  1. A tour guide to point at darkness?
  2. Okay. Last week. Views from where they are putting in the new chairlift.
  3. Since this is logging country, not cowboy country, they might take a chain saw to you.. Most of the cowboys are on the Eastern side of the Divide.
  4. Yeah, don't wear one here.. You'll look like a Texan.
  5. Doug, even though I have NO desire to see you here that is almost overcome by the idea of seeing you in a fanny flap...
  6. We dropped like a rock. Apparently last year's eighth produced our record skier visits and they got here and found one of the foggiest winters ever, so they all went home and voted. I might even enjoy Presidents week this year. :-)
  7. The sister of a friend has no water, no electricity, no phone service, and no way out. Supposedly they are looking to get a helicopter to her.
  8. ? Talking about that guy who started cutting down trees that didn't belong to him to make a ski resort? He ought to be in jail.
  9. I agree. But, what actually used to happen was they'd try to open on Thanksgiving, they'd use up a ton of their money and water ration (this is the West) on doing it. They'd get mediocre to good stuff on part of the mountain. People would come on Thanksgiving weekend, then not come again until place was 100% and their Christmas shopping was done. After all, who's skiing in early December? Not the people dropping big bucks on airfare and hotel. The payoff monetarily just wasn't there, PLUS the water ration meant that they'd jeopardized their future ability to patch things later during the height of the season. So, even our famous La Nina season, where they opened with 100%, and clearly could have opened a week sooner, they didn't. Opening day is 12/7.
  10. More to the point, my first day on skis will be in 86 days.
  11. I've seen that elsewhere, many times.
  12. Plus, I would never provide resort snowfall statistics as evidence of anything. There is no consistency behind WHEN, or WHERE they measure. A nine inch difference just means they are the same. Spread nine inches over 120 day season. What's that, less than a tenth of an inch a day? Doesn't even cover gravel. Maybe compare their base depth on the last day and then you'll learn something.
  13. Depends on your goals. Jeff's goal might be to land a rich wife.
  14. http://www.linkedin.com/pub/jesse-boyd/14/8b1/a91 The fact that he (Huff) was using JFBB's shipping accounts makes me wonder if all the resorts they own aren't being used as fronts for something bigger.
  15. Might spend a few days in Montana.
  16. I'm kind of alarmed that he's attached to this board, myself.
  17. This site Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Seriously, the topic with the most activity is "Doug". And I'm not even reading his posts.
  18. Believe me, I no longer qualify.
  19. It needs a new name. Cougar Ridge or something. Even Luzerne Mountain would be an improvement.
  20. Apparently, Warren Miller Entertainment was here in January. http://player.vimeo.com/video/71989338 There's three glimpses in the trailer - probably means 30 seconds in the actual movie. My understanding is that 5-7 minutes of the film is in Montana, which includes Big Sky, and maybe Red Lodge as well, so how much time will we get? I do know that they were shooting something with a guy named David Steele sometime last season..
  21. A local guy picked up a pair with bindings from that sale for $349!
  22. Just a tip. If you like Nordica, there is a sale going on at Start Haus for the last couple weeks of skis with cosmetic blemishes. I picked up a pair of 2013 skis there for Siblet for $299. I missed the sale last year, damn it, it started just as I picked up my newly-mounted skis. This was advertised on Epic and I understand 100 of us have already hit it hard, but there appear to be many skis left. http://shop.starthaus.com/store/pc/2013-Nordica-Blemish-Ski-Sale-c311.htm?m=1&ProdSort=1&catviewall=t&idCategory=311
  23. I'm not a mountain biker, but apparently we have a pretty good setup here: http://www.mtnadvisor.com/article/the-best-bike-parks-in-the-mountain-west/?id=239
  24. He'd probably follow me into the trees, and then the contest would be to see who left whom in the tree well.
  25. You're heading to Seattle or something?
