What did you say?
i asked them if the lifts were going to work tomorrow, or if there was going to be a repeat of 1-7-2024.

i wonder if they'll use the chair corral / storage / garage tonight.
even tho i really think it's just there for show.
@JFskiDan did you delete your facebook comment or did they do it for you?
No. they took that down. In record time i may add. But dont worry, they are excited to have Oz there for first chair Wednesday.

I'm not expecting powder. Just soft conditions.
I'm imaging a dense snow that holds up, but maybe that's a pipe dream, and everything is skied out and scraped off in a few hours.
See pics of last night from @Boo Bear
Tomorrow night will be
(bumps the size of Volkswagons, in case you havent heard the phrase.)

there is agreement that there was a shift south, but i have a feeling they are getting out the JFBB ruler as we speak.

How's the storm looking for mighty Blue?
Tuesday powder night?
If you are going to Blue Tuesday night expecting powder, you will be severely dissapointed.

looks like things have shifted a bit south this morning. Might make for an interesting morning tomorrow at Blue. Maybe.

Euro
GFS
Good news right now is that they are kinda both on the same page. Like, at least one isnt totally off the coast or whatever.

right now both accuweather and Wunderground like JFBB for decent amounts. not so much Palmerton or scranton.
Should be interesting to follow along.

This data is from the top of WL, at boomer, to the bottom. None the less, bad info, bad intel, poor math converting from metric to standard, or Canadian, whatever, its a fun run. you had best be able to put the brakes on quick at the bottom.

We were just talking this weekend at Blue about how they won't let ticket holders travel uphill during the day or an hour before opening, but let race parents walk in sneakers up trails and across Paradise without a lift ticket. Would love to start the day with some uphill.
This should be our next topic for the next round of surveys that come out.
Seems like the trash thing is much better, and i do think the snowmobile thing is better. not great, but better.

Can't make it Friday morning unfortunately. Unless Shawnee turned into Keystone with fresh pow as pictured, then I'm in.
Having trouble locating hi-vis hats for this friday at this point. Lets try for next friday.

This is creating an issue where the state run ski areas are competing against private businesses. The owners of plattekill are not too happy about that, and rightly so, as people have to drive past belleayre with their shiny new lifts to get to a smaller ski areas whose investments are directly related to how many skier visits they get rather than how much tax revenue the state brings in.
Valid points, but really if you look at Magic, they are pretty much in the same boat as Platty. i mean, they are buying up other resorts scrap lifts to make a go at things, and Vail pretty much has the deep pockets that ORDA does. But they market their mountain to their audience. Be different. skiing doesnt need more of the same stuff.

Pretty - but they better price competitively as Montage already has at least a dozen hotels within a 5 minute drive
Im willing to bet they can get double what any hotel nearby costs, as long as they have some decent ammenities, and is really slopeside.
There will be the 5 percenters, like yourself, that would clearly be bothered with driving back and forth to a hotel off property to save $80. If you look around on any of those Frontier flights you take, those are the same people.

The biggest problem with Denton Hill is it's in the middle of nowhere with a low population density.
Bingo.

i think the state hates the fact they own Denton Hill, and are just super happy they have found someone to "try" to run it, however, i just feel like this isnt going to go well, but thats just my gut. Unless you are Vail, or Alterra with deep pockets and multi mountian passes, buying/running a ski resort in our area, with limited season and huge operating costs with snowmaking, is a loser.
I think they will throw money at Denton with the best intentions, then throw more money after it to improve ROI, and then it will be scraped again. (fyi, im not against the state throwing money at anything ski related)

I think post rain depends when they groom. I have done the day after they closed, but they groomed after close the day before, and it was so bad i will hesitate doing that again.

yeah, me too. I need something wider for my fucking fat foot.
I am blessed with 2 of the most mishapen feet as well. one foot is a good size bigger, and the smaller foot is wider than the other. This Dalbello Pantera boot that im in has been the best set of boots for me ever. you can adjust the last on the boot with the toe buckle. might be on some other styles, but the toe buckle is backwards from the others. your results may vary.

3rd civilian chair on the quad surrounded by snowboarders and dudes on race skis.
3rd at the headwall of racers until the 2 skiers in front of me ate shit. If you want to know what mini root keeps in his backpack, today the answer is, snow.
very fun, but its some heavy ass shit, but im so glad i didnt go to work today. Switch is open, no grooming underneath, and thats not really my thing, but maybe later.
on a beer break. Its chunder now, so that should be fun. Im hoping the headwall on coming soon has the volkswagons parked on it. Heading there now.
i would say there was a foot of snow. Good base building snow so this will help lots.
