  1. 3/5/25 Robins and Running water.
Bought a Flashback day ticket but didn’t get there till after 4:15 , too late for any contest. My old stretch pants are very absorbent “ Vintage 1982 “ I did get some laughs from some of the older employees.
I’m amazed I could barely still fit on the last clip. Skied my old Kneisel magic star skis. One run and done, just to skinny for the slush.

Looks bleak, F lift side is clinging. I got a run down the last 3’ wide strip on Sasquatch . Skied nicely considering.

    And not the engineer?

I’m not train savvy. How many people does it take to operate?  My wife and I had a discussion the other night about there being two locomotives. Is the second one connected electronically or is there a separate crew?

    Is that a golden eagle?

Some type of Hawk. Haven’t looked it up yet. I was hoping to see some bald eagles.
When I was over the ski area I saw what I thought were three but I as got closer they were Buzzards. Two males were really dog fighting. I saw a flock of seagulls over Palmerton. The hawk was close to Lehighton .

Coverage looks pretty grate still. Thanks for the pics, I flew to Joysee today and didn't feel like flying all the way up to True Blue. Let me know when the picnic is, maybe I'll do a few low approaches at Beltzville.

👍 Clouds were a little lower than I would like but between 3,500 - 4000’ the thermals were pretty strong in that altitude range . I hung around West of the ski area but noticed a nonstop thermal by the sand quarry . I wanted a picture from due north .

Nice pictures..they should seed big moguls on the chute..that would catch a few people coming off the lip off guard.  How was challenge?

That would be cool, Re name it Superstar.

That would be quite a buzzsaw for lip launchers . I met someone at Cannon mountain who got rekt by a mogul field.
He lost an edge and went into a field at 40 mph. Busted up his ribs pretty badly and took quite a while to recover.

Challenge was okay but there were a bunch of newbs on Falls .

I returned for a late afternoon session and Barneys was haggard with turf in places and icy spots ☹️

Took a few runs with @mbike-ski Coming soon ditch was meh , I popped back out and couldn’t set an edge in one spot.

    Main st was not bad.

  6. I worked  late yesterday and was feeling a bit tired, but decided to go for a morning session. Made tail end of Quad open , mostly racers. I took a high speed run down challenge. I headed for Main Street second run and was greeted with Barney’s beautiful 2”” refresher about as good as it got this year aside from natural snow.

Stayed on Barneys till 11ish . It was starting to get scraped off in a few places, but still skiing really nice. They seeded some bumps on King .

  7. Retro Day 3/5/24

Hopefully they make it till Tuesday.
Thinking of going, my wife reminded me of my old stretch pants. I pulled them out of the closet and they fit… Barely.
    Nice memento attached.
A ticket from Doe Mountains last day lol.

Anything in the long range forecast?  Should we be planting tomatoes early!!

Up until a few weeks ago the long term looked cold. I think the quick pattern change caught the weather guys by surprise. I don’t see any below freezing temperatures from Saturday through Thursday sadly.

This might be one of those years we get a huge storm end of March that melts in a few days.

I bet the bumps were nice.  I bet razors stayed nice….raining here in the A for the last hour or so.

When I drove away at 10:45am it was 55 degrees and I put the AC on in my car.  I should have skipped the upper body under armor and just worn a t shirt under my jacket

I’ve been pretty good about not getting fast food much this ski season but I was so sweaty and gross after skiing I got chic fil a…was elite as always…I just got the 8 nugget combo that would be a light snack for @Dirtwolf their buffalo sauce is Buss’n

2 runs down Barneys, the first one was without rain and the second  with. First one was great and second which was the last before bailing not so much. I was amazed at how slick it got with just a few minutes worth. Did Coming soon Ditch twice which was awesome 4 runs but a lot nicer than expected.

I was driving down Blue Mountain drive feeling a little disappointed but saw a bus inbound ,bad  timing. I wasn’t planning on going up today but got a job done early.

A couple places have dirt bleeding through but good coverage although the usual seasonal brown tint.

I'm pretty sure this is the set of houses off hidden canyon. I've never had issues but this dude has a chair and is calling out Ikons so clearly he desperately needs to get laid but pretty fucking funny.

Dude’s obviously a disgruntled park rat , look at the pants he’s wearing. A non riding Boomer wouldn’t know anything about Ikon.

I was. There was a documentary on about an excavation in England...on the battle field where the Romans invaded the British back in ancient times. They found a Chariot and a sword. How cool

The “Time Team “ show is dedicated to excavations in England. They don’t always find a lot but the interactions between competing teams is entertaining.

  12. I’ve blown off lots of work this week and it was totally worth it. Two mid winter mornings and today. Got to the mountain later than I wanted 1:45 but in time for Barneys to soften to perfection.

First couple on Barneys 10/10 then hit Challenge and then Coming soon. They gave coming soon a whole lot of love. Besides the ditch being back there’s an upper ditch. Lots of new snow around the upper gun towers that have some fun ups and downs.

Tons of racers on the mountain and a race on the school hill. The busses were rolling in like crazy. After spending the rest of the day on Barneys I bailed at 4:45

Nightmare is still a work in progress with a few cookies lol.
