  1. Naw. My record is 62 runs in one day @ CB, and I was still disappointed at closing time that I couldn't get to 63.
  2. Does anyone know if all 39 tubing lanes will be open Friday?
  3. I need to go hardcore. I've pulled several open to closes at Camelback on Saturdays last season.
  4. I get out at 4:30 actually , so that gives me 4h 5min at Blue, with a total driving time of 2h 50 min. Not too bad of a trade off I guess.
  5. That's pretty crazy. I've always just hit up Spring Mountain because it's only 41 minutes; Bear Creek is 64 minutes, and Blue is 85 minutes. However, I would actually have 16 more minutes to ski at Blue than Spring Mountain, and the runs are probably a couple seconds longer. So I'll have to reconsider Blue as an option those 5 weeks. It's just rough getting back to the hotel around midnight after a long, rigorous day of work.
  6. Savagery Not hatin on the big Spring Mt. Im glad its there but its a little sad that I'll be skiing there for 5 weekdays while working in suburban Philly. BC is too far to drive.
  7. Forget BC. Spring Mountain is where the gnar is at. Two mountains chock full of trails, and you can even cross over to another mountain without needing a lift. The main slope might look like one big trail, but rest assured, there are 3 trails there. The piste map says so.
  8. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe I'll wait for Blue to open and skip out on BB. Waiting 10-15 minutes per 30 second run is no fun. Weather is looking good starting tonight for all mountains to begin/restart snowmaking operations. The lows for 11/26-11/28 are looking quite gnarly - upper teens/low 20's!
  9. Maybe I'm just being too picky about conditions... nothing compares to those pristine mornings of untracked, freshly made snow. Can't complain about mid-November snowmaking, regardless. I'm just impatient for the actual season to start.
  10. Wunderground, which I think uses the same data as The Weather Channel. http://www.intellicast.com/Local/Weather.aspx?location=USPA0698 That high of 49 on Tuesday is kind of a downer, but the lows all week starting this Sunday look pretty nice for some evening snowmaking. So I'll stay cautiously optimistic for some more openings within the next 2 weeks. I just hate skiing in mashed potatoes, so even if some places open I probably won't go unless the high temperatures are below 45 degrees. I was thinking about BB this Sunday, but I think it will be a slushy mess after all the rain tomorrow.
  11. Nope. I'm a 29 year old dude from Hazleton. "Salty Ant" is a username I made up in the very early 2000's for online forum trolling. The name actually originated from playing the online game Microsoft Ants while eating salty french fries, hence the name Salty Ant. I decided to resurrect the name 17 years later. I have absolutely no relation to Sally.
  12. Looks like last weekend was just a tease. Temperatures are still going to be in the mid to upper 40s for the next two weeks. At least the newly released one-month projection map doesn't look too bad.
  13. Who's ready to do some mad runs on Limited?
  14. Haha, that was me. I mean come on, even Montage is blowing??? After their abysmal season last year I'm pretty impressed, maybe there's hope for Montage yet.
  15. I love going to Camelback for FirstTrax at 7:30 am. Last year, every trail was open and perfectly groomed, and they blew large piles of snow whenever they could. Yeah, it sucks big time once 10-11 am hits and there's 100+ people/gapers in line at the Stevenson lift, but they usually run a few slow lifts, like Bailey, which don't have any lines. I take a lunch break at 2-3 pm, and from 6-9 pm the crowds disappear and open up the whole mountain to fantastic night skiing. I always found Camelback's terrain to be pretty fun and diverse, especially their blue runs. The 5 diamonds are kind of similar in that they're steep at the top and then level out, but Cliffhanger is still a blast.
  16. Hazleton. CB, Blue & Montage are the same distance from me. Jack Frost is a little closer, but I love night skiing and BB is way too small. Why do people like Blue so much better? Is it mostly because of the terrain? I know CB gives off that family friendly, once-a-year skiier, millennial type of culture, which is kind of irritating. Maybe that's part of the reason, but I assume the crowds at both Blue & CB are about the same due to their proximity to major cities.
  17. Will do. I see Blue is blowing like crazy. Makes me a little sad - maybe I'll go Blue for 2018-2019. Polar Vortex inbound? https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/polar-vortex-may-unleash-bitterly-cold-air-snow-for-northeastern-us-prior-to-thanksgiving/70003223
  18. Thanks Steeze. I've been lurking on here for quite a while now, and decided to finally make an account. I've only been to Blue once, last Valentine's Day, and thought the single rider queue on the six-pack was a clusterfuck. Most people don't factor that into where they buy a pass, but my goal is to make as many runs as I can - personal record is 62 in a day at CB. Plus that RFID chip card is a pain after a while, and I can't lazily cruise on the interstate from Hazleton to get to Blue. Not if you know where to go. There's a perfect parking spot near the Stevenson lift that's always empty in the morning... I probably shouldn't tell everyone that
  19. Hell yes. My newly minted SuperPass gives me unlimited access to the tubing hill Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. I'm getting totally stoked right now.
  20. Not sure why people hate on CB all the time here. Sure, it's a crowded hell hole filled with Jersey gapers on weekend afternoons. But go early morning or late afternoon, it's fantastic. Both high speed lifts get you up 800 feet in 3.5 minutes, and you have lots of trails to choose from with variety. They had all 37 trails open nearly the entire winter last year, something that could not be said for Montage. Is it an Elk Mountain? No. Elk is the best for terrain, scenery and snow quality hands down in NEPA. But the lifts are slow, and it's expense as hell. So CB it is for me this year.
