  1. I always make a point to travel each season. Even if its just a few days in NY or VT, and the flexibility of basically having a season pass to whatever mountain is nearby is a great bonus. Skip the ticket lines, go right to the lifts and when you add in the cost of a ticket at Hunter or Mt Snow it quickly makes it worth the investment. My only real gripe is that Hunter is probably 3rd on my list of Catskills resorts. Haven't gotten to the NH places yet but will definitely check them out. I guess it comes down to if you plan to travel or not each season.
  2. Was a Roundtop pass any more expensive. A drifter pass costs the same as a season pass the Blue would for me, and I have the bonus of a free day at Hunter or Mt $now.
  3. PA mountains in order of gnarliness *provided they have received ample natural snowfall*: The Knob Elk Blue Mountain the True Mountain Jackson Frost Everything else
  4. Platty is a gem. That place is a lot of fun after they've gotten some solid snowfall.
  5. Montage is great because it really like two mountain on top of one another.
  6. You could rip up the slide when they had a lot of snow. You'd get yelled at though. It was fun. Good move turning it into a trail. Still not agreeing with the terrain park move though. Doesn't matter as I never will go to CB again probably.
  7. Wait, they put a terrain park on Pharaoh? Why? I liked when it was contained on its own little area with that mid mountain double. They had the cool graffiti thing going too.
  8. There's still the cliff under the east mountain lifts. Skiers left a short way after you come onto the liftline after exiting River Shot. It's before Mark's Way crosses under the lift. The sign for Risk It is still there too.
  9. Just got back from Jackson Frost. Elevator is indeed open although its almost impossible to drop into the steepest section it being a sheet of ice. Skiers' right was great though. First time I've ever really hit it, definitely need more practice (and more snow) to get down more confidently without a line pause before that little drop/cliff thing halfway down. Also Challenge glade was pretty much full top to bottom which was great.
  10. Blockbuster at Platty is maybe steeper. Westway is legit though. I like Hunter but don't like the crowds and its easier to put together unique runs and kinda get "lost" at Belle or Platty. Better glades too when the conditions are on.
  11. Best run of the day was ripping up the lift line under the Merry Widow lift.
  12. Boulder opens today at 1:00, as per their facebook page.
  13. I have this intense craving to wear zubaz now.
  14. Looks promising. NWS is called for about 3-6 inches of snow Thursday into Friday before it turns to a mix of sleet/freezing rain/rain. Saturday looks like the better day to open.
  15. Think they can open next weekend?
  16. Guns on at BB overnight. Just looks like they blew on Freedom and maybe the neighboring green.
  17. We're on page 69 of this thread.
  18. Great conditions for their last weekend. Probably better now at closing than what it was mid February.
  19. Yup I've got a Peak Pass. Will probably get another for next year since there's a chance I'll be moving to Albany next year for work. Would be easy to switch my home mountain to Hunter and Mt Snow then. Dare I choose Blue this weekend?
  20. I see freezing rain on the NWS for Blakeslee. Changing over to rain tomorrow morning but should be done by noon. If you don't mind a wet day, have at it but the woods and ungroomed stuff will probably be beat by then. I'm staying away until the weekend. I'll probably break out the Sims Blade for their last day.
  21. It's been an incredible month up there. Made up for a lackluster February.
  22. People must have been going crazy last week and after that last storm. I saw tracks all over the place.
  23. It was ok. Got scraped off pretty quick but its not icy, still edgeable and there's lots of soft stuff on the sides.
