  1. Wow, that looks awesome. And so cool of Liberty U to build that and make it free to their students. The Lodge looks awesome too... too bad it'll never have a bar or dancing! Maybe then GSS would go.

    Tough Mudder

Oh, about a month ago maybe, I went hiking (I know--me hike??)in some state park (no clue on the name or honestly where it was located), and totally saw a bunch of guys preparing for this. They were running around on the trails carrying logs. We asked them what they were training for, and they said the Mudder at Bear Creek. Pretty cool, I guess?
  3. I have 2 tickets to Camelback and 2 tickets to Jack Frost. I purchased intending to use them this winter, but due to unforeseen circumstances I cannot. I purchased each ticket for $25. They can be used anytime. Please let me know if you are interested.
  4. Watch out for hot tub time machines! Have fun!
  5. I checked with the Magic Eight ball--only time will tell.
  6. Sno generally blows snow every night that they can. I missed end of season last year, but the year before it was packed powder til the end.
  7. nbcolympics.com In theory, it shows the tv schedules. However, it will be like, from 2-5, it's mens DH, women's xc, and curling trials. So, you don't really know when an event will be on. Not helpful. Esp. when they show lame events.
  8. Jeans, Camos, and Carharts should be the name of a country album!!!
  9. Well well well, I just got back from skiing at Sno! Got released from work early, was doing work at home all afternoon. When I saw that they were doing a good job with the roads, I decided to head up. Roads weren't too bad--I had no trouble. I knew that the conditions were going to be tracked out powder, but since I suck at skiing on anything other than packed powder (ask Doug, Dime, and Johnny Style who had to be extra patient with me at Stowe), I thought it would be good experience. As expected, a bunch of trails were tracked out. There was plenty of fresh snow to be had on the sides, trees, and on Upper Runaway and Upper Fastrack. It was windy on the upper mountain, but honestly, it kept the snow blowing which did cover tracks in some parts. Lower half of the mountain was really tracked out and some parts quite bumpy, e.g., Boomer. The powder was super fine and light (well, from my limited experience), which was helpful because then I could just ski through it without worrying about falling. I ate it once on Spur (whichever the nastar run is). Hit a pile and fell. Whoops, right by the lift too! Since this was an educational experience, I made myself do Boomer even though the conditions were bumpy. I did fine, I just have trouble navigating around the bumps (piles, whatever you want to call the faux moguls) AND not gaining speed. All in all, lots of fun and enjoyed talking to some new people on the lifts. Okay, I guess I need to get back to work now.
  10. Blue puts the superfun in superfunD. I really like the view of the valley at night from Sno. Now if I only had time to get there! The lights could be better, but they don't bother me.
  11. I have to say, Doug, Kerri Strug pulled off the second vault despite an ankle injury. I thought you were harder core than she.
  12. Did you take anything for it? If it were me, I probably would have wrapped it in ice, elevate it, and taken a ton of advil.
  13. OMG, best idea ever. I'm going to a sign/decal store and have the LV emblem made into a print and then turned into a full length stick on decal.
  14. I like the idea of kevlar pants. I love the idea of luxury ski gear (just like I love the idea of luxury clothes but would not buy them). What always amuses me is that places like NM sell high end ski clothes/gear, but their product descriptions are devoid of performance or technical information. Like, if I am spending 2k + on a designer ski jacket, I would still like to know its waterproof and breathability ratings.
  15. Point of Clarification: All chaps are assless.
  16. I can't find them on the website. Were they in the winter/holiday catalogue?
  17. Wed. is listed as college night on the events calendar. Further, they have fliers about it posted when I was there on Monday. So, call if you are interested to confirm details since they can't be confirmed online.
  18. I saw that Wednesdays are college nights - lift for $15. You'll have to call to find out if that is good all day or just at night or what.
  19. Ah, I see what you mean. I always confuse the "s" trails up top, and had to look up which was the NASTAR run. Somehow, I looked at the trail map and came up with Spur. As to Cannonball, I forgot that they downgraded it. I think the entire lower half of the mountain should be blacks (black whatever). Lower Runaway and Lower Fast Track and Cannonball all get junked up with people who clearly should not be skiing on those trails. They all pile up at the top of the headwalls and then proceed to scrap off the snow, esp. under the lift on Lower Runaway and Fast Track.
  20. I don't know if I know the difference between Spike and Switch. Regarding trees. I noticed quite a few more evergreens around. I also noticed lots of baby evergreen trees under the Phoebe lift. These trees look to be 3-4 feet high, maybe higher. It would be cool if they could replant them around the mountain, esp. the upper mountain.
  21. Hey all, Just got back from my FIRST TIME ON THE SNOW this year. Last time out I was at Stowe over Easter weekend last spring. Anyways, I was super nervous that I might forget how to ski. Thankfully, I did not. Started off going up the Shuttle Lift and did Highball to warm up. Snow was good on Highball for the most part, except for one part that was a bit chunky. Now, I should point out that the snow/grooming at Sno is always excellent, so when I say that one part is a little chunky, I mean a really little area that I happened to ski over. After that, I took Shuttle up again and went over to Spur, which is the NASTAR run. Spur skied well. After that, I went down and did Lower Runway, which was fabulous. I honesly don't know why Lower Runway is a double blue, because those headwalls are decent. I actually think that Lower Runway is harder than Cannonball, which is an official black. Anyways, did that a few times taking the Phoebe Lift up, then I did Cannonball, which was good. Usually, I love Cannonball, but it was not my favorite tonight. So then, I went back to the upper mountain and did some more Spur runs, then some down Whistler (new lighting is great on Whistler--I don't get what the complaining is about the lighting, I think it is well lighted). Then more down Lower Runway, which I was super enjoying. So then, I was super cold (I hate layers and hats and stuff like that), and I was going to quit. But at the top of Phoebe I was like, no stop being such a pansy. So then I did a few runs down Boomer, which was awesome. Lots of chalky goodness. After that, I called it an evening. I kept my eye out for Snoskier, who was working this evening, but unfort. did not see him. All in all, what a great way to start off *my* season. I totally got my skiing groove back, thank god. One thing that I really like about Sno is that they put out an excellent product. All of Lower Mountain (where I spent the majority of my time) was obviously groomed and then fan gunned over. Therefore, the snow is sort of ungroomed (not really, but not just straight cord), but the powder is so dry and fresh, that there is never a need to worry about death cookies (a la Stowe on Easter). According to the website, this is Sno's new strategy for the lower part of the mountain. In their words, they groom the lower half, and then dust it over every night. Now, I am having a healthy dinner of one beer! I think PASR def. needs to have a PASR day at Sno this year!!
  22. Yeah all of the North face is open.
  23. Love it. Am looking forward to getting to Jack Frost a few times this year!
