Our New Name....Montage Mountain Resorts...New owners.
JFskiDan replied to KCSKI's topic in Montage Mountain
Good news. Hope everything goes well. -
Why the bash on KC? you know he wasnt an owner, right? He didnt fuck the place up. As far as i could tell, he was helping to hold the place together. I give KC props for sticking around pasr, and actually Sno for that matter.....i mean, every other mountain rep has been chased off of here. KC was out on the mountain taking pictures, talking to people...etc....very visible representative from the mountain. Just so you know, you wont find a guy walking around JFBB that looks anything like the picture in fluffys posts.

Really fun day yesterday, good times. Kudos to Peak for keeping Frost open this late in the year.
-
This is actually somewhat similar to how they normally close Frost, never a real definite date, just a "we will see how things hold up". you leave for the weekend thinking they will be open the following weeknd, and then midweek decide they have had enough, but, they keep boulder open. yippee. I know excactly how you feel. This year they really extended the season at frost, so i give them kudos there. Maybe it makes up for grooming out every inch of fresh powder....maybe. i was kind of wondering how long they would stay open past the 6th, which was suppossed to be the closing date for the sale. Since the bank owns the property now at at about half of what they are owed on it, i can see how they wouldnt care about Joe Passholder, or making a couple of bucks.....to them its like pisssing into the wind. And i am pretty sure they have no interest in running the place, alot more interest in selling the place.

Sunday was good for sure, that little bit of snow we got saturday made the slopes nice. Like you said, not much left to challenge glade.
-
" We were supposed to get up to 2 feet of snow but only got 10" over 2 days." wow, i am sooooooo sorry to hear that Barb. i think we have something like 20" for the season.

Vinny, compare prices you find online with what the shops are putting out now. i have purchased skis online, but have always bought bindings from the ski shop. Most ski shops will charge about $75 to mount bindings to skis if you havent purchased either from them. most ski shops will charge $25 to mount bindings purchased from them, on skis you walk in with. I never felt the pricing online for bindings would over come the difference in the charge to mount.

wow, thats a late season for frost. i'm ok with it though.

I heard a rumer that camelback bought or is buying sno
JFskiDan replied to tom nepa's topic in Montage Mountain
^^ i get that the bank would have kept bidding it up. They outbid the partnership by 100K. My point is, i still think there will be future negotiations on the property. I think the bank would prefer to have a stack of green, rather than the property. -

http://m.citizensvoice.com/news/berks-county-bank-high-bidder-for-sno-mountain-1.1451897 There was a bid just below what the bank bid. So, there could be some neegotiations there. Maybe the bank has already negotiated a deal of its own, most likely someone is going to need some credit, and who better to lend it out. I think interest from a loan of that size is a pretty big chunk of change. I dont think this is the end of sno mountain. At least i hope not. -
Solitude is fun. not many pics today, but these were in headwall forest.

Ski NY 3 Pass - Whiteface, Gore, and Belleayre
JFskiDan replied to Ride Delaware ?'s topic in Other Mountains
Sounds like a good deal, but lots of $'s in gas. -
Its a tunnel that goes through the mountain. If you dont buy a lift ticket with the tram scam included, thats the way you get to mineral basin.
-
Actually, the slopes will be empty this friday.....but you the parking is another isuue, as well as leaving. last time i was there for the cardboard classic cars were pretty much parked on the side of the road almost out to 940. its a zoo.

Picture time: visibility from the Tram at 9:00 Gad Valley - the weekend snow really made today just that much better. White room This is definetly not how we do things in PA
-
No visibility up top. Yet......trees r sweet and storm seems to be overproducing for us. Some nice pics on the camera so yer gonna have to wait. Loading up on lots of healthy snowbird food. Getting ready for round 2. No reason to stop at 1 oclock.

The sale or auction (whatever you want to call it) is scheduled for the 28th. I would say thats where that came from. I think a desicion is to be made on march 6th, with a hopefull closing the end of march. I hope they are able to hang in till late March, but if there is a definite sale on the 6th, is there any type of financial benefit to staying open past then?

Where are you skiing this weekend? (February 23-24)
JFskiDan replied to vinnyv11's topic in General Chat
Snow is really nice today. Weather....not so much. -

JFskiDan replied to tom nepa's topic in Montage Mountain
i dont think the second would happen since it is a running and functioning business, just needs the proper people (or person) at the helm. Maybe some of the lifts need some attention, but from what i saw their snowmaking is definetly up to date, same goes for their grooming equip. Way more fan guns on that mountain than at JF. Glad to hear the interest in the place is coming from people within the industry. -
Damn...Germany. Way to make my weekend look awesome. lol.
-
Definetly a Whiteface groupie myself....i vividly remember skiing in and out of the trees skiers right on Wilmington......which look nice. Whats it looking like in the trees? i would love for winter to hold on into March......this tr makes me want to go back....bad.

Slopes were really nice early on. Crowds were normal for Pres weekend. When the wind really started to pick up around 11:30, it took the nice loose powder and blew it into the next county. Challange glade got blown off pretty good, very icy in spots. Left at 1 pm when i just couldnt take the wind any longer. Plus i was hungry.
