  1. That boat is an OC-1; Blackfly Ion. Really comfortable, slow as a pig, but nimble and surfy. http://www.blackflycanoes.com/
  2. That is Cucumber Rapid on the Lower Yough in western PA. It's the perfect class III river: fun, interesting rapids, but almost everything is drop-pool so you only have to think about one rapid at a time and you have space to recover if it all goes wrong.
  3. Don't be a poop-head! I'm just sharing some VT love! And the perks of lower-level ski-industry management! ๐Ÿ˜
  4. I got some VIP passes through work and they came with parking in the lot right under the Gondola. We got some free swag, lots of good food, and free beer and bloody Mary's. Ended up being a really good place to watch from; big tvs until the skiers came in sight, then a good view from there. The place went nuts when Shiffren won, and really any time an American or Canadian was up. Was a fun scene and the crowds weren't too crazy, but we were lucky.
  5. Gettinโ€™ after some bloody marys!
  6. World Cup! Getting ready for second runs. VIP tent: free open bar and great food. Having a Lagunitas.
  7. I love it! I'm super lucky the way everything seems to be working out.
  8. That was a pic from Friday; it's still dumping here today. View from my porch this morning.
  9. That's a Tucker Cat in front of Suicide Six. Our ops manager, Gerren Goodwin, rehabbed it and got it running. They use it to groom for special events, like the fatbike slalom, etc.
  10. Skied Okemo Sunday and a patroller-friend there says they'll be 75% open by the weekend. Woke up this morning to another snowstorm. Pretty great "stick season" if you ask me!
  11. Aren't they turning Pharoah and Bactrian into a top-to-bottom terrain park?
  12. I would LOVE to patrol, but seasonal work doesn't provide health insurance. GSS, I'm on my town's fast squad, so yeah I respond to 911 calls; medical, trauma, etc. Lots of alcohol-related shit. We get specifically toned for anything in West Windsor, VT.
  13. I knew it! I move to Vermont and get to ski less often! Grrrrrr. Work all week and EMT class and ambulance shifts all weekend until December 15 then holiday madness begins and I work crazy hours. I'm only going to have decent stats if I get to ski at lunch. ๐Ÿ˜ก Still not sorry I live here, but jealous of and missing night skiing.
  14. Serious question: what's with the tail? Advantage/disadvantage?
  15. I still enjoy the memory of Eaf's face when I introduced myself to him in the parking lot.
  16. I've started using my phone for music after losing three iPod Shuffles off the chairlift. I recovered one of them in the spring melt; it had been through a groomer and salted. At least with that one I had closure. The phone stays in my pocket, though.
  17. Aw, shucks. I need to seriously step up my photo game to keep up with you, those pics were great; I especially love the lone mountaintop Adirondack chair facing the snow gun.
  18. True, Indiggio said the same. I guess because it's October and seems so early. Everyone's still enjoying the foliage, etc. The snowless skiing in PA is usually in January.
  19. Did a write-up for the Lady Site. https://www.theskidiva.com/october-skiing-is-it-worth-it/
  20. I am proud to be a Sally and all my doors are Sallyports. I pass through them the same way I ski and bike: with enthusiasm, a limited skill set, and an elevated blood-alcohol level.
  21. Great report and pics! I did go back down around 1:30 and did about five runs that were really fun. I saw a ton of people walking back to the gondola and figured that it would be less crowded than the morning, which it was. Looked for you and your wife but was never confident enough that it was you to shout out. DId you have some sort of writing/logo on the back of your jacket? Keep in mind I'm barely more than a novice skier, so the poor visibility and bumped-up terrain were really challenging. I figured time on snow can't be a bad thing even if it's difficult, and I liked that the variable surface made me really have to work on staying forward (as opposed to starting out the season being lazy/sloppy on groomers). But I also didn't want to get hurt, so I was pretty tentative. I was super jealous of all the good skiers ripping around with such confidence!
  22. Superstar getting hammered; view from below Rhyme/Teason ( with a sweet pair of rtms in the foreground), gondola at 9am, virw from the top.
