Popular Post toast21602 Posted February 22 Popular Post Report Posted February 22 (edited) It's always fun to add a mountain to the stat manager that hasn't been officially logged yet even though I'm sure somebody has been here.(Had to add it twice because I forgot to add ", CT" the first time like a dummy) Just around a 3 hour ride from the LV. Fun little hill. Poked around for three hours and skied every run with repeats of my favorites. Nice place with a major old school feel which I always enjoy. No lift lines or anything even though the lot was pretty filled. I'm not sure it gets much more crowded than it was today. The place even had a little on-mountain eatery. Light snow fell the entire time but accumulated to nothing. Just purely good for the vibes. While I was there I heard talk of them closing tomorrow because of the winds and it looks like that is now official. If anybody wants to check out a small spot on the Indy pass and appreciates the old school feel, I highly recommend. Because of all the snow this year the cut glades and other random areas were all in play and had some good snow even with the warmer temps last week. The property is on state park lands so they cannot sell but you are allowed to BYO which is nice. Enjoying a bevy at Hot Plate Brewing now. Edited February 23 by toast21602 4
EdBacon Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 That's fun. I'll need to make a stop there sometime. Feel like it'd be a good stop over driving back from VT or NH. 1
Icecoast Posted February 23 Report Posted February 23 Mohawk is awesome. I went a couple years ago on Indy and it was some of the best groomed conditions I’ve ever ridden. They also have an uphill route that’s open all day which is really cool. 3
trackbiker Posted February 24 Report Posted February 24 Hit Mohawk on a Friday back in January for the first time on the way to the Berkshires. Nice well run mountain. Nothing hard there. Only one trail that I would call an upper blue or lower black. But lots of fun cruisers. The lodge is rustic and large. Not a bad place to stop to break up the trip heading north.
indiggio Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 Hit it once a couple of years back on the way home from a NE Indy tour on a Sunday. Super fun little mountain out in the middle of nowhere. Was totally overrun by families and children, but still was a hoot to bop around for a couple of hours. The best thing about the Indy pass is the opportunity to hit little Mom & Pop, out-of-the-way mountains like this one. 2 1

And yes, Indy makes hitting these places worth the trip and experience! 1
