  1. I like Johnny laws positive analysis. Shit. his experience the included a ski pole through a leg and he still managed to raise the stoke levels. You should be in marketing bro.
  2. Ride what street are you getting your info from? Have you been there lately? In fact the whole steel stacks area is doing very well.
  3. Weren't they were on some kind of power trip because they were on a TV show?
  4. I give credit where credit is due. I never hated blue. It used to be my jam (do people still say "my jam" ) when I lived in SEPA . Blue's snow isn't the best by far but their lifts and trails are the best in the area, plus I really like what they've done with the place. The funnel cake stand is gone, the litter issue seems to be gone. They cut new trails. They have 2 high speed lifts now and the effort to stay open late last year and open early is a plus. Let's be honest they've done everything that Jack Frost hasn't. I've skied big boulder much more than I wanted to over the past few years almost to the point where I kinda hope Friday night was my last day there for the season. I'm not a huge fan of the place. They ruined the one fun section on the mountain when they ripped the trees out of snow drift (still scratching my head there) and let's be honest, if you're not into park, it kinda sucks. I'm partial to frost mainly because I can ski trees but I have my gripes with their awful lifts and their lack of improvements over the years. I don't see any changes happening there especially since frost has clearly taken a back seat to boulder which is bull shit; but BB has the lights so they really have no choice. I'm fairly certain that Jack Frost will only see improvements if it was under new or separate ownership which isn't going to happen but for now the best they can do is take a freaking lawn mower to east mountain. Every other area has seen tangible improvements (lifts, lodge improvements etc) over the past few years except frost. Locally I'm really only focused on skiing blue, montage, frost and elk. Elk is about 65 miles from home and expensive as hell so that's usually good for once a season. Montage always deserves some time. It's on the nep card and they have the Saturday deal so I'll be there. it's also 45 minutes away so not the best option for a for a quick or RAW sesh. So that leaves me with frost and blue but honestly though I'm at the point where I'm just looking to ski new places here and out west. Hoping in the time machine and hitting some of the areas that on the WNEP card that I've yet to ski like Denton should also be a blast this year.
  5. Main street is the closest thing to legit skiing in PA right now. I'm pulling for blue to pull it off for next weekend.
  6. The Greek Peakless NEP cards seem to be selling less frequently. 221 left.
  7. Forgot about the park stuff. I guess it's worth it if you are into that sort of thing.
  8. charging $25 this weekend , real money, not monopoly money. real actual dollars.
  9. 6 runs in. The lines moving pretty quickly. crowds are thinning. I'm skiing so it's all good.
  10. So I'm at the f'ing zoo that is big boulder.
  11. Ride I like Elk a lot but to say it can't be mentioned in the same breath as the Pocono areas is a bit much. JFs trees, elevator etc are just as fun as anything at elk. Good snow on razors or switch back the same. That's all. Fan boy all you want. It's all good.
  12. Dude elk isn't heaven on earth. Blue has the funnest trails in the area. Whoever cut them knew their shit.
  13. I know right. While I would love to be nit picking over what constitutes the rockies, this ass area is where I reside. Actually it's not bad. Only ass when compared to 95% of other mountain regions based on the fact that the skiing sucks in comparison.
  14. There's a PJ weilehans in Beltsville. Used to be platz's
  15. Tell me about it. I've been waiting for this thing for a decade.
  16. That's what the Pocono mountain vacation bureau calls the poconos. That doesn't mean that it's the poconos proper. Pocono is basically a native American word to describe what is now the Delaware water gap. The "Poconos" used to only consist of eastern Monroe and pike counties. They added all 4 counties for marketing purposes. Most people in places like Palmerton and Lehighton will tell you that they don't live in the poconos.
  17. Technically the Poconos and the Catskills are a raised plateau cut and formed by glaciers. None of them are true mountains. So yes, elk, jack frost bellayere are technically the same geologic feature. That being said, I live in carbon County and I don't consider myself to be in the poconos. I reserve that title for most of Monroe, pike and Wayne. I would call carbon and the West end of Monroe the western poconos.
  18. When the Penn forest interchange (on 476) opens next year it will be by far quicker to get to BB than Blue. Elk is remote. I don't consider the Pocono areas remote.
