Decisions decisions.....post-1572-14421651563547_thumb.jpg

The hype is real.....believe it

Live TV and sports aren't always free in HD though.... They can be though for a subscription cost...

Movies still in the theatres are hit and miss....sometimes they are great quality with foreign subtitles....sometimes they are shit.

Crap shoot... you get your money's worth easily even more so if you're not too picky.

So, kinda bored yesterday and looked into this briefly.  i believe droidstreamtv is not the only game in town for this, but feel free to correct me if im wrong.  i think anything that supports the XBMC/Kodi platform will do the trick.  I did even read a short piece that you can get this to work on the amazon fire stick, but i think someone has to jailbreak it or something.  Where is TTC6 when you need him?  And why did my font size just change?

I was looking at this on Amazon, and it comes up with good reviews from pcmags, etc.  i dont find too much info outside their own webpage about driodstreamtv.

This looks like a better option than netflix if you are even remotely thinking of cutting the cord on cable.

Yes there's tons of options out there.... Kodi / xbmc is what you need... Pretty much any box will work. The droidstreamtv (zoomtak) box is aluminum so it doesn't overheat like some of the others out there. I went with droidstreamtv mainly due to the fact that I don't feel like doing all the work... They have a built in updater and while there is some work involved its a lot less than the do it yourself options.

It's your choice but an extra $50 for a ton less work over time and a better, faster unit was why I went that route.

There's more expensive options as well like dragonbox...

Choose your own route but I'm happy with mine... T8 plus quad core....zoomtak box

Fwiw.... I bought mine off eBay not the droidstreamtv store. If you're interested search droidstreamtv there's three boxes he sells on there cheaper than the website itself. They do offer a referral program but I'd rather see people save some money than get $20...so I'm not part of it. I did the best offer option on eBay.... I paid $150 shipped for the T8 plus box (best one he sells listed for $175 on eBay)

you can search kodi on eBay and see other options as well.... I can only vouch for what I got though.

Oh.... Just to clarify.

I would not give up my fios for this completely, you could if you aren't picky. You either need one per tv (that means that you are updating multiple boxes etc....) or you can easily move it from room to room... Better option imo

These are great for movies..... Ditch Netflix for sure....Ditch ppv shit.....

Live tv is where this lacks a bit....

Either the quality isn't there for the free options...or its a bit of work to find it, or you're paying for a subscription service.... That imo defeates the purpose for me.

I also wouldn't want this being used by my kids without me around.....way too much easily accessible rated R movies and porn.

Netflix got boring for me.....tons of shit but nothing I really wanted

Amazon prime video just sucked..

With the kodi I get whatever I want pretty much.....

I have to replace my Roku box in order to get HBO GO (streaming) which I get thru my deal with Comcast. Can I get that on your box?

John will probably be able to confirm this, but my take on these devices is they are basically a tablet, without a screen. TV = screen.  i think you can download apps on it from google play.  So, if there is an HBO GO app for android, i believe it will work.
