What's left to ski locally this spring?
RidgeRacer replied to Ski2Live Live2Ski's topic in General Chat
You can make it to bellayere (and Plattekill) heading due North from the poconos. It's about 50 miles less mileage wise and there are no tolls but travel time is the same as is if you were taking the thruway since you're traveling on secondary Roads and through small towns for the most part (that and the roads in the Catskill Park are shit.) for hunter / Wyndham your better off taking the thruway from PA. -
I think Blue can pull it off. The forecast isn't bad for this week. When's the last time Blue was last to close in PA?
-
See you guys in about 10 minutes
-
I'm in I'll be there in the morning. Running to Wegmans for lunch tell me what we need
-
I never compared anything. No one broke out the topo maps. I talked about what I think being in the high Peaks feels like.
-
What the hell are you going off about? Did I compare the high peaks to the Tetons or the beartooths or some of the biggest mountains in the west? And no I've never seen them but I have seen all of the Wasatch, the front range in CO, North Lake Tahoe, So Cal, Nevada, all of Arizona (including the San Francisco peaks up north) and the high Peaks are beautiful in their own way. (vert wise not elevation wise). Calm the hell down.
-
No it isn't. I'm not talking about the skiing, just the vistas etc.
-
The ADK High Peaks (and probably the presidentials - never been) feel a lot different than most of the other mountains in the east. Almost western like.
-
Doesn't sound like it based on their last communication. Sounds like one giant park for this weekend.
-
I like to consider the ADKs as their own big beautiful territory.
-
Nice dude. Thanks.

Looks like Camelback may be the last to close in PA. Per BB... "This is no joke big boulder PARK will be open this weekend! And it is going to be SICK-park CREW is rebuilding everything!! NEW setups, old setups and adding as many rails, boxes and jumps as they can! This is going to be an EPIC closing weekend so don't miss it!" Despite the fact that the above actually has me wanting to take 15 bucks and use it to donate to the snooki for president campaign rather than spend it there this weekend, sucks to hear that they're closing.

I'm 76.563% in right now. I have the little guys b day happening the next day and need to do a ton of stuff for that but should be able pop in for a little in the am. I wanted to make something but may end up bringing something yet to be determined.
-
Platty is closed unfortunately. Spring skiing is so choice right now. Their missing out. OK one more and I'm out
-
Pop quiz. Anyone know what area that is out there (looking west off of the deer run trail)? I have no idea. Just curious. Plattekill?

Outside of Cathedral Brook Bell is not much better terrain wise or length wise than Blue. The full 1400 vert is a chore but most runs off of super chief are probably around 1200 or so. The t hawk is maybe 1k. It's wider and the snow is soft and plentiful. And there are also a shit ton of trees. Bumpers this is your place. I couldn't see coming here when PA is open but for post PA, spring skiing this may become a tradition.

All the lifties got jokes today. Has me SMH. shaking my hippie
-
Whatev Trev. Go stomp stoke in another thread. I'm eating a brownie. Go ahead and tell me why the brownies at Sugarbush are better ;-)
-
Cathedral Brook is open. Took off the skis and hiked over. Tons of snow in there. The C Brook area is au natural I believe. Some nice trees and pitch. has my legs burning.
-
Tree's still skiable off of the tomahawk lift. Crunchy but skiable. Really just a perfect spring skiing day. Not many people here but for those that are it's a party. Music and shit. Lots of fun.
-
Soft cord everywhere. Bumps are softening up. Just skied the mighty Onetora which was lovely (pics below) the tomahawk liftie just told me that they were closing. I was about to go ape shit until he said April fools.. Bastard. Thanks for being a stoke stomper ride.

Arrived not too long ago. The time machine got me here in 2 hours and 45 minutes. 33 degrees and sunny. Snow is fantastic right now.
