This is the February update for Camp of Champions. There are a lot of Campers from our area headed to BC this summer. If you have ever dreamed about going to a summer camp, then this is the year. The snowfall totals to date will make this great Camp even better. Of Special note: Aaron Muss 10 yrs old, close friend of Nipples and Ridge and a member of the PASR Nastar Team got honorable mention for his accomplishments at Mount Baker. Go AJ!!!! THE INCREDIBLE SEASON First was record snowfall for the month of January, then the Banked Slalom and now the Olympics. There were campers and coaches going off around the world. What an incredible season so far. We have record snowfall in Whistler, with 15 feet of snow falling. The glacier got even more than that so when Arena Snowparks busts out all the equipment this summer to build the new expanded park, it?s going to be awesome. So much snow? So many ideas of what to build? you?ll just have to come up and check it out for yourself. It?s going to be a summer to remember. OUR DH MOUNTAIN BIKE CAMP WEBSITE IS FULLY LAUNCHED The full site is up. Find out everything you need to know about the coolest new addition to Camp of Champions. Ride the sickest downhill bike park in the world with the usual fantastic Camp of Champions coaches showing you how it?s done. It?s going to be an amazing summer with snowboarding and skiing pushing the limits on the glacier and mountain biking pushing the limits on The Whistler Bike Park. Don?t miss it, sign up today. DAKINE AND LEVEL GLOVES SUPPORT COC FOR SUMMER 2006 Two of our biggest sponsors throw down again for this summer. The limited edition COC Dakine backpacks and Level gloves are back for 06 in our demo room during camp. These signature items are only available during the 5 weeks of summer camp. OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS The Olympics were off the hook for campers ripping it up in Torino. Previous campers (from so far back I can?t even remember what year it was) Shaun White and Danny Kass take it all home after being coached by another ex camper, Ricky Bauer. We are also really proud of previous camper Mercedes Nichol going to the games for Canada. While you are watching the games, one of the announcers, Tara Teigen, is our head coach. Go COC Olympians Go! You are going to hear some good Olympic stories when you come to camp this summer. Mt. Baker Banked Slalom The Mt. Baker Banked Slalom went down a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. Coaches and campers were ripping the hill to shreds. Coaches Rob Kingwill and Guy Duchesnes were third and second in Mens Pro. Aaron Muss won the Next Generation class and stuck a nice cliff riding with DCP. Great work everyone.

Doug and Atomic Jeff almost got kicked out!
Papasteeze replied to AtomicSkier's topic in Blue Mountain
To be called a "coach" requires that a lot of fees be paid to attend some classes. -
Elk if they are still open.

Any one going to the PASR Day tomorrow at Shawnee?
Papasteeze replied to lurker's topic in Other Mountains
Most everyone has season tickets to a particular mountain. The PASR day get togethers work best pre and post season... It was a nice idea at the beginning of the season, but getting a group together proved to be fruitless this season. BTW Props to Metz who got hookups from some shops as incentives to come out. The problem is mostly the core posters here are glued to thier mountains for mostly monetary reasons. Then there are people like my family who are competing or traveling every week. Mix in some scattered frequenters all rolling in and out at different parts of the days combined with racers and riders and diamond vertical lappers and you end up with a hodge podge. -
How much does he weigh? I'd say 135cm with a 10-11 meter side cut. Getting him some one on one to get the basic carving skills need for racing. Prolly be at BC on Thursday night. He can try out a set of 138cm to see how he likes them if you are going to be around

Breckenridge management rocks, I got hook ups for Ridge - just had to work around the USSA coaches. BTW I think Ridge will qualify for the Nastar nationals and represent Breck at Steamboat. It's only fitting that he do that since they seem to be happy to have him/us.. More details to follow thursday nite.

Thank god for a pow day 12"+ forecasted for wednesday... Yeah the kids are loving it!! Really doesn't matter what I think..............

Hello From Breck!!! Ok I wanna be positive, but Ridge and I miss the East Coast Ice.. The snow is soooo sticky it was -15 the first day and most of the runs are mild blues.. The Race team is the same exclusionary bunch that they are back east. Ridge easily stomps them all! The coaches on the Breck team are the same dicks. they take the fun out of snow sports. That has been my opinion and unless you cow tow to thier feet and get your knees dirty they are not welcoming to our youth. It was hilarious to watch kids skidding gates and complaining that it was Icy - The parks are epic but you spend 5 minutes on a run to to get to them and another 10 minutes on a lift. Steven is going soooooo big. Good stuff... Beautiful scenery, great company with friends, but there is some place we would rather be. I'll get pics up soon.
-
hope not... there is stuff open that hasn't been open in 10 years - I hoping for bluebird days and untouched back country
-
You will have to fill me in on the joke. We do have friends on the same flight though. wiggle, woot, halo, angry, banghead???? damn, dude you are all over the place! Ok this is where I will admit, I peaked at your post Doug.

Great points Justo.. You are a smart guy! I want you for a judge in these comps. seriously, no sarcsim... of all the people who post on MB's - You make the most sense. Now, with that said, there should be agreed upon list on what trick is best. Full house beats two pair kind of thing.

8 days on the snow!! ---- Park Rats, view this and weep. Here is a recent video for those of you who have newschoolers accounts. http://media.newschoolers.com/uploads/cont...geFinalEdit.wmv

thanks!! I am getting old and sometimes hear things.. But I swore I heard different, but hey thats cause the competitors were all gabbing when the lead judge was explaining the format at the top of the hill. Based on the criteria for judging.. difficulty is only one sixth out of 2 categories. I don't want to be a judge, I can see how if a point score is awarded to each of those categories how the crowd favorite (wow factor) won't win Overall Impression variety difficulty execution Technical take off & landing amplitude Speed

I used a dark black super hard molybendenum on Nipples skis last night due to the slow new man made snow. (He didn't have to pole and skate after I put it on to get speed on his in-run) He made 4 runs and it mostly appears to NOT wear off.. Certain waxes are made for certain conditions and stay well put. Now - that 40 gram block was $30 on normally costs about $60 (i bought it in the summer)..

INTERMEDIATES my butt!!! sandbaggers! anyone who can cork should be expert. Which leads me to another point. Stop with the ability categories!!!!!!!!!!!! Ages are the only way to go! Then you/they should have one open class (like pro) where the mad money and prizes are to entice the 15 year olds who are going huge like you 2 guys.. you guys do have skills though, props! It would help to know if it was the best of 2 runs or 2 runs combined.

tough call - hey, how come you didn't say hello? I saw Kevin and he looked good, no doubt. However I think that many revolutions on that small of a jump kind of ruins the style. Of course, I also think that wearing your pants low should be a style No-No too I REALLY don't know, but it is appearing to be the 2 runs combined were scored. I saw both runs of girls and danielle landed a 3 first run second run washed out a bit. the other girls at best managed 180's - She placed 3rd? I really think the judges were looking for something more than difficulty. I heard a little bit of nepotism was there. Sucks for the kids, but parents should not be judges. As I get deeper and deeper into this stuff, I can tell you this. I would make it REALLY clear, even to go to as far examples, like emphasize that diffulty - like cork bazillion - is only considered as 25% of the score (if that is the case) to the contestants. I think it would be great to see what judges use for scoring sheets as an example. This is a good topic and if I had administration I would split this topic and label it freestyle judging.
