Bell state or not and it's the states job to make money with its assets.

Plattekill has to market the difference in experience and profit from that, straight up they lose to bell everytime or Hunter or Wyndham and they all lose to WF/killy which is 2/3 hrs up the road.

Full disclosure I'd much rather ski platekill but to claim they can't compete due to state coffers is bullshit. It doesn't compete because they have a niche product most snow sports people are less interested in.

Elk will always be on VR or KSL'S hit sheet all you have to do is look at a map but it's not a great place to run a real estate scam so it will be less tempting.

It's already dead. Paid parking. Gtfo

I thought they had gone back after they split from Epiq and not everything was pay.

It just dawned on me too Vail resorts had to sell Abasin to Canadians due to antitrust when they just owned Vail and BC. How can Alterra and VR end up owning all the resorts and that's ok ?

Is WP city owned or Alterra ? Aspen Ski Co isn't theirs but they are in on KSL....Mother fucking capitalism.

Wow!  Just read Alterra in a buying Arapahoe basin. I don’t really ski there much but my oldest loves that mountain.

in other news I see Jackson Hole is staying independent and selling to a local family.

Ugh a basin has soul,  if they kill the beach is it really abasin ?

Could you imagine the day where you hope your local hill gets bought by a super rich dude but here we are.

You are a ninja, you always have good pics but I've never seen you taking photos.

Today was an improvement over yesterday for sure, challenge, coming soon, lazy were all pretty good but still that classic blue sketchiness with random boiler to super soft.

It did get a bit softer when we went back out but unbelievably uneven, lower dis the right side was a legit mogul field and the rest was getting there.

Most excellent to get some sun and it was super nice out to have a beer. It was an excellent weekend though I'm hoping for a turn in conditions,  my back hurts from all the up, down and all around just getting through the trash.
