  1. Yeah and he is donating his flakes to the flakiest person he knows, since you seem to be a worthwhile charity.
  2. Good - nice to know that after steamboat, there will be something open this side of the Catskills
  3. I agree, it'll keep the aforementioned out
  4. It was funny to watch
  5. Billy Keil from Big Boulder won the snowboarding slopestyle!!
  6. 6 inches and still dumping. ultra light powder here at Killington. supposed to continue all day with gusts to 30mph
  7. I got video, but notthe cables or the software to post on this computer. Tonight Is the big air and fire where the kids jump through flamethrowers. There is 6 inches of posder and it is still dumping. hopefully the winds will settle down.
  8. THey are doing well. 3 from Vail, 1 Breck, 2 Park City, 3 Whistler several from California were also repped tonight. I think there was a wide diversity of kids from across the US, no one place in particular stood out. I heard of kids from Ohio Michigan Wisconsin NH Vermont and Maine. The mountain Creek kid didn't make the cut
  9. Did anyone hear who won the overall in the 12 and under category?
  10. Nipples and Billy Keil who qualified at Shawnee and calls Big Boulder home made it past the first day!! Wooo hoooo out of 150 kids they are now in the 50 finalists.. Pennsylvania hasn't had kids make it this far to date. That says alot for the progression of our parks.!!
  11. You can get throw away digital cameras now. I think they take 1mb pics, not sure about that though, they are like $20 each. If you do disposable film get the cameras and the film developed while you are out there because the xrays will destroy them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Kate, if you make and send a "sponsor me" video, at a minimum, you'll recieve swag and such. The best way to get sponsors is thru your favorite shop. Since you are a girl they will be real interested in you. There are not enough girls reppin the sport in the freestyle scene. Everyone lists whoever they have recieved something for free as a sponsor. Dont forget to list your mom and dad if they are paying for anything Have someone do an interview with you, list your comps and results, how many days you ski etc etc. Nipples has several "flow sponsors" and more are waiting for his video which should be done this summer. We are sort of waiting to see how he does at this National NextSnow Sports Illustrated Comp he is at now. Full Sponsorship is only for "pro" riders you can find out who they are from the various websites usually listed as "team". Best of Luck! Get out there and make yourself known if that is the direction you want to go. Have fun!
  13. Uhhhhhhhh ......... OK
  14. Good luck all - Nipples is will be in a super pipe tomorrow here at Killington I'll be filming.. Hey what if he wins the overall but is not there to claim the prize?
  15. all the resorts got hurt this year. they couldn't blow snow when they normally could, it is in the budget, maybe they are trying to keep things rollin - lets hope so!
  16. I think that groms gotta get a shot at competing and experience winning - there needs to be a youg kids category
  17. 13 and under 14-17 and then 18 and over.. witht those 3 groups there should be an OPEN category for the everyone to enter for the big prizes. There a lot of 15 year olds out there with mad skills and they should be able to enter an "open" category for the mad prizes!
  18. It's this coming Thursday night in the rain Justo.. http://www.nextxsnow.com/killington_finals.htm Well..... I revived this thread because we leave for his big comp in Killy in a few hours.. I should start a new one but I would like to keep this thread alive sort of like a blog of some trials and tribulations. Send him some well wishes, I'll check in and report as we have time/computer.
  19. Not at Steamboat, unless it has changed, very few western places have night skiing. Keystone CO does Park City UT ..... I qualified on twins in the silver division. It wouldn't be fair for me to strap on a race ski and race, but I am thinking about it
  20. A racing parent just told me last weekend that if you are taking a kid out of state here in PA that there is some type of exemption or justification in travel like that. That it is educational... I understood the gyst of what I was being told, but I do not know how it works, or how true it is. I recieve threatening letters from the schools on a regular basis for my kids unexcused absences. I ignore them. If they want to take us to court and spend our tax money that way....... I look at it this way. No public school teaches life skills like travel does. Interaction with the complexities of travel plus a new area is a skill learned, well worth missing a few weeks of school. not to mention the physical benefits versus the fattening of america in front of the TV's and now computers NJSkiFamily - the nastar championships is something to experience. It is the worlds largest race or so they say. WHen they have these races in these towns like Park City and Steamboat, it literally takes over!! On the plus side it is very family oriented and recreational, sure the competition is there. It's a great atmosphere.
  21. Get over myself? You asked what if you showed up and I said I would give you another. Still stuck in silly little details aren't you?
  22. I have hard cases. But to fit a snowboard and 3 sets of skis you are going to get set back about $250 for 2 of those - of course you will always have them. They have rollers, so it makes it easier to get around. My kids have handled them with some effort since they were 6 yrs old. I don't think they could handle packed soft bags. - they are the most economical. VT has a point, if the hassle has a value and money isn't as much a concern. The rentals can be done in Reno, you will get a better price, plus you may find better gear, since the locals aren't going to likely rent junk. otherwise, with the cost of the rentals you can justify the cost of the new Hardcases. Each case I carry I can get 3 pairs of skis in if I am real creative fitting them together like a jigsaw puzzle.
  23. Which resort(s) are you going too? There are 15 of them around the lake. Where are you staying? With young children and bad knees, I guess I would say, stay at the big places like Heavenly if you are south and Squaw if you are north - only because they have the most to offer. All the other "big ones" like Meadows, Northstar, Sierra, Kirkwood are ready to recieve the tourists - so you really don't have anything to worry about with any of those. They are all big enough to not get bored and all have the same programs. Heavenly has the best views. Some of the smaller places on the other hand, like sugar bowl, cater to the beginner if my memory serves me right. If you are motivated and have skills along with experience at new places, I would suggest making a safari out of your first trip west. Get a rental SUV in Reno. Go to a different place each day be the first on and get early to bed, get a bunch of disposables and get them developed before you leave. Don't let the cameras go through the x-ray machines. Digital cameras are the best. Late season Tahoe is notorious for sierra cement. Good luck with that, you are at the mercy of the weather. As far as packing - some airlines are cracking down on the 50lb weight restriction. Don't overpack!! Your outside layers can be used on multiple days. Concentrate on the underlayers. You only need one sweater for example unless it is important that no one see you in the lodge or bar wearing the same thing from the day before. You can click on this link - scroll down to last January '05 - there are some basic comments if you click on it about each of the places we went. http://www.paskiandride.com/forums/index.p...iew_old&mem=258
