  1. Up again to JF, started snowing just as I turned in about 9. Pretty steady snow until about 11:30 when it started sleeting. Challenge and Dematte’s in great shape, nicely buttered with freshies. They opened up thunderbolt for about an hour as the ski patrol was putting padding and sticks defining the edges, closed it about 11 for some reason. Exhibition still not anywhere near close to being ready. Maybe about 50 or 60 people in the house.
  2. Oops, misunderstood the issue. Separate SPH line all the way to the end of the general line would be grate.
  3. Left side of the summit six pack had one today. The rope line after the season pass gate extended about halfway to the chair.
  4. Was waiting in line with a woman today who said that since she had an Ikon Pass she figured why not come up today. Heard a staff person say that today was the most crowded non-holiday Monday ever. Despite that, lazy mile and upper Main Street were in pretty good shape, although marbles were developing in lower main street. Never did make it over to the other side because the line for the quad started backing up pretty early. Atomic Jeff and Johnny Law were laying down some railroad tracks on upper Main Street. Quit about 1030 when the lift lines just exploded.
  5. Two runs on an empty Paradise first thing, then the rest of the morning on Coming Soon until the Paradise run out got too crowded. Good times.
  6. Blowing on Paradise, upper Main, Lazy Mile, top of Razors (although most of that is going over the top of the slope). Stopped around 10. Conditions this morning slightly better than Sunday, with the exception of lower Paradise- one person a time going through the brown spot. Not as much sugar, Freefall a little crowded, Midway/Lower Main fairly empty. Burma had the best snow, but massively crowded.
  7. Up to JF for a short session so the 3 YO granddaughter could try out her Christmas presents of skis, boots, harness and helmet. Spent most of the time on the Powder Puff lift, but took a run down Dematte’s (a little skied off with piles of soft stuff) and Challenge (soft, but pretty consistent). Back to the lodge about 1 pm and it was about 1/4 full.
  8. Actually, was on my Deacons (advertised as front side rippers) and having a great time. My son is out from Sacramento, normally skis Kores, but he just brought his boots. Tried my Experience 88s but the springs in the bindings were too worn out to keep them from popping off. Had his old pair of race room Fischer slalom world cups he switched to. First time on them in 10 years, and the took him for quite the ride.
  9. Ski patroller at the bottom of where Main Street lift used to be was trying to control speed coming off lower main and snowboarders plopping down in the middle of the trail. Had an electronic device to ding your pass. He said 2 dings and the pass is invalid for the day. Said it was the worst job ever.
  10. Another day, another few runs down One Park. About 30 when I arrived and when I left around noon. Strong wind blowing up the hill. A couple of cars off the road on 115 up on the plateau. They got about 1/2 inch of lake effect snow last night after the rain. Slope still in pretty good shape. Very quiet. DeMattes and Challenge look almost ready to go. Maybe this weekend or after Christmas.
  11. Dec 12, pretty much the same as last week, skied one park from about 10 to 1130. One of the changes I noticed in the lodge was they move the store from across from the pass desk to what was the open lunch area next to the cafeteria so there is significantly less tables space in the lodge. Still blowing snow on Dematte’s, and presumably on Challenge They picked up some snow over the weekend.
  12. I’m at about 1000 ft and we got half an inch. Melting now.
  13. Some nice chase drone work on today’s Woman’s Downhill.
  14. Oh no, I missed that the waffle cabin opened today.
  15. You can order two sets of free kits, one from the fall, and one from this winter.
  16. Couldn’t wait for Friday to have blue reopen, so spent the morning at Frost. 27° when I got there and 30 when I left about noon. Snowing fairly hard first thing in the morning, with about 2 inches of fresh powder. Did a run on Jane’s Lane, and then the rest of the morning on One Park. They had a half dozen features on one park. They were blowing snow on Dematte’s andappeared to be on Challenge also. Still a long way to go for both of those slopes. The new four person lift going over exhibition was pretty nice, although, of course pretty slow. Lifties were very friendly today. Probably about 30 people in the house. A car missed a turn on the road going out and was being towed. All in all, and nice morning. Exhibition One Park
  17. Hopefully you didn’t catch me landing on my face.
  18. Missed the rope drop at 8. Waiting to get my pass working
  19. We had a portable gasoline generator that put out 2 phases, and put in a 2 phase plug and socket on the power line to the well and fabbed up a little adapter so we could hook it up to 110 cords coming from each side of the generator to the well. High level alarm from the septic pump tank was also put on the generator. Also cut into the furnace power with a dedicated outlet and pigtail coming from the kill switch so we could supply that with the generator. Probably not code, but it is all in the basement, so doing a rewire if there is a fuss when we sell the house isn’t a big deal.
  20. Need a space to keep all our toys. Kayaks, paddles, fishing gear, archery, bikes, skis, Jeep tow and recovery gear, hiking packs and boots. Any plans for a whole house generator? That was a purchase we never regretted.
  21. Worthington glacier at Thompson Pass above Valdez this summer. They just got 65 inches of snow in 24 hours.
  22. After 3 years of La Niña, we transitioned to El Niño last June. Not sure how La Niña affects snowfall.
