  1. That is the funniest thing i've heard in quite a while around here. Compared to Freedom? a slight rise in elevation. The upside to them blowing on Tannenbaum is hopefully they open with both. Opening with Freedom = shitshow with features, 1 incredibly slow lift. Opening with Freedom and Tannebaum = 2 lifts, 1/2 the shitshow.
  2. Having Christmas Tree open as well as Tilted Tabletop, would definitely persuade me to go, more so than just Freedom.
  3. Just found this on the book of faces. The interesting part of this picture is, and i could be mistaken, but thats not Tilted Tabletop. I think that might be tannenbaum. Tannenbaum means Christmas Tree in German.
  4. If Boulder opens on Friday, it probably wont be crowded. At all....... I get it, im pretty much going crazy without skiing, but the lure of driving any significant distance to ski on marginal terrain doesnt appeal to me right now. That being said, driving a short distance (to BB) and skiing what has been called a "titlted tabletop", doesnt do it for me either. Whiteface is planning a Friday opening.
  5. My "inside source" sent this to me.
  6. Let me check with my "inside source" and get back to you.
  7. Same year skiing opened up the week before Thanksforskiing? That would make sense.
  8. When is the last time it snowed in December in the poconos/lehigh valley?
  9. You can probably find many different numbers as far as how many.....this one says 48. http://www.nsaa.org/media/275041/1516_Areas_per_state.pdf Its getting close. Again, i will go with this for November 26th at Boulder....
  10. Its not snowing here. Its not cold. Maybe some really heavy flurries in NEPA on Sunday/Monday.
  11. Michigan has 43 ski resorts. All probably pretty bad ass, just like PA. NY has 52.
  12. Michigan has the nation's second most ski resorts, second only to New York. Fun fact of the day. Maybe one of those resorts will be open the 26th.
  13. Seems like after Saturday, temps become more seasonal. a step in the right direction, but pretty borderline "to get in business".
  14. Plus if you get there really early you get to park next to Jeff's car.
  15. it would be even easier on a motorcycle
  16. Just get your passes from the local ski shop. https://www.skinsee.com/ http://www.ajmotionsports.com/ Its my understanding all the ski shops have the same prices, so just pick one near you. and they are not vouchers, but actual lift tickets, so no waiting in lines at the resort. Liftopia has changed a little for the better, but i still hate it. i hate being locked in to a certain mountain for a certain day. Plus you will probably have to go to a certain window that you will not be able to find easily, with the voucher, (as long as you travel with a printer) or your phone, which at that window doesnt get a signal, so you have to try to connect to the mountains wifi, which is sketchy at best, and then produce your drivers license, and maybe even a birth certificate, while wasting what is most likely the best ski time of the day. Then once you have lugged your shit all over the place, dropping your poles four times, and loosing a glove along the way, in order to find the secret window, congratulations, you have saved $10.
  17. It would help if people would quit moving away........just sayin'.
  18. Like Feb 19th (???) 2014? That day was just like skiing in Vermont, without the drive.
