Is that why there were camera crews on the mountain yesterday? I thought they were just local news people. One of the stations down here in Philadelphia always show Camelback during the weather portion of their show. I just thought it was the same type of thing.

I also heard the ticket scanner and a patrolman yesterday by the upper mountain scan-in entrance talking about a ski patrol reality show. I didn't think anything of it until I read this post.

But come on, Blue Mountain ski patrol? No offense to any of its members. But if you want real ski patrol why don't you cover the crew at Aspen Highlands. Do you know what they have to do to open up Highlands Bowl? Oh yeah, Warren Miller already covered them in a movie.

My uncle is on the ski patrol and told me all about it. Its not definite that Blue mt will be chosen for the reality show, out of a handful of mt's, its narrowed down to blue mt, and some mt in vermont, right now they are filming for a pilot to be compared to vermonts and whoevers mt seems more insteresting will win the show. I was told that it is most likely gonna be here because we have had the most injuries so far haha. The crew is working simultaneously with ski patrol with responding to calls on the mt, so when you get hurt, there will be a camera in your face to add to injury. It sounds like it will be pretty interesting to watch because of the countless amounts of noobs at blue mt who are going to find strange ways to hurt themselves. Oh and the first day they started filming, a skier twisted his leg completely 180 degrees when he fell and the camera crew got footage of the patroller retwisted his leg back to normal, they rewinded that part all night when they reveiwed their footage haha.

From what I've heard they are trying to feature a lot of the younger patrollers, which isn't surprising at all. Gotta get those ratings. Also, not sure how true the stat is cuz I've been unable to find a reputable table anywhere, but I heard that for last season Blue Mountain had THE MOST injuries out of any mountain in the country, which is why they've chosen to even come to Blue in the first place.

Finally, this weekend they brought the cameras onto the kids hill (explorers), which raised some eyebrows because of the legal implications of people not signing waivers. They are not a news crew and this isn't journalism, so they need to have people sign waivers if they are going to be featured in any footage or they will risk being sued.

I really hate those patrollers, I got my first "ticket" a few weeks back for "traveling with excessive speeds" down paradise. I wasn't even going that fast and I probably could of out run the dude but I didn't want to risk having the season pass taken. I then had to go sit in a room for 10 minutes while the guy called me in and made sure i hadn't been pulle over before, otherwise he said he would have revoked my pass for a week, i hate those overprotective patrollers sometimes.(even though I know they are just doing their jobs) <_<

As long as you didn;t wind up in the database...They'll whistle at you whether you're going 10mph or 40mph.. even if you're in control and even if there's nobody on the entire trail...but if you go down Paradise in a power wedge turkey tuck going 25mph screaming..."Look Out"..they don't do anything because it makes them feel good about their ability. There are some cool patrollers who are just there to just ski or get free skiing for their family but their are some gaywad patrollers who are only there for the commaraderie and circle jerks..and those are the ones who always ski with their whistle in their mouths..although they'd prefer to have something else in their mouths..

The sucky part is that I think they put me in the data-base, because after the guy said I wasn't in the system, the guy said "well, this is one we definetily need to add", I think it was because I was with my snowboarder friend who also got pulled over. The worst part about the whole story is that while we were being "escorted" to the first aid building, a gaper that was in tuck down home strecth actually plowed me down from behind going in a full pizza-tuck... and the patroller asked him if he was alright!! Besides for this one time, I have never had any probelm with the patroll and thought they were pretty cool.

hahaha, sounds like its time for a staged accident aftermath... i can see it now. wear some old ripped up gear, maybe an old broken board.. climb a few feet off the trail, into the trees... spray ketchup all over your face & on the ground.. then when they get the camera there, jump up and yell, youve been punk'd...that would at least be fun to do to ski patrol, even if they never put it on the show.

but im sure you could get in trouble for doing that, too..
