  1. One of the guys that runs http://www.snowboardseattle.com/ is a friend of PASR. I'm sure if you take a peek and maybe ask around, you could get some great tips!
  2. Mark, Thanks a ton to you and the BC staff for posting this info. I also find the science behind it very cool and don't think a lot of people realize what goes into running the resort. Things like having to deal with the EPA and stuff is something I doubt people ever think about (I know I don't)
  3. Wow, this spring in January crap is getting REALLY old
  4. Judging by the 75cm thing, I assume he means snowblades?
  5. It's never good when someone has to shut down their board because of this crap. I feel bad that CB had to shut down, and I hope they can still reach their customers here. I'm sure even those of us who got kicked off still feel kind of weird that now it's gone...
  6. Yeah, let's not let this get into another bitch-fest. I just wanted to give Brightside some background and some info about the site.
  7. Yeah, their new marketing guy is much better with it than the old ones were. It used to be to the point that anything that was at all critical of CB was immediately removed (I always understood why, because they wanted to use it as a marketing tool, rather than a discussion forum). That's why we came here and started this. Just to be clear, there are no hard feelings between PASR management and CB about the forum stuff any more, we've grown quite a bit past that.
  8. I'll add a little bit to this. First, the name wasn't changed due to a threat, but we simply wanted to grow the site to something constructive rather than just a site bashing on CB. The roots of the board is definitely a reason for a bunch of the negative tone in the CB forum, but so is plain old bad policies over the years. There are plenty of people who used to support CB that have turned. Looking at those numbers is a little decieving right now, because since we've had JFBB and Bear Creek sign on (and subsequently link to us), both of those forums have been far more busy than Blue or CB. So, in all, CB had about an 8 month head start on everyone else, but the site was VERY slow when it started so that's not really a ton. I can get all the real numbers if anyone is really that much of a number junkie (I am). Blue... well... that forum just benefits from most of Doug's whorage.
  9. Please don't take this as me sticking up for CB, because that's really not it, but... I think you're numbers are way off. I don't think you have any idea what it costs to run a ski area, and I think you're just pulling numbers out of the air for your own purposes. It's well stated that CB caters to the once or twice a year folks. I don't think they're in the business of having a skier's mountain as much as they are in providing a place for people to come and drop a bunch of money for a couple hours of time. That ideology basically argues against all 3 of your points above. As much as I'd like it to be different, that seems like the way they approach their business, and that's why I don't go there much any more Just my 2 cents.
  10. I like that BC keeps trying to do SOMETHING to keep people interested during this crappy weather. A lot of mountains are just sitting back and waiting, but BC keeps trying little things to generate interest. Keep it up BC, it's bound to get colder at some point!
  11. Y'all gotta tell us about this crap! With the new version came another set of permissions for downloading. I didn't even notice the new permission until now. By default, I have access to everything, so I don't notice when things don't work for you guys unless you tell me. I try to test as much as possible, but I'm bound to miss something (like this). Anyway, it's fixed, have fun!
  12. You're completely right, but people are just jonesing. They're grasping at anything at this point because they're upset they can't ski. They're not actually upset at management, communists, etc for what's going on, they just have some rage they need to place somewhere, and what better way than venting on the internet. As much as I disagree with all the rants and BS, I understand some people yell instead of crying... That's my 2 cents.
  13. Wow, it looks like Sno is really gonna step the place up. It's a huge swing from when we were talking about them (montage) possibly being closed down... I hope they do well! (I'm sure Ski would rather have a kickass mountain and some extra people, than nothing at all)
  14. Hey John, Welcome to PASR! Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
  15. (Merged topics with Papa's, trying to keep the thoughts together)
  16. Alright folks you've heard the story, and I'd rather this thread not degrade into speculation and mud-slinging so I'm gonna close this one up. If you have stuff you want to talk about still, please start another thread.
  17. I'm gonna go ahead and close this thread, the news has been posted here -corrected the link for you Think
  18. I appreciate the thought, but we're not going to delete news threads because a third party requests it. If the people involved have an issue with something here, I'll be glad to take it down. They know how to get ahold of me. Until then, I let people speak.
  19. Rob, if you're gonna talk, talk. cryptic messages are no good. What's going on?
  20. Yep! We get the same type of stuff coming here, but we have proactive staff that knocks it out before it has a chance to affect anyone. It sucks what's happening, but it's not all that hard to control.
  21. Gonna be there tomorrow?
