  1. http://www.skiwisp.com/winter_mountainreport.htm 2 of the runs are open with ungroomed natural if that tells you anything
  2. Very highest level - USSA/FIS racing - You can enter USSA J1/J2/Sr races at any age (>= 15) as long as you register as a racer with the USSA. Very fast skiers get a FIS license and race in those events. (When I say very fast, I mean very fast.) High level - Masters (but still has a wide variety of skill levels; anyone with a NASTAR Gold or higher could consider racing in Masters and would likely enjoy it.) Master's racing is organized racing, training, and some social events, with competition is sanctioned by the USSA, that is for racers 18 and over. Many who participate came up through the USSA kids race programs, but a significant number did not. Masters does break up participants into age categories, but they are pretty broad (ex: 18 to 44). You need to join the USSA to race (more than once per year) in a Masters race, but you can live anywhere and enter. (In fact, people might think it's cool if you came from far away to participate in a race.) And, you don't need to join the USSA to just try it out. You can learn more about Masters racing in New England at http://www.nemasters.org Next highest - ASRA - lots' of overlap w/Masters, but allows younger participants and may not attract as many former elite racers Typically for intermediate skiers or better- club racing - CISC/CSC in Connecticut; Wachusett has a rich night league, etc Hard to tag - NASTAR. The courses are open to make them reasonable for a wide audience. But, you'll get some lightning quick racers who go through the course each season to use as comparison. There is no standard course. NASTAR suggests that par times be around 23 seconds. As you experienced, there is great variety. But, they say that variety is the spice of life. You can find slalom racing in Masters events and ASRA events. Lower level racing, such as club racing or NASTAR do not typically have slalom as it is quite technical. The exception is when a league registers their race with NASTAR so participants can get a handicap.
  3. That is soooooo funny.... because tonight I stopped into TJ Maxx.. I saw SALE!!! OK .... it was really embarrassing buying 3 $5 bras!!!!!! all lacy pink. polka dots -- I showed them to my kids thinking that they would get a great kick out of them... It was funny at the cashier register and it was really difficult explaining that I was really going to throw them in a tree to appease the snow gods.. CB - 8 am... the sacrificial ceremony will start! Be there!
  4. Welcome Beachie!!!! yeah-- this weather sucks, my heart is breaking for BC so much, they do not deserve this crap, my kids are hating on me for not getting them up there this week. Spring skiing is coming way to early this year.. Sacrifice something to the snow gods, open your freezer doors... turn on the air conditioners.......something.....
  5. Until my kid decapitates a jolly giant while spinning like a blender!!
  6. Justo - message joe g.. he is a straight shooter, he will tell you what is up. Normally (with snow) they set up some sick parks. Some of the skiers there are as good if not better than here at Blue and BC - just my opinion. However, they don't ski in the USASA comps.....
  7. I am sure the regular crew that were at CB and BC will be there. If you check out MASS you should get an indication of who will be there. We will in Breck otherwise I'd bring nipples over. http://usasa.org/series/midatlantic/files/...0Slopestyle.pdf
  8. Cool report back! Jake and staff have been great supporters of PASR this season. I hope to visit end of season.
  9. my bad, you are correct.
  10. AWWWW - I feel so sorry for him... NOT! nice post though, thanks!
  11. Hey --- I am going to get one of those air horn things.. to hell with calling drop - with todays helmets and mp3's and focus on what is below and nobody not respecting the code that also says look up before entering.. I think a train whistle/horn might be a better solution. I tell my kid scream drop and continue to call it for the idiots that don't look up when someone is starting cut in front of him and he has already dropped in. It's a problem that can only be solved by having designated (painted or fenced) drop in points.
  12. Look up the tommies from NS, that is their home mountain. Two excellent park skiers. I like Wisp. I understand that they have been getting snow unlike the rest of us. We were hoping to get back and visit this year, but it is unlikely at this point. Wisp has some new trails and the lodge on the slope has western feel.. a good place.. However it is 4-5 hours drive for the majority of the members here. How far is it for you? like 3?
  13. If you are going to park city for a week or so and this your first visit, you should the safari tourist thing.. Park city one day then, Canyons, Deer valley then drop down to Snowbird and Brighton... Always get the first lift and head to the back as fast as you can and then work some trails back in. The canyons is freakin Huge. Try and find the experts park at snowbird. Super sick!! Utah in March is aways epic.. so much some of the times I have been there I have gotten sick of it! TOOOOO much snow Please don't show up at Alta with your board in hand.. you will be so pissed. Snow Basin up north is good, more of local place as is Brighton. I would put Park City and Deer Valley at the bottom of the list.
  14. Sib - didn't I read somewhere that you guys were adding a super pipe? or was that somewhere close by? Interesting that the park was empty. Basic jibs on some great looking snow. Man it hurts seeing all that snow.. THanks for taking the time to take those pics Sib!!
  15. Send a self addressed Stamped Envelope to me at: Rob Larick PO Box 190 Landenberg PA 19350 I will send you stickers in return!!
  16. Bumped up since this is such a good review of Blues Park(s)
  17. It wasn't me
  18. SHIT!! I have a 4pm meeting....... I bet on them closing..... crap...
  19. WOW!!! either you really are a human or your meds must have just kicked in... C'mon you didn't write that... not in this thread anyway? So you know, I race, but only under duress I personally don't have any interest in racing, but I will if goaded into it. I don't get the thousands of dollars part? The clinic that starts this thread is $140.00 not a big deal for a days training on a private course, lift ticket, new friends with a common interest, lunch and a ton of swag.
  20. Yeah, here is one, they told me that if I could get you to say something positive that I could do all the race clinics for free, forever. OK - I agree with you - the MSRT has absolutely nothing positive to offer and there is no benefit to attending a clinic prior to the National race and these guys only do this to make money off of unsuspecting tourists. I agree that the only way to improve ones racing skills is to follow your every suggestion and never waver to anything else, because you are the best and no one knows more about race training than you do. Are you happy now?
  21. I'll start another thread Doug.
  22. Ah yep.... I really hoped that certain member(s) - (I think there is only one) could put their personal differences with the leader of this clinic aside. I was wrong for giving the benefit of a doubt.

  24. Your point is a good one - except they couldn't control the 2 foot powder dump!! Powder can make your quads burn quickly if you aren't used to it, no doubt.. I too had a wild ride and actually got dizzy from whiteout conditions with vertigo.. Lost my balance and got swallowed by a 4 foot drift on headwall. As far as altitude sickness, that happens when people are in high elevations like Utah Ridge got a first hand look at the type of gates set. That was invaluable. I too think that MSRT is hard for a "recreational Skier" to grasp. However at that point last year, the concept was something to think about and work on and it still is. I think you have to be serious about racing to take a clinic before a race. That would put you in the category of competitive.. The ironic part about ski999's last post is that I watched it unfold on the Nastar Forum where he was accusing this person of this and that person of that.. He hurled the first rocks by accusing the members on that message board of having something to do with a change in a pace set that changed his kids medal status. For someone who speaks about Nastar the way the do. It is extremely ironic that he puts such a huge emphasis on a trinket.... It is ashame that the guy has and maintains such a chip on his shoulder over something he brought upon himself. Just my opinion based on what I saw. It's funny how I can start this thread the way I did and it just gets ignored.. Go back at it? Already did that - read my first paragraph of this thread - actually read the bolded font. Ski999-Does not read or follow directions well. - Now go to your room and sit this race out.
  25. Go to this site: THese are the real deal!!! Everyone wants to know how my kid can fall so much and keep going. well............ here is the secret!!! http://crash-pads.com/intro.aspx?dept=snow
