  1. Also, its almost impossible to roll a canoe back up if you flip with a 2 bladed paddle, not enough maneuverability in the human torso.
  2. Hopefully will get the boats out and hit the Lehigh River Saturday at White Haven.
  3. Other than a half day at Discovery in Montana a couple of years ago, the last time we were out was during the SLC Olympics. Got a discount at the AirB&B at Tahoe City because a bear broke into the house the week before, ripping the front door off. People are using electric fences and electrified scat mats to keep the bears out of the houses.
  4. Squaw Valley, not closing day. Visited my son in Sacramento, and spent the weekend at Tahoe. Was out Friday at Squaw. Took the tram up and skied Siberia Express (1st picture) and mostly backside Shirley's lake area (2nd picture). Nice bowl skiing. Snow was soft but not slushy. We did mostly groomed blues. People were skiing the KT-22 area. Good time had by all.
  5. Was there all winter, but never got out skiing - too much to do at home to stay there over the weekend. Scored a bunch of goggles for the crew and a new helmet at a 1/3 price closing season sale in Butte though.
  6. Coming home this afternoon, looks like still a lot of snow. Not going out though, time to do yard work.
  7. You guys have a good summer. I got my 2 days in at Blue this weekend in my green disguise, so I don't feel like a lurker on the Blue forum.
  8. Between getting the flu over the holidays and being on a Monday to Friday out of state project this winter, I think I'll wait a couple of years until retirement before I get a local season pass again.
  9. Snuck over to the competition today (though Big Boulder is open, it's a little short in vertical even for me). Hit the snooze button too many times, and didn't get there until 11:30. Probably a good thing. First run down Racers was boilerplate, but by 1 it had softened up nicely. A bunch of runs in the area between Sidewinder and Dreamweaver and called it a day around 2:30. Nice to have the legs burning a little at the bottom of the runs.
  10. No, pretty scratchy. A lot of snow on the trails, though.
  11. Great bluebird conditions. Snow got a little soft as the day went on but never got slushy. Got there at the new opening time of 10 AM, skied East Mountain for an hour or so and then lapped challenge and thunderbolt. Nice fast conditions all morning, no need to scrub speed at the top of Floyds or Lower River Shot. Crowd was very light, with no lift lines. Will try to get out again tomorrow for a season closer.
  12. Crowds and snow conditions keep me away. Maybe when I retire and can ski during the week. On weekends, if I get to Frost when it opens I have East Mountain pretty much to myself for a few runs.
  13. About 5 miles past Saylorsburg, when you pass the Turkey Ridge apartments (I think that is what they are called) on your left, blow your horn, we are up the hill on your right. Stop at the Kunkletown general store - it is an experience.
  14. Nice day, snowing pretty hard first thing, but cleared up around 10. 2 or 3 inches of light powder. Pretty much only hard core people out today. East Mountain crowd pretty light and fast moving. Challenge glade in pretty good shape, but didn't get into the lower section.
  15. Was out Sunday morning, and conditions were a lot better. They must have been grooming during the snowstorm because the slopes had a lot of base, but the areas off the slopes were pretty much wind blown bare. Even with a fairly strong wind blowing up the hills the skiing was pretty good. Still without power and running a generator here in Monroe county - about half the county was without power at some point.
  16. Not going for a season pass next year. Really got skunked this year. With the project I am on now, and having the flu over the holidays, was only put a half dozen times. You might see me at Blue a few times next year.
  17. Out for a couple of hours before the rain started again around 10. Had some sunshine at the start but gradually clouded over. Still had a lot of coverage, but crowds were pretty sparse even with the ski for the cure day. Snow was pretty soft but didn’t get torn up too much by the time I left. Felt almost like a closing day, but they still have hoses hooked up to the snow guns so all we need is some cold weather.
  18. Out for a couple of hours this morning, 34 degrees, soft but nicely groomed snow, flat light. Not too crowded. Challenge glade was mashed potatoie, need some boarders to go down and smooth it out. Apparently Navionics is discontinuing their ski gps app, any recommendations? Ski tracks is nice but doesn't have a map. Snow Trace has a map, but not a replay function.
  19. 5 runs at Jackson Hole maybe, 17 runs at Frost. 7 minutes up East Mountain, 90 seconds down. 8200 vertical, equivalent of 3 runs top to bottom at Whiteface. We take what we can get.
  20. Huge crowd at the ticket booth on the way out.
  21. Great morning at Frost, 24 degrees when I arrived, 44 when I left at 10:30. Hit east mountain right at 8, pretty quiet for an hour or so, with just some red and brown coats. Everything open today. Some nice frozen cord, Floyd's and Rivershot were in great shape, the groomers did a fantastic job with this week's weather, not pristine, but still very good conditions. About 9:30 it started getting busy, so I did a couple runs of Challenge glade (headwalls pretty bumped up, but the lower tree section was very manageable), and lapped Challenge and Tbolt until the crowds and ball bearings built up.
  22. Just sayin' Also Sunday, Feb 11th. Radio station day this Friday.
