  1. Wonder what their "big announcement" is? I already found via Google that the stupid reservations wont be needed next season. Zat all??
  2. I'm generally happy wherever I ski as long as the resorts don't do anything too stupid, such as leave 1/3 of the double lifts empty in a long line during non-pandemic times due to sloppy queue management
  3. Although they are for charging for parking (at peak times), what else has Camelback done to be called "assholes"? I had a grate time there one week ago, and zero complaints 🤷🏻‍♂️
  4. Ok. That dumb conspiracy theory was created by the CIA to discredit legitimate conspiracies.
  5. The "six pack". During that time I was harshly criticized for not getting the vaccine at this time due to unknown long term side effects, and was even called an anti-vaxxer
  6. There were lengthy discussions about this topic on 3 consecutive rides up the Challenge Express this weekend. There may have been more but I decided to check out the Quad instead since it has a nice view.
  7. He's been around for over 13 years. I think he's real. No way a troll could pull it off for that long without getting caught... I want to believe
  8. I guess people feel personally wronged since it could have been them on that lift? The social media pitchforks are out in full force. Like Steeze said, though, people have short memories and itll likely be all but forgotten by first civilian chair in November or December 2021.
  9. Someone on social media is implying blame because there weren't more lift attendants on staff... ???
  10. "If a skier were to ride a chairlift 100 million miles, they would have a 0.17 percent chance of being killed." Internet probability statistic, as many people on Facebook and elsewhere will pledge to never get on another chairlift.
  11. Mostly, except that time my bro banned me arbitrarily, or says that I have to camp at least 0.5 miles away, or yelled at me for being a gaper and putting the bar down on him (but then gave me high five for stoke 2 minutes later), or said STFU on the lift with @GrilledSteezeSandwich when we were talking nonstop during a night skiing sesh. But he did give me a Truly so we're bros now 😎
  12. Pretty close "Camelback Resort is working with the appropriate state authorities to investigate yesterday's incident involving the Sullivan Lift. The health and safety of our guests and associates is and remains our number one priority," the statement said.
  13. Correct. I had free parking on a weeknight, I guess they charge depending on day of week and time 🤷🏻‍♂️
  14. There are cases of large payouts due to ski resort accidents. I found a case of a $25 million payout from a snowtubing incident.
  15. Insurance will probably pay, but the hit on reputation might mean they wont be charging $100+ to ski and $10-$40 to park next season... this story is going to spread like wildfire very soon
  16. Correct but the money might go to constant care of the victims for the rest of their lives in nursing homes (based on unknown severity of issues, though anything spinal typically means great loss of life quality). I wouldn't ever want to exchange being able to function for any amount of money
  17. Not good. This will probably be on the national news in the next few days https://www.google.com/amp/s/unofficialnetworks.com/2021/03/22/children-and-father-seriously-injured-in-chairlift-detachment-at-camelback-mountain/amp/
  18. I thought you said "accidents happen"... if this happened at Blue would you be as critical?? Regardless it behooves us all to spread the word on this for our own safety, though I'll continue to ride detachable lifts anywhere without worrying about it
  19. Camelback certainly isnt going to alert the media. Why would they? This is a PR nightmare as it's extremely uncommon for a chairlift to fall off. I've never heard of it until Steeze posted some examples. The media probably doesnt even know about it unless they heard it on the Monroe Cty EMS like BenM, or if a witness or victim contacted them. Unless the police get involved, then perhaps the media would be made aware?
  20. Chair lift is most likely the safest mode of transportation we all take on a regular basis. "According to statistics compiled by the National Ski Areas Association, a passenger is five times more likely to die riding in an elevator than on a ski lift and eight times more likely to die in a car."
  21. I rode Sullivan Lift several times on Tuesday. It was running but kept stopping for no apparent reason, so I got fed up and moved to Stevenson which didn't stop. I don't know much about chair lifts and maintenance required, but this appears highly irresponsible. WTF?
  22. That's what I did... chain hotels in Heber City/Midvale/Ogden with nice rooms and reasonable prices. Park City has lodging options nearby, but I don't think Brighton/Solitude or Snowbasin really have much of anything around them.
  23. Correct, I think we skied Razor's at the start?
