  1. Driving home tonight I see blue has the lights on. Either they are getting ready to make snow or night fishing started. The season is getting closer.
  2. Ski Instructors painting benches for no pay? Freaking Obama!
  3. My mother was telling me today she saw blue tubing tickets on groupon.
  4. Unless this is referring to a woman lol Will BC open this year or will we have to wait until after the new year rolls around?
  5. I agree with this logic and have said the same thing for years lol. When they wanted to raise the speed limit to 70 people were complaining that it will only encourage people to go faster. I honestly disagree with that.
  6. Yesterday in New Tripoli there were some flakes of snow falling when I was cutting grass.
  7. I thought of this thread Sunday when I was at Oktoberfest at Sands Bethworks. Bear Creek had a space setup for advertising. Ironically, right next to them was Scherline and Associates Attorneys at law for wrongful injury. I was gonna be a prick and walk up to the people at Scherline and say, "Excuse me, I was tubing at Bear Creek this past winter when my tube flipped on their smokin' fast tubing track when I got hurt. What can you do for me?"
  8. I wish I had gray hair. I'm actually losing mine haha. Can't make no promises. Every time I say I'm going back it never happens. I do miss it and I'm sure blue looks much different now than the last time I was there. I think 2008 was last time I went skiing. Crazy how long its been.
  9. All new cars are required to have rear back up cameras after either 2015 or 2016. They are nice for helping you back up when you can't see. Especially when you are parked between two cars. But some are not 100 percent accurate perception wise....as I almost found out in a Ford Fusion last year at my lot. I was backing one up and was just using the camera to line up square with the car behind me. When I stopped backing up, I thought I had about 18" or 24" between the cars based on what the camera showed. Got out and I'm lucky if I had 3". Almost ended up buying or repainting two bumpers lol. From then on I only use the cameras as a guide when I can't really see. IMHO there is no substitute for physically turning around to look. Just got back from a family birthday and fall is definitely in the air. Got nice and chilly once the sun went down. Won't be much longer.
  10. Yes, but any time the insurance company has to pay out they will look for any reason to drop you or jack up your rates. When you try to find another insurance company they will ask or found out about any recent or past litigation. Insurance companies love to take your premiums but they absolutely hate to pay out. I'm sure Bear Creek will file an appeal.
  11. Beat me to it, but my thoughts exactly. It's idiots like this guy that make prices so high.
  12. According to the news an Amtrak train has derailed in Philly. http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/local/Amtrak-Derailment-Philadelphia--303536331.html
  13. Since this thread got hijacked from a TR to a car thread, let me just say that I had someone finance through Diamond FCU not that long ago and it was a joke. Normally if someone wants to finance outside the dealership you give them a bill of sale and send them on their way to get a check. Not with Diamond! Customer calls me a few days later saying the credit union needs me to send them a copy of the front/back of the title, a copy of my dealer license, carfax copy, and some other nonsense. Finally over a week later they cut the customer a check so I could deliver the car. People just need to finance through the dealership so there are no hassles and we can get a kickback from the bank
  14. School hill (or whatever its called) at the summit lodge has a rope tow unless they changed it. If your son is really young it might be best to go to the valley where they have the magic carpet or that little triple chair. Burma in my opinion isn't the ideal place to learn, especially on a crowded weekend.
  15. Main Street is looking really good. It just keeps looking better every time I look at the cam.
  16. Actually, I was under the impression that PA's best mountain was building PA's best fishing pond...
  17. All I know about Alpine Mountain is that is where they launched that stupid balloon to look for Eric Frein.
  18. Apple Hill in Orefield used to be a nice small local hill...or so I'm told. It closed before I was born.
  19. Someone better message Rajeev. I think he may be interested in this stuff...
  20. I think it is probably more of a liability issue than any thing else why they leave the lights on. Think about it. What stops some bozo from trespassing after hours to make some turns? Sure, the guy is trespassing and in the wrong but when he gets hurt that won't stop some ambulance chaser lawyer from making the case that the mountain had lights and should have had them on. When you are making snow you definetly need those lights on. The guns on one trail alone make white out conditions, especially when it is windy. The guy making snow might have a head lamp but that won't do much for him, especially when walking on rocks along side the trail. Now when they have the lights on the past few weeks all night long when they have no snow on the trails or any chance of making snow, then I think that is a waste unless they have the mountain crew doing maintenance prior to making snow. For what it is worth, I can see both BC and Blue from my yard. All winter long they both leave their lights on all night. Heck, these days I own a used car dealership. I guess I'm foolish for lighting up my display area all night and wasting money. The state says I only need to light my lot up if I am open for business when it is dark outside for customers to see the vehicles. But after I close I think it's a good idea to leave the lot lit so I don't become an easy target for thieves and vandals. Plus it helps the infared lights on the security cameras to see better
  21. Cole always made this place great! I left around the same time he did. I'll always remember the funny posts he made and the PM's we sent back and fourth occasionally. He was a great guy and it's too bad I never got to meet him in person. I remember 10 years ago I joined the Camelback forum a short time after it was created. That's where I met everyone like Adam, Jeff, Greg, Nick, Cole, Missy, DHarrisburg, Schif(dawg), etc.Things were pretty good there but then the Dave's started censoring stuff, especially when you said something negative about CB or talked about other mountains. That eventually lead to a revolt and I vaguely remember Adam (skidude) telling me on AIM that a lot of them were going to revolt on the forum later that night. By the time I got home that night most of them got banned and that's when Greg and Jeff started "The Real CB" forum which by the end of that year became PASR. Good times Speaking of the Dave's, I wonder what ever happened to DaveK and DavieJ? My avatar here is what DaveK used to have on the camelback forum. I remember when I posted it as a joke on here ski999 was having flashbacks haha
  22. OG but turned out like Greg, hardly ski any more
