I've been fighting a respiratory virus for a while so planning to get to bed early for the long drive so I thought I would be a good idea to pound some vitamins and take a couple puffs on the inhaler that the doctor gave me , what could go wrong ? Well apparently I discovered a new type of stimulant that kept me buzzed for 24hrs but not in a good way . I gave up trying to sleep at 3 am and left . The drive was easy peezy with no traffic , last 1/2h was snowing a bit and places the roads had an inch or so . Got to Platty at 7am second car . It was blowing like crazy and 23f. Ticket kiosk and sat in the lower level waiting for a line to start at the double . I ended up 3rd chair . On the ride up I was amazed at the size of the snow drifts 3-4' in some places and like a ridge across the slopes. First run was under the double to hoots and hollers everywhere. 30" of untracked snow . It was not as I thought it would be ,light on top and very heavy below . Stopping was to be avoided if possible as you would sink down and expend a lot of energy to get going . Plattekill is a steep place and usually doesn't present a problem getting started again , todays snow was an anomy . I've storm chased a bunch of storms and this one was very different . I lasted till lunch and after getting a bit sloppy with some turns called it a day . I wish I could have stayed all day the woods were awesome after the trails got cut up.

Plattekill is further by more than an hour for me but I know from history that when all the other Catskills were out of power they were up. But bring cash ! I have a friend that is planning on Elk for Wednesday not sure about Elk and wind? I’m sure some folks can comment. I still have a passes yet and hopefully will get to use them.

Highmont is now 2-3’ I’m planning on Plattekill if they open Wednesday. Roxbury's not too far away but they’re forecast is for 9-18”

Late session after bouncing back from a nasty respiratory virus. Fast mashed multicolor potatoes . Sasquatch was nice with some slushy bumps. The whole mountain skied pretty well. Things are quite variable with mud to 3’ base . I hope that they can get to the weekend. I’m not sure if this was my last day or not but I’m going to miss the F lift dance party music. Maybe next year they can add strobes and a mirror ball.

I would have had a better memory of the place except I had two gay guys ask me to share a room. I declined sternly.

Yes , Salty is worth his Salt. -
I like it very much! Very comfy and kudos for getting it open this season. This song came to mind watching all the snowboarders walling from Burma . They’ll probably address this over the summer

Definitely a great day! Thanks for the pass Salty first few runs were a bit drizzly. Had some warp speed runs early with the PASR gang. Sun popped out for a short time in the afternoon. After a beer in the parking lot I headed back to ski bump’s which were awesome. Skied with the bump crew for a while. All the young bucks bailed leaving the geriatric crew . Myself Paul and Marvin quit around 2:30 after my legs had enough. Beers in the lot with Paul and mbMike . Pauls brother got married in VT and there were some leftover beers . Left 3:30 ish

You just teed one up for Salty🧐 Bear creek had some snow coming down around 3:30 . I threw my stuff in to take some runs but bailed. I picked up my son around 7:15 I was surprised at the amount of people skiing in the rain.
