Tossing around the idea of buying a season pass in Colorado this winter. The prices are insanely cheap for what you get compared to Pa. Seems like after 7 visits the pass pays for itself. We will probably spend Christmas week out there and get a decent number of days in, plus a few more trips over the winter (if I get my way). Plus, I can sign my younger son up for the 5th grade passport and get him freebies to all the resorts. So those who know about Colorado (and there are a lot of you here) help me out. Since we will be driving from Boulder doing day trips I also need to take traffic into account. Pretty much all the resorts are about 2 hours away according to Mapquest. Winter Park is off of I-70 so maybe the traffic is better? But Keystone, Breckenridge and A basin have that Colorado pass that you can go to all of them (plus Vail and Beaver Creek). Definitely don't need insane terrain. The boys pretty much smoke me to the bottom every single time, so a place where I can't lose them easily. I may end up only getting a pass for me and using the 5th grade deal too. My oldest is of the mind set right now that he "hates Colorado, its so stupid" and he doesn't want to visit until I "make" him move there. I should bring him for the first 5 minutes of pasr bar night so you can all slap him and tell him what a moron he is.

If anyone has a men's small or medium jacket they want to sell let me know. David got 2 years out of his and I don't think I can squeeze him into it again.

So glad you posted this. We needed some good pictures to look at.

Looks like a good time. Glad you are enjoying California and taking advantage of all it has to offer. I'm jealous, I can't wait to move.

As always thanks for the update, Heather.

Listening to my 9 year old tell my 11 year old what a whimp he is for not trying the elevator. And watching them both progess throughout the season. Riding powder for the first time in Colorado (even if it was Eldora)

If you mean the one with a million curves with a max speed of 20mph, then yeah that's the one.

Decided to leave my very used 10 year old board at home and buy a new one out here. Got a sweet K2 airdu. Got the whole set up for 40 percent off due to end of the season sales which was great. On to the snow...arrived to cloudy snowing skies. They got 6 inches the night before. We slept in and didn't get up there until about 10am. There are 3 sections to the mountain: challenge, indian peaks, and corona bowl. Indian peaks was closed and corona bowl was too challenging for me, I admit so we stuck to challenge. Most of the blues we went down were the equivalent of the last headwall on rivershot at frost, so plenty fun for our ability level. We quickly shed layers after the first run because the sun came out and it was beautiful!! We rode for about 3 hours and did the equivalent of the number of runs on an average day at frost. Conditions were great. I have never rode out west and loved it. I'm sure to the locals Eldora is a small little mtn compared to the other resorts. It is great for us since we are used to much smaller. About 40 minutes door to door. Our new neighbors have a place at winter park and have already extended an open invitation. Looking forward to that next season. I really don't want to fly home Saturday. Tomorrow we're heading to rocky mtn national park. Should be another fun day

Hmm...I didn't get one this year...for any of us.

Sorry, Dom didn't see this until now. Snow was decent on those two trails. Hope you made it out and had fun.

We didn't last long but I'd say there were no more than 15 people other than staff at JF today. One of my guys taking the freebies cancelled and I waited until 830 freebie in hand for the other one but didn't see him. Lots of brown showing. Glades are rough, as are bumps at bottom of exhibition. East mt was sooo windy I went back to the other side. Went down challenge to find out the quad was not running. Hiked back over to the triple. Got the opportunity to do some runs down snowflake with Stephen so he could show me his skills at going backwards and down on one ski. That was fun to watch. Did Janes Lane and Lehigh for the first time this season just to mix it up a bit. Mostly stayed on exhibition and one park. Left at 11, just getting too windy. The rain didn't seem that bad but soaked through my pants so it was time to go. Probably my last day at JF for season. We had a great season there and the race program was well worth the money. Coaches are so nice and work well with the kids.

How did everybody do on the snow? Is Holly ready to make it a family sport?

Those pics are awesome!

3 down, 1 to go.

ok just to clarify, you have to be there this Saturday to get the ticket. It's not something I can mail to you to use in the future. JFBB freebies work like this: they scan my pass, give me the freebie that's dated THAT DAY. So if you can make it to JF this Saturday, let me know.
-
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Oh well it was a good deal while it lasted and 2 free passes is still better than nothing. Anyway 1 freebie gone, 3 left.
-
I don't think they transfer. Plus we get 12 freebies every year (3 season passes bought early x 4 freebies per pass). We always have plenty so I don't mind sharing the love.
-
So I have 4 freebies left on our season passes. If anyone interested we will be up at Frost about 8 on Sat (March 13th). First 4 people to respond or PM takes them. Oh and they are to use, not to sell. Don't be a dick.

Love the pictures, Jeff.

They do take race kids down elevator. My son's group went down several times today, awesome!

Thanks for the report I was wondering what was happening with the bumps

Beautiful day here at frost! Snowing pretty hard this morning but now the sun is shining and hardly any wind. After a few warm up runs down exhibition I went over to T-bolt. Top section had no bumps so as I am going full speed over the first headwall, I am surprised by bumps. AlMost took a header. I went down thunderbolt a bunch of times but I can't gewt the hand of the bumps. Guess they are not for me. My son who is in the race program comes in for lunch and proudly tells me they did the elevator and "it was awesome". Even his older brother was impressed since he has yet to try it. He said they are going on. Risk It in the pm session. And he won a bronze in the race last week but we bailed before they announced the winners. His coach gave him the medal and he's wearing it under his jacket "for luck" in his race today. He is one happy kid today. JADIP!

Wow, didn't see those two jump off the lift. You guys have balls. Fun day meeting some more pasr's. Not sure what happened to Heather (JFskimom). I thought she was right behind me, sorry Heather. I have to learn how to ride better in ungroomed snow. Definitely off my game today. Awesome that JFBB put a banner up! I went in the bar around 2pm but didn't see anyone. Oh well, would have been the only girl there anyway.
