True true. Like fluffy got at,it's easy to spend money when it's not your own. It will be interesting to see how the addition of a HSQ affects Shawnee's business, as it is a similar size and layout to JF. I think if anything, it will take away more customers from CBK than anywhere else. I'd say see how they do after five years or so. I'm certainly taking a trip out there next season to check it all out. I do know Blue and CBK definitely got busier over the years after they added their respective high-speed lifts.

But how many times will that fixed grip chair stop in a hour at that rate?There is also the psychological factor for getting up the mountain in three minutes for skiers also. I have put some thought too into adding a HSQ at Jack Frost.IMHO,the best way to do it would be to add a artificial mountain for the top terminal,somewhere around where the upper parking lot next to the slopes/ski school is located.Just like how they built the artificial tubing hill at Eagle Rock.This would allow you to access the terrain that A,B-C,and D lifts service.So midweek week you would could just run E/F,HSQ,and East Mountain lifts.Then on the weekend,just add lifts as needed. If you also totally remove B and C lifts,these could be relocated over to service and expand the beginner area,which JF desperately needs IMO.

Philly's own Schoolly D was the first "Gangsta Rapper" that I remember.His album Smoke Some Kill was classic.I probally burned out 5 cassette tapes of that back in the day.Not long after Ice T blew up.He built on alot of what Schoolly D laid down.I still listen to Schoolly,Ice T,and PE quite often.TT C6 your right though,the rap music now just doesn't compare imho.

Thats one thing nice about JFBB.Even on a seemingly crowded day,there is hardly ever too bad of a lift line.That is the advantage of using a bunch of fixed-grip lifts versus two or so HSQ's.With HSQ's,most of the skiers/riders are out on the slopes and are also waiting in line.Where with the slower lifts most skiers/riders are stored on a chair leading to uncrowed runs and smaller liftlines.While I know it's nice to get a lot of runs/vert in and not freeze up on a chair,most JFBB customers go there for the relaxed pace,scenery plus the out in the wilderness feel of the area.

Majestic,the trail under the double double,is probally imho the best trail to make beautiful laid-out turns on a snowboard in all of NEPA.Too bad it doesn't keep it's pitch all the way from the top half of the mountain though.Since Eagle Rock got in trouble a few years back because of taking too much water from the quarry on top of the mountain,the snowmaking just hasn't been the same ever since.Even though ER was breaking the law slightly,it made for good conditions.

Working as a lifty for a number of years,I almost came to blows with a few customers over time after they accuse you of throwing sand or rocks onto the top unloading ramp.Some people get pretty hot after being whacked in the head by a lift chair.They just flat-out refuse to believe that the snow being blown under the lift would have any effect on their unloading ability,lol.

Using tarps to protect snow and glaciers is pretty common in Europe these days, http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,2144,1266299,00.html .Say what you want about global warming,either natural or man-made,we are definitely in or possibly near the end of a warmer cycle.For sure cutting down all the forests/rain forests and polluting as much as we do is not good for nature or man either way. I would envision a system where your white/reflective tarp would be stored on a roll,just like you see carpet for sale at Lowes on those big rolls.You could then use a snow cat to pull the tarp up,down or across the slopes.Another idea that would need some thought would be using something like Snow Gel on a grand scale, http://www.backyardterrainpark.com/3b-snow...ming-green.html ,along with carpet.Or just using Neveplast (dry) on all your slopes. The ultimate form of snow protection would be something like the hard chocolate coating on a ice cream sundae.Something that you could spray on with a snow gun or spread around with a cat that would be water activated and form a hard layer of protection for your snow cover/base.Obviously this has yet to be invented,but maybe sometime in the future?

I'll take a educated guess at what will happen to JFBB.For the umpteenth time,JFBB is currently leased for 25 years by Peak Resorts,with a stipulation to invest 5 million dollars by 5 years into it,which has already been completed.Now,at the fifth year of the lease,there is a escape clause built into it if certain requirements are met.I would say with the purchase of Mt. Snow and Attitash by Peak,Peak will escape the JFBB lease at the end of the fifth year,so that would mean 3 more full seasons after this current one of Peak operating JFBB.Upon initial observation,JFBB is very similar in layout/amenities to Mt. Snow and Attitash,but on a smaller scale.Therefore,I would assume Peak is using JFBB as a sort of training ground/dry run(my military mind at work here) to get the JFBB management team trained and up to speed to run Mt. Snow/Attitash by the time the fifth year of the JFBB lease is up.Afterwards,JFBB would revert back to Blue Ridge management.Keep in mind most of the Peak management team at JFBB is very young and inexperienced,and some are also family members of the owners of Peak.So this would all seem to make tons of sense,well to me anyway.It most definitely fits their philosophy of cross-training and assimilation of knowledge.This would also explain why they don't seem to care much about the circumstances of things at JFBB.In summary,I wouldn't expect nothing too grand at JFBB in the next three seasons and most of the capital dollars spent on upgrading Mt. Snow/Attitash,phewwwwwww!!!

Oh,I forgot to add,on our way out it looked like they were getting ready to blow some fresh moondust all over the place for Monday.Why?I don't know as the snow was excellent all over,but I guess make hay while the sun is shining,lolz.

Ya,the past two day's at Sno were jamming!!!Never saw so many people there either.The snow was the best I ever saw it too.I even saw quite a few ex-JFBB passholder's around and chatted with some for a bit,most of them swore off of the Big Two for good,no wonder why.Wait until Sno get's completely organized in the next few seasons!Speaking of Eagle Rock,BDK did you make it there this weekend?

Like I stated prior somewhere,usually you stop making snow after the beginning of February off-peak to peak electricity switch if your mountain is fully blown out.But this year,I'm sure most mountains have leftover budgeted snowmaking time and $$$ to play with.Also,with JFBB making off-peak snow until the end of the season that raises the bar up for everybody.Another thing,Sno Mountain has changed the game now too,they caught almost everyone by suprise this year.In the next few year's I'm betting they will get quite a few convert's from other mountains.

What was so cool about that park back in 01'-02' was that by having it twist and turn,it vastly lenghtened the trail.I alway's envisioned a over-under type of park for BB trail.Where you either used channel gap's,tunnel's or overpasses to create two different line's.Use the straight line for the jump line,then use the curvy line as a semi-bordercross line and rail line.And the triple-threat sound's good for the last jump(if you make it a 30' water-gap again!!!...JK .
