  1. Wow, it seems just like yesterday. Hard to believe it's been 12 years already!
  2. Actually it is now the 9th. The pope was upset there was still a beef in 2015 between skiers and snowboarders so GOD pushed it back to the 9th as punishment. In all seriousness though, the forecast is actually looking decent.
  3. Longest I ever waited in line was about 45 minutes if I recall for the quad. This was before the six pack was there and I think on President's weekend. Was probably a Sunday because back then I didn't have a season pass and got a pass through the ski club at school for Sunday's. I just remember the place was beyond packed and ski patrol was taking people out left and right.
  4. That will get you banned as a sacrifice to the snow gods.
  5. Went to breakfast with my mom this morning. She asked if Blue was open. I looked at her like she had 3 heads.
  6. Is God still saying January 3rd for Blue? I'm starting to think I'm responsible for this weather. I'm putting up a pole building at the car lot. I've been working on it since August but the township is being a bunch of pricks with their demands. I've got $4,300 into fancy drawings for a building that is $11,600 to put up. Some of the demands I know could have been challenged but the lawyer I went to didn't have a back bone to fight it. At the end of September I was worried I wouldn't be able to pour the concrete floor because of it getting cold outside. Everyone kept saying, "Well if the weather stays this nice it won't be a problem." Well, my building still isn't up yet and I think the weather is just holding out so that I can pour my concrete floor. Bad news for you guys is the zoning officer is demanding I plant trees over my underground utilities and the power company said no no. Now the zoning officer is trying to tell me I need to re-locate my electric service and other underground utilities. So it looks like I'm at a road block again. I'm looking for a new lawyer to speed things up. I apologize for the inconvenience but I really want my floor poured ASAP.
  7. The problem is when it gets "cold" the lows are only around 27 to 29 degrees. That's marginal for making snow and those temps will probably be reached very early in the morning for a very short period of time, which means little time for snowmaking. Then during the day it warms up to melt whatever little bit of snow was made. As time goes on I'm starting to think this is the first time in history a long term forecast was accurate.
  8. You can make snow at any temperature using liquid nitrogen. It's just very expensive and why it isn't done.
  9. Bear Creek on the news today: http://www.wfmz.com/news/news-regional-berks/Unseasonably-warm-weather-taking-toll-on-ski-resort/36901174
  10. I saw that about a week ago too. Place was empty when I drove by at like 7pm. I bet their business is way off.
  11. I still have my grass skis. I should start renting them out until it snows.
  12. Ask him what year. 2016 isn't looking too good at this point lol
  13. How about at Mount Mik?
  14. Yes, my health insurance from Highmark went up about 25% for next year too. People who work for a company that pays for their health insurance don't appreciate it enough as far as I'm concerned. If a company also pays for a family, that is one nice perk and these days something you don't see often. Without making things political, if someone tells me they can't afford to buy health insurance and therefore shouldn't be required to have it, my response is then how do you expect to pay the hospital bill? If you think several thousand dollars for health insurance is unaffordable, I'd love to hear how you plan on paying for a broken leg or open heart surgery.
  15. A few years back I had a carpet and upholstery cleaning business going for some side money. Insurance for it was about $750 a year or so. Probably the cheapest business insurance you'll come across. I think I had $1 million dollars coverage or it might have even been $2 million. So a janitorial business should be pretty close to that. A bond if you need it can be bought from an insurance company. The price will likely be based on your credit score. I have excellent credit and I have a $30,000 bond for my car dealership (state requirement). I pay like $185 per year for it. I can get it a little less but I just get it from my insurance company to make things simple. Arbor Insurance like Doug said is pretty much a one stop shop. My mom's aunt used to work in the office there. I've dealt with Bruce Kraft from Arbor before and he's a nice guy to work with. In my opinion, they are a little on the expensive side, but since they are a broker for tons of insurance companies they can shop around for you or find you insurance for hard to insure businesses that nobody else will touch. But anyway, this weather is crazy. I was working outside all day today and it felt like late September or early October. Only nice thing about it is it saves money on heating.
  16. Doesn't BC have a thing where if they aren't open a certain amount of days they partially refund your season pass?
  17. Yup, that's who it was: http://www.paskiandride.com/forums/topic/17744-lights-we-dont-need-no-stinkin-lights/?hl=%20don#39;t%20%20need%20%20stinkin
  18. Easter is March 27th next year. if the weather holds they will probably close the 26th.
  19. Yeah, I still got those haha. They are antiques now.
  20. I don't have a personal car any more. I just throw a dealer tag on whatever car in my inventory that I feel like driving. No sense paying for car insurance twice.
  21. For the past few nights the lights have been off. Stoke market is in correction mode. No sense lighting the place up if it's going to be too warm to make snow.
  22. Since it's a lousy rainy day I will post a non-skiing picture. This 2015 BMW I8 sold today at the Manheim New Jersey Auto Auction (Bordentown) for $120,000.
  23. Just out of curiosity does anybody know when the latest opening at blue was? GSS?
  24. I know you can't put much faith in a long range forecast but it isn't looking too good for Blue last time I checked. Looks even worse for BC as usual.
