Opening Day

Recommended Posts

Lightning and the scientists have confirmed that on the 29th on November at 3pm big boulder PARK will start to turn the lift on freedom PARK for a night full of features, fun, and freedom. $20 or 10 in date canned goods, or $10 worth of new toys gets you on the snow. See you all here.

BB does an awesome job. Snow quality was great, and no crowds this year (at least when I was there). I arrived around 2:30, went into the lodge, got my pass, and then got booted up. I got in line around 2:55pm, and there was maybe 20 people in front of me. There was a steady flow of people walking up to the lift after each run I took. I got a quick 6 or 7 laps in, and the line was starting to grow, so I skied back to my car, and left. Just had to get my fix for the week :)

For those of you who don't think I ski Atomic's anymore...and some new boot porn :)

Tried to grab a shot of Big Boulder park, but too many trees. They blew a decent amount on it.

nice report...hopefully they can get Big Boulder Park open for the weekend..how would you describe base depths and surface conditions?

Freedom wasn't as wide as it usually is, but wide enough for me to avoid all the 'honks. They really spread it out thin to open up, but it was good enough. Surface conditions? Cocaine white powder.

Thats because by the time you even get up to a decent speed at boulder your at the bottom.

Out of all the trails at JFBB, I get the most speed on Big Boulder Park/Trail when there are no jumps on it. That's an awesome trail for early season skiing.

I did manage to hit 56mph on my 165cm slalom skis in questionable conditions on Floyds. Not bad.

Those don't look like fat skis to me.
