nice pix, looks like a fun morning!

we were talking about doing the tuesday race clinic next year

just back from a nastar session with nastar glenn. course conditions were slick but not really icy, not too offset except #3 was giving me some trouble. glenn was having an off nite and bagged it after 3 or 4 runs out of frustration. i kept at it and did 10 runs before hitting my plataeu. was cold and hungry (tlc bar, southwest chix salad and a clif bar all day) so didn't free ski afterward. jerry and racer joe were putting up some 20something's, i did my course best 23.52 for a 27.71 hc silver - i guess theres always next year for gold, a millenium seeming .77 away..... oops another post in the wrong forum - right mountain, wrong day

c'mon fellas grow up....wtf anyway, fwiw i taught my son (the youngest of 3 and the only credentials i have..) on my ixrc 1100's which are have the same dims as the i800 that skiHEAD talks about and they were were great....but....having since gotten the fischer riu twins which are softer and center mounted i would definatley would have and still do choose the twins when skiing with the kids, easier to butter around on (=more fun for you and the kids) and better handling at the slower speeds. i assume the shorter turnier SL skis would do the same thing though. got this link emailed to me today http://www.skis.com/category/Ski_Skis_Kids_Kids+Skis 50% off kids skis this week

i never did either until i saw winterwarlock cruising around boulder with his 2-3 yo daughter earlier this season, looked like it worked great ! i think he's an instructor at bc

its also fun giving them "the whip" over the booters, letting go of the leash and watching them fly! j/k....I only remember using the leash/harness for a few days or so after they learned to stand and turn a little to be able to slow 'em down when they got out of control, still gave'em independence without having to tackle 'em or watch 'em ski into the woods! they learned to check their own speed pretty quickly... to get kids started i do see people using leashes to support the kid like a marionette or something, doesn't seem like a good idea. i broke my back holding the ski poles for them like a water ski bar early on but a hoola hoop's the way to go!

just one more thing on the lessons POC - we found the group 1/2 or whole days, they called it Ski-Wee at Blue back then, to be the most effective. gets 'em going quick and the kids seem to feed off each other. its hilarious to watch! we were up to Greek Peak new york with another family with little ones a few weeks ago and the ski school was the most impressive i have seen to date anywhere. You may want to look into a weekend up there next year

as was i, newby gaperness disease does not discriminate as plain white folk and the asian contingent were duly represented, although the russians seem to be a little louder and clumsier. My son is adopted from russia and my (bad) running jokeof the day was "hey, you know that guy?"

Its interesting that they cater to that market but i also rode up with a few passholders who were very loyal to the mt, one was another dad and his boy who had been coming up with his father since he was a kid, all 3 generations had skiid together that morning - pretty cool! I guess they don't ski on windy or snowy days! say what you will but on the surface its certainly a more appealling mountain than the other poke hills

My advice after 3 kids follows alot of what the others said: you - definately all mountain twins or at least an all mountain ski with a turned up tail, you'll be skiing switch ALOT, i still choose boot comfort over performance and stick with pretty flexible intermediate boot, on family days i still do alot of standing and mushing around. her - i did seasonal rentals until they were 8 or 9, every one of their ski and boot sizes changed EVERY YEAR, some will argue that you could find the deals to buy every year and you probably can, it was just too much work for me with 3 save your back - get one of those harnesses or even better start with a hoola hoop lessons - i'm all about the lesson, my kids seem to respond much better to the instrcutors and a good kids program has all kind of neat tricks beyond pizza / french fries have fun and be patient! a day on the flats watching your kid improve beats a blubird powder day! (well not really but its pretty cool!)

last minute change of plans and ended up at camelback this afternoon from 1-5:30, nice snow, lots sun, warm temps and tons of russians and gapers, the highlight of the day was watching newbies self destruct below on the lift rides up with my ten yo boy, we were in tears some rides! maybe itss because i havene't skiid a weekend afternoon in pa in a long time but i cant remember it ever being like that, like the whole mountain was filled with abbott & costello and 3 stooges bits! best runs of the day were the bumps on rocket and pharo had some cool rollers

mrs snowbunski, the 3 groms and i came up to mt snow last night for our annual valentines trip. stayin at he kitzhof inn again, cool place run by a nice british couple, great breakfast/pancakes. conditions today were ok considering they got a sh!tload of freezing rain up here wednesday, never quite turned to snow all groomed out, smooth fast, edgable hardpack. no bumps trees or fresh to be found, crunchy crispy crunch and munch once you get to the edges . no lift lines at all tho today, windy with flurries throughout amounting to a dusting+. after skiing the afternoon on north face with my son we found a little stash of soft snow on uncles. ran some nastar with the twins tips for a silver, tommorrow take the ixrc's up to go for the gold, nyok nyok! dinner at silo for some cajun sword steak mmmm followed by carvel birthday cake for our valentine's birthday boy. chillin in the inn lounge room now with a few magic hat fat angels after catching last nights lost episode on the laptop. tommorow supposed to be sunny cold high of 20 and the groomers are out in force, another day criusin the groomed. mrs snowbunski's lovin it. she digs the smooth cord. its all good yo doug grill it up for those AZ'rs!

a guy i played hockey with last night was bitchin because the last time they blew snow in winds like this he ended up with an inch of fresh on his driveway a few miles away in walnutport
