  1. damn... you beat me to it! Uhhhh - either my hero website (noaa.gov) is behind on the updates or....... This is for Tannersville. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. South wind around 6 mph becoming northwest. Saturday: Snow likely, mainly after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Northeast wind between 5 and 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible. Saturday Night: Periods of snow. 2. 6pm flight tonight!!! I doubt I will post detailed reports but I'll try and check in - I got finally got a new digital camera!!
  3. Thanks PeterC!!
  4. Please post a link - I don't remember the website. THANKS! Staff, whatever happened to the idea of getting a video update section created for Bear? I never heard exactly what the details of the format was. I thought it was 2 runs runs combined, if that is the case. If you wiped out on one run you were done for the second and visa versa. I could be wrong though. Hey toast, I have been following judged events and talked to judges and people in the know. It is my understanding, that the difficulty of the trick is just a portion of the score.. Difficulty, amplitude, style, overall impression. Sooooooo better to have a pair of clean 5's than a misty 7 and one crash. I watched the judge at the top talking about the "rules" I also watched how the majority of the competitors were yakking it up and not listening including my son. You never know who might be the next judge, in a judged recreational local event, I told my son that you never know who might be listening. Never complain about the judging, find out what the format is. Tip: hold up a little on your drop, so that the judges have some time to regroup to get a look at you. I saw a couple of very clean cork 5's and 7's, thrown high, landed clean. I thought my son's first 5 met all of the criteria and was much easier on the eyes, but that his 7, that he got in the back seat on and just past he knuckle, wouldn't have scored as high....... JUST MY OPINION!!
  5. Third or fourth year running, we leave and the east finally gets snow.. ps - we threw 3 bras
  6. Have you found the http://www.nastar.com website? There is tons of info on how it all works. I would explain now, but I have to run. Hi Beachie!!!
  7. You didn't say where you are staying. If this is your first trip, then it is my opinion that first off all prepare yourself for the altitude with all the various remedies, diamox, lots a water no caffiene, no alcohol. etc etc A separate thread would be in order for that. First trip to summit county - you should do the safari thing!!! you said voucher. I believe that voucher is good for Keystone, Breck and Vail - then you have choices. I would take the pass to WinterPark on a Blue bird day (watch the weather) the drive and the scenery is incomprable and then you have Copper or A-Basin - I would choose Vail - take the first lift and drop through china bowl and head back up to Blue Sky as fast as you can and take the natural 1/2 pipe runs on skiers right for first tracks.. head back to the top of china bowl for lunch. cool down on the front side or take in the sites of the bowls adjacent to china bowl. Avoid the front side, that is where everyone else is. Breck - you have to go all the way to the top to experience the hieght of the altitude. I think the vert there is 3400 but I am not sure if you can do it all in one run, not sure you can any way Keystone. - Here again work your way as far back as possible as fast as possible - your friend will know the hiddengems Winter Park - it the locals mountain with mostly Denverites, wanna see some real bump runs, nothing compares to Mary Jane for the number of bump runs that I have ever seen anywhere. A-basin because this year there are areas open that aren't normally open due to epic amounts of snow (that could change by March) Copper - seems to me to get crowded - probably a least fave Beaver Creek - it is the Deer valley of colorado - nice place - top shelf grooming - been there done that.. save it for another year unless you are a celebrity and want to hob nob with the rich and famous. (Vail is a little snooty too)

    New Skis?

Park skis are different Metz.... if he mounts them in a progressive position then 165-175 will be ok for him. To give you an idea Nipples is 85lbs and on a 150cm His are mounted 1 cm behind center which is 1 cm in front of Manufacturers recomendations. Our Volkl Karmas are under the radar and IMO the cadillacs of twins.. As you and I are both aware, it is a phenomenally well performing ski. I tuned them with a 3 degree side edge. Yesterday, it didn't matter, corn, ice, mashed taters... The performance makes my Line Darksides look like crap. I actually am going to run some Nastar gates with them.. I suspect something but won't know until I try.
  9. That is funny!!!! Now, when you have a triple take off, is it called Papa, Mama and Baby??
  10. you would have to go on a huge diet to get down to my weight class or I would have to bulk up like a sumo wrestler to get into yours
  11. In retrospect, at this point, I am going to have to say NO!! If all things remain the same (competitions) then I think we will be doing the suitcase/hotel room thing like last year. We get to bed earlier, get up earlier, keep all the gear more organized, don't have to clean, make beds, cook, decorate, etc etc. Even so, I know that Ridge is done skiing by 3 pm (bored) steven hates the park, mom is stressed with the mess, I am unhappy that no one seems to be pumped to leave Friday night like they were last year. Yesterday was our last day in the Poconos - so with that said, I'll wait till April to make a decision.

    Rumors

I think the majority of us (laricks) would rather ski than wait in line with hundreds of others with a marks alot. They are supposed to conduct clinics. If there is snow then we are there. Doug Lewis, D$, AJ, Koz, were all really friendly at PC last March - what made it even better, was that the Nastar people got Ridge up close and personal. It's too bad that these kind of events can't happen at the beginning of the season for inspiration. Does anyone know if they are doing the BODE golf thing again this year?
  13. I think there was someone taking pics at BLUE - it looked to be a professional type of camera. If anyone hears or knows if they were, could they let me know? Dude, how did you know that they were taking pics at the PA cup?
  14. There is a possibility of jumping ship to Blue.. Depends on whether my other ex half dumps the North Ridge house. Week night gates are not a possibility due to traffic patterns and work schedules, bear is..

    Rumors

It's a tough call Adam,, I am all for getting signatures and having fun, but if there is no snow and there is snow at Loon, we may head up there for the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge thing. (they both are "fun" races) It is on our calendar for sure!! Ridge has a jacket signed by several UST members and it would really cool to get some more. But... that is about it if there is no snow to race on.

    new skis

    what length are your P60's?
  17. Younger guys do really well at those clubs
  18. Me too...... No Nastar on Saturday due to conditions. BTW - It doesn't look as though we will be back to CB or anywhere else this year unless they are open weekend of 3/12 and even then, the liklihood is greater that there will be some other comp that weekend. Volkl gets another year to get some gate skills, besides he needs it!
  19. We did season passes at CB for race and all mountain hanging out and Bear for Park and some week night gates. BTW - I realized on the way home today that this was our last weekend in the Poconos!
  20. Dude - one of the most common sayings is those who cant, teach.... After all look at Ski999 Hey, but really, to beat on anyone who dedicates their time to teaching or coaching is.... I dunno, it's rude to that individual. These people are doing it for the love of the sport not for the money. Sure there are good coaches, bad coaches, great coaches.. I respect that you won't respect a coach who can't do the stuff they are teaching. That is your choice, but it seems to me that you think everyone should have that opinion.
  21. Justo this is a good edit of a rail line that steven took. The staircase is hard to see. Nothing extra hard, a nice well maintain park this was from last sunday. http://media.newschoolers.com/uploads/memb...ples%20edit.wmv
  22. Uhhhh - several people who stopped here in the poconos said that We were in much better shape than the places they were in at Vermont. However they are getting snow now and we are not
  23. Metz - I saw you make a couple of runs on Raceway - you are certainly looking improved! You still got those feet too close together IMO, comparitively.
  24. Dalbello Kryptons are the kind of boot you either love or hate.. I guy approached me in the Elk parking lot a week ago. He has his size 9 for sale for $225 only worn twice. He said "there wasn't enough under foot". They have a large toe box. You sacrifice performance for comfort. I love mine!! When I race, I have to think hard about not curling my toes.
