  1. I think they've reduced their hyping after taking a lot of abuse for doing it early on. Probably one of the better ones on FB.
  2. I've totally stopped listening to FB, TV, radio, etc. weather, as it's all hype. I take what Mother Nature gives and slide on it. You can't change it anyway... My Subaru's will get me to the mountain and back, regardless (save ice storms).
  3. I can remember standing at the top of Main Street waiting for the groomers to pass and Ski Patrol to give the go ahead. There was always a mad rush down the freshly groomed cord. The trick was trying to time it right, so you're up at the top just prior to them opening, but not so early that you're standing around for a long time. Many times I was caught riding the lift, watching the mass ski down the just opened run.
  4. Where's Ray? They need to bring back the late afternoon/early evening re-grooming!
  5. Oh yeah, forgot about Breck's. Damn straight!
  6. What's worse is when we get a lousy 2" here and people drive like 10 MPH with their hazard lights on!! At least those down in Atlanta have an excuse.
  7. Yet another article surfaces. If Blue is any indication, I'd say it's like a 20-1 ratio of boarders to skiers, if not more and surely not on the decline... http://www.outsideonline.com/outdoor-adventure/snow-sports/skiing-and-snowboarding/snowboarding/Snowboarding-Is-Screwed.html
  8. Get the speed runs on Razors out of system early, typically before racers close it and the snow is hard/fast. Eventually make way back to Razors after racers are done, depending on condition of bumps, Switchback, etc. However, now that there are bumps on Nightmare, that run is a fun mix, quick bump run to a high-speed runout (nice lip about 50yds down from where Paradise connects). Motivation to stay later? Skiing! 35 runs Saturday, just couldn't stop...
  9. As we were leaving, there seemed to be a lot of people coming in... With the 6-pack VIP line, the lap difference between the 6-pack and doubles is negligible.
  10. Just returned from yet another spectacular day at Blue, wow! Day started out at a balmy 10*, booting up to beautiful, clear blue sky, with light winds. Luckily I had on enough layers for the temp! Snow was just awesome, with a mix of fresh, cold powder, mixed with a set of new man-made and groomed to, well, almost perfection. Heading to Nightmare to Dreamweaver on squeaky cold snow. With the temperature and speed of the snow making for wicked fast run, the wind chill my face hurt so bad, it felt like it was on fire. Took a early run down Paradise, which the snow truly was! Headed over to Main Street for a speed run on it, and it truly was magnificent. Excellent snow, and beautiful grooming made for a bunch of great runs. Ended up lapping Barney's and Sleepy Hollow for the rest of the morning, as the sun rose over the mountain, it lit up the bumps perfectly. On to about 10:00 or so, all of a sudden the clouds rolled in and there went the sun, flat light and temps began to rise a bit. Took a few runs down Chute, but it wasn't too much fun, lots of ice and distance between bumps turned me off. However, the entertainment of watching MANY renters trying their hand at it made for some interesting spectacles. About 2:00pm rolled around and what have we here? Flakes flying yet again!!! Nice squall set in and put down a paper thin coating of fresh. Nothing to speak about, but it was rather pleasant to have two consecutive snow days at Blue! Another couple of runs through the glades and Barney's, along with the side run of fresh on Main Street and called it a day. One of the best weekends at Blue that I can remember.
  11. Yesterday at Blue was just magnificent. Got into parking lot around 7:25 to a brisk 14 degrees and started booting up, with a flake or two beginning to fly. Snow started a steady fly around 8:30-9:00, which everyone expected to start around 10. Snow everywhere was glorious man-made powder, perfectly groomed, save Switchback which still had it's share of marbles here and there. Snow was coming down quite heavy by 10, showing no signs of letting up. Looking up the north side of Mountain Drive, people were coming down at a crawl, which explains the closure. Driving must have been pretty hairy. With all the snow, there was nary a bad run to be had. All the bumps where filling in with fresh powder, making them very attractive. They blew snow in Sleepy Hollow glade, but not many were venturing in. Snow was hard wells, but carveable. By 4, the snow had pretty much stopped and blue skies were breaking with a little bit of remaining sun shining through, making for a fitting end to a spectacular day.
  12. Dunkin Donuts coffee does it to me, great laxative that stuff is!
  13. Must be something in the air up there...
  14. Should you fill in little gouges? Will that melt-in stuff allow the wax to soak in like the real ptex base does? I've heard conflicting reports.
  15. Maybe he's better off??? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2544143/Russias-Olympic-toilet-two-bicle-Picture-unusual-lavatories-Sochi-village-cause-stink-Twitter.html
  16. Looks like the 6-pack is running now, per webcams!
  17. Hilarious! It's probably happened to all of us at one time or another. Just the other day, I was standing in the doubles and a slight tremor hit. I debated whether to pull a 180 and head to the valley, but I was too close to the gate for that, so I rode the lift, hoping... Luckily I made it to the summit and hauled it to the lodge, where I then debated holding another 40 min. ride home and probably facing a level 5 or worse or the summit lodge shitters. I chose the shitters... With the snow storm, I'm sure deliveries are delayed. I've got a UPS delivery that has been. They better get their shit together for this weekend, this snow and a bit warmer temps are gonna bring out everyone!
  18. Guess my ski patrol source wasn't all that reliable...
  19. I had heard, when they put in the original Challenge double, that they sized the footings/supports for a future 6-pack. If so, they wouldn't have had to shell out the total expense when they finally converted.
  20. Have to agree, with all that he's done/accomplished, he's got a far better chance at a medal.
  21. Probably don't do shit to maintain the equipment and then just scramble when shit breaks... Looks like the snow line is along the blue ridge, webcams look like there's hardly anything falling up there at all. Monday when 6-pack was down, went over to quad and there was a mech hauling a blower or heater with big duct on it over to the 6-pack.
