    17/18 Season Update

draft beers last season were $4. thats domestics like yuengling, miller light, coors light. others like corona were 4.50 and some drafts like dogfishhead 90 minute were 7.50. which is actually really reasonable for 90 minute. The best deal was two seasons ago. 16 oz coors light cans for 2.50. that was popular. last year the best deal was $5 budweiser aluminum 16oz bottles.

That fence is NOT going to go over well with the tailgating crowd...

    TP4 rides Vermont

I've looked at several topographical maps and Google earth and the only way you can ski 1000 ft of vert is if you hike up higher than the lift and somehow skied all the way to the bottom of the village of four seasons. There is no run at elk that requires two lift rides to reach 1000 vert feet. Every trail can be accessed from every lift, except the beginner hill and West slope which only goes about 30%up the mountain. Elks claims of 1000 are misleading to say the least. 1000 sounds more like Vermont than "925" I guess but it's not honesty advertising!
  4. Looks nice. Too bad they are closing today.
  5. Sunday would be employee party which is skiing for employees only
  6. I'm getting back from Florida tomorrow and will be heading up elk for spring carnival. I'll try to take some pics. Woods should be great.
  7. Elk has been making snow round the clock since Thursday night. This weekend of cold is really going to help them get through the next few weeks. It was 14 degrees when I left work at 2pm and the guns were roaring.
  8. Looks like they are blowing snow and anticipate being open this weekend
  9. Saw the snow crew walking down the mountain last night when I was leaving work...as I have said in other threads, elk has a nice base on their main trails. I'm confident they will make it to march 23 which is day 100, and probably through that weekend. Cold cold temps the next few nights too so the snow making will productive. Pics from Feb 28 so right before this last bit of rain.

    Elk 2/17

I was up there yesterday. No brown spots whatsoever, no ice, no running water. Snow was soft as slushy but consistent and the base on the main trails (night trails) looks like it can stand the test of time. Hopefully at least until march 23 which is their 100th day that they strive for.

    Elk 1/14

Elk does allow tailgating as long as it doesn't get too too carried away but everyone is usually just chilling. Most drafts at the bar are 5.50 or 6.

  15. I'm thinking of going this afternoon with my girlfriend.she is a beginner. I think tannenbaum is considered a blue but does anyone know for sure? I think she would be able to handle it. I remember it being pretty flat and reports are saying everyone is hanging out on freedom anyway.
  16. I hiked elk yesterday 11/21 and skied. There was about 9 inches of snow with wind blown spots deeper. Word up there is still shooting for early December opening. I would guess Tuesday 12/6 based off of past years
  17. Wednesday is college day so I think it's cheaper rates if you are a student
  18. Postponed most things canceled some. And I just drove by, looks like I was wrong about Tunkhannock there is no snow on it
  19. If I had to guess they will open with Susquehanna, Tioga, upper and lower Tunkhannock, east west and bunny trail. But they have been blowing like crazy so potentially with more terrain than that.
  20. This is my 10th season working at elk. The sad part is they did update their website. It was even worse a year or two ago. I know for a fact they are not open before Saturday 12/26. That day is the absolute earliest although if I had to guess I would say Tuesday 12/29 because for some reason elk doesn't do weekend openings.

    Zee Lights

Elk has quite a bit of snow made. I think they will be able to open the 9th like they plan. They have been blowing whenever temps permit since the 22nd
  22. Just always thought it made the most sense to do boulder gives back before Thanksgiving but I guess the other holidays aren't far off
  23. I live about 2 miles from Elk. The lights are on and the guns are blowing, although they dont plan to open tenatively till december 9. Montage, on their facebook page, said they would be blowing tonight. Im hoping with 3 nights in a row of cold temps we can maybe be skiing blue or BB on black friday
