  1. Same thing on Challenge. Really really sweet first run, then so-so half hour later. Did a couple weeks in KC for their water system QA software. Also at the Unilever packaging plant outside of town. Nice BBQ.
  2. Wifey and I got Moderna vaccine last Thursday at Weis in Brodheadsville. No unusual reaction. A couple weeks after second shot scheduled for 3/4 and we should be golden (except for the South Africa variant).
  3. Integrated low ride Marker demo bindings. Easy big turns 40 mph run down Floyd’s, still some stash on the sides. Risk it looks overgrown though. Hit 58 on Rivershot last drop.
  4. True packed powder day. No teeth rattling frozen cord today. No ice at all. 16 degrees, mostly cloudy. East Mountain lift mostly full, but no line. Quad not running. Soft cord, Elevator, Challenge glade, Mad Tree glade all looking good. Spent my time on the groomers. Challenge was nice and consistent, Tbolt was groomed with rollers before the drops so could get some air if you wanted to.
  5. A couple of inches early morning, just light flurries at 9, kind of a light freezing mist to mess up the goggles, then the snow picked up again around 11. Light crowd, still no lift lines when I left at 10:30, but my goggles kept freezing up. First few runs were really nice from the valley, but the snow got cut up pretty quick. Main Street, Switch Back and Widow Maker were still in good shape when I left.
  6. Razors and Challenge were nice, but like GSS said, Widowmaker was the fun run. Skied to about 10:45 when the double chair started getting backed up n
  7. You are probably right, the JF condo people don’t hit the slopes until 10. Since the don’t have to drive home, they will probably party hardy, and sleep in.
  8. Bundled up a little extra today, 14 degrees and the wind howling on top. Top of razors swept bare, but the wind wasn’t too bad once you got down in the trees. Fortunately I used the carbide cutters on the edges last night, so ice was nice. Snow was nice on NMDW, but it was a pain avoiding the features. Sidewinder and Lazy Mile had OK snow. Marbles on Challenge, but not as bad as last Friday. Razors was the run of the day. Called it a day at 10:15 when the lines started building up, and was sandblasted by snow chips coming up off the top of razors.
  9. If Blue puts in condos, the lift lines will be packed at opening.
  10. Sidewinder was def the run of the day. Kind of lights out on the bottom half early on, but flat enough to absorb any unseen bumpyness. Stayed on the Main St lift.
  11. Nice on Monday. Was lazy today, so after a warmup run on Paradise to get the knee oil running (Sidewinder closed due to blowing snow), I spent the morning on Razors and the quad. Excellent shape. Challenge seemed to have been widened, but I figured it couldn’t be better than Razors was this morning. Plus there were marbles on the falls.
  12. I use the dry cleaner/laundromat in the ShopRite in Brodheadsville, but as was mentioned any dry cleaner can do alterations.
  13. I just had a tailor replace my zipper for about 20 bucks.
  14. Races at Blue on Feb 6 and 7, 14, 19, 20, 21. Championships and finals canceled this year.
  15. U14 woman’s race Saturday and Men’s Sunday.
  16. Left this morning at 10:15 after 7 runs. Got really crowded - even the slow lift over near Main Street. The runs over there were in pretty good shape. I’ve been known to throw shade at the Blue groomers, but I have to admit it takes considerable skill to take a fairly OK Challenge, and over the course of a couple days turn it into completely unskiable marble pile top to bottom. Came over the lip and it looked like Hickory Run State Park’s boulder field. Sidewinder was good, but with Razors roped off, NMDW a pretty packed park (3 trips up on the quad and I didn’t see a single person hit a feature - quite a waste of a nice slope), it got crowded fast.
  17. Victoria head wall below the crossover from little Whiteface. Niagara headwall just above it (on cloud spin). Take a gander at the slides to the right near the top of the Big Whiteface chair. I’ve seen people on it, but it is above my payscale.
  18. Yu bois sure looked purty coming down Razors from the peanut gallery on the quad.
  19. I noticed at Blue recently on NMDW and earlier on Sidewinder, they blew snow, leveled out the snow gun whales into a jumbled mess, let it sit through several freeze thaw cycles blowing more snow before grooming it out. At Frost they seem to leave the whales until they are done blowing snow, and then groom it out completely in one day (or night).
  20. Loaded up my pass with another ticket, parked slope side, got the boots on, and started off on Thunderbolt. Slopes nicely groomed, with 2” freshies on top. Had to head over to the E Mtn lift since it looks like they stopped running Challenge lift weekdays. Rivershot and Floyd’s were nice, but a little slow with the new stuff on top. RedCoats roped off Elevator, I guess they don’t want anyone thinking it is covered and going down it. The bottom of Rivershot can get a little ragged, but it was perfect today. Trail intersection at the top of Floyd’s bottom of Solitude was a little bumpy. Demattes was a little rough, and they had Exhibition closed, blowing snow to fill in the left side. Hard to build up a nice rhythm with the head walls on East Mountain, so I spent most of the morning on challenge. Challenge was pretty quiet since most people stayed on East Mountain or skied the West area of the mountain. One Park looked ok. Had to skate from E Mtn to reach TBolt, so only did that a couple of times. Challenge glade too thin. Patch on my bases held up pretty well, have to see how it holds up on ice. 25°, a little wind, cloudy and flurries to start off with but then it cleared up being partly sunny. Drove up to Frost listening to the dumpster fire moving back down to Florida, and drove back home listening to the new president.
  21. Filled out the over 65 questionnaire for St Luke’s, waiting to hear. Lehigh Valley still only has the essential worker questionnaire on their website.
  22. We lost our well pump on Thursday, and I was all set to ski Blue that day. Plumber came right out. Ouch. 400 foot down, 1 HP. Last fall we found out the CPVC sewer pipe snapped where it goes through the foundation wall. Fortunately outside. Our foundation plantings were well fertilized.
  23. Got there for the 9AM rope drop. Conditions were good not great. Challenge was the run of the day, nice from top to bottom. Sidewinder was also great. Razors was nice on top and better on the bottom than last week. Lazy Mile and Main Street were a little disappointing, a little sugary and a little scraped when I hit them about 10. Got a pretty good gouge somewhere. Have to do some base repair tonight. Left around 10:30.
  24. Have you done the road up to Bear’s ears?
