  1. Today was special, I loved the uneven lazy but for most it just became a noob trap and was tough negotiating.

Falls looked more similar to a bowling alley with distinct lanes and sort of the same for challenge.

I rode Widow, mid, lower and midway while generally atrocious was nothing compared to the cross over which went from the beach to a hockey rink with mad holes in 20ft. How do you even do that ?

I think my favorite part of the day though was salty trucking a snowboareder for going to slow, dude is an animal.

It's always a good day skiing and good to have a full crew with JH gents back in the house but pretty rough conditions, hope tomorrow is at least a bit smoother.

  2. Rode with DW and AS this morning, sooooofffffttttt like leaving legit trenches. Challenge was just perfection, super soft carpet to let them rip. Lots of racer types in the house for some cool high-speed work on Rasins.

It was getting uneven fast due to how soft it is but my best turns of the season so far for sure.

If there is any way it's not mad brick tomorrow that would be real nice

First 3 runs today were great. Then things got really chopped up (34 degrees, very light mist, a little foggy on top). Chunky on top, soft lower down (can I say that on a public forum?). A lot of work to ski it. They removed the features on Barb’s way, hopefully going to blow some snow on it. They blew a little snow last night on switchback. They closed freefall a little after opening. Initial conditions were much better groomed than yesterday.

Switchback ? Finally! Boner city for realz

Yeah, left foot is almost a full size longer and right foot is significantly wider. The Morton's neuroma is worsened by compression so I need find something wide and soon. It was fine until ski season when compressing my foot into my boot. I guess it just got used to having space and once it got back in ski boot prison it got worse. Same thing happened out in Verbier many years back and had some boot work done out there to help because it was to the point where I'd almost pass out taking my boot off from the pain, but I guess things have just gotten worse in my advanced age..

I have the extra ankle or foot bone in both feet, its a genetic thing I don't remember the name of but regardless I like slippers, no lie before Atomic turned me on to the rs130 I could pull my foot almost all the way out like that kind of slipper boot.

Lange makes a wide but I've heard all the wide foot people are on the technica mach 1, it comes in a regular, medium and high volume lasts and apparently is quite the miracle worker.

I know nothing about it personally but as a wide boot guy it's number 1 on my list when I get new boots though I only do it when I  absolutely positively have no other choice. All new boots suck.

  5. Major props, I heard it raining when I woke up and sleeping in was calling just way too hard.

When I actually woke up a little bit ago I and saw it was a baby rain it was like fuck I bet it was good.

No place finds the limits of the outerwear like Blue, so much rain, like legit rain and then it can be so ungodly windy.

Correct.  I was on the chair and it had already left the terminal.  An employee literally forced me to jump off the chair and climb back up onto the platform and then made me skate back and go back behind the gates.  This was all after another employee had given me the ok to go through the gates and get on the chair (his exact words were “you’re good”.). I’m curious what KSL upper management would think hearing that an employee forced a customer to jump off the chairlift.

2 runs later the lifty said to me that he did it, and I quote, “to keep the masses happy as they were yelling.”  I re-iterated with him that another employee had literally told me I could go.

80% of me wants to swallow my pride and let it go, but 20% of me sees the scuff marks on my new pants after having to squeeze through the gates, (since my pass has already scanned initially before he made me go back), and wonders if KSL would be interested in hearing about an employee forcing a customer to jump off the lift after the chair had left the platform and making them climb up from the rocks onto the platform

At least for the pasrs we were yelling for you to make it and then at them when they turned you around.

I say speak your mind, the real actual issue is they don't seem to know how the gates work at the old 6er. The same thing happened where only the outside were open one day last week.

got there around 8:30, skied 11 or so runs, and then had some beers in the row.

put skis back on, had some pocket beers, and got the half price pizza. We got the dreamweaver. But fan of it for $9.50. Not sure if any pizza is worth $19 though…

Love our starting skating faces.....it looks like it could be good pizza but the flavor is the question, domino's is pretty good which you can get anywhere and dirtwolf said Tony's in Palmerton is standard NY style stuff which is pretty good pizza.

  8. Sick trip ! You got some really cool hills in and that's pretty good conditions for NH..... .... for many years the only EC skier on FWT was from Pat's peak,  iirc it has some good steeps for 800 vert or whatever.

Is this trail ever not closed for racing? I was actually thinking about an afternoon/evening session this week and getting on Razors was one of the big reasons I wanted to brave night skiing.

I don't know the schedule anymore as I don't night ski all that much but it used to almost never be open at night.  Lots of college and high schools practice plus I think they don't want that many people on it.

When NMDW is open with no features it's better as is switch, rasins you can literally fall down and it's almost always the hardest snow on the hill. I think it's best when in the slush when it gets more 3d and you can mix in some airs.

    Nice work by Jay Peak.
Trying to make plans to get to Jay this year.

If you can go when it's supposed to snow that's the way.  Pow pow is part of the Jay dealio and as good as it can be it can also be equally terrible and hyper icy

Those SAR people are tough and knowledgeable. I have a lot of respect for them. I thought I read awhile back there is a charge for their services in Vt now.

I think almost all of them do but they are very very reluctant to actually charge anyone in the case it would discourage someone from reporting.

I no longer recall the circumstances but last season in NH there was an incident in the whites were people were clamoring for a charge and Iirc they eventually decided on $400 which is not a deterrent for anyone really.

i was pretty jealous of those that could ski Raisins yesterday.  it did look and sound really nice from the lift yesterday.  Glad to hear they didnt mess it up.

It was a bit hard which makes sense given the urea so I would think post rain may be even better

Yes I am pretty sure it is Sneaky’s. According to my Aspen App, I do Dallas Freeway the most off that lift. Next time I go I really need to explore a new zone, but that is a fun area. Thanks for the beta!

The views from Sneakys or up top at Elk alone make the runs special but the freeway is an absolute classic. You can max short radius carve for like a solid min it's so wide.

Generally I found if your starting at the mall if you work left and then back the crowds are mostly going the other way. They'll ski Sam's knob at 930 because it's right out the mall but nobody is home at 230. Like working back to front at Vail.

Sadly, both days with great conditions were crowded enough that i had my fill at 9:30.  Others have more patience than me for a lift line, but when its at the scanners thats about when its my time to leave.  All this isnt limited to Blue, thank the multi-mountain pass i guess.  weird shit pops up on my FB, and i found this.

i saw that Roundtop was "the busiest ever" saturday and sunday.

But, also saw JF was not real busy.

It's super weird but it's like lemmings or something where they all show up en masse all at the same resort.

Almost all of UT has been insane this year but apparently it's generally only one of the resorts that is way worse than the others. Two weeks ago they 4hr redsnaked Basin, while everywhere else is relatively empty, two days later you can't get to the bird but Alta was empty. A parking reservation at Brighton is like trying to get a table at Delilah at the Wynn but when you get there it's ride on.  None of it makes any .

I have and have had an ikon I'm not hating but they gotta figure the numbers out because for whatever reason they seem to all pick the same places.
