Ride I think this was supposed to be directed at me. I've heard that Whiteface can be cold and icy, hence the nickname of "iceface", but I've never heard that it gets repetitive. Interesting to hear. Ill probably put Whiteface/Lake Placid on the back burner for a family/couple trip. I guess ill have to choose between Killington and Stowe and at the moment would lean towards Killington. Is Stowe that much better than Killington? If so please say so! I'm probably putting too much thought into this in regards to Stowe... but after a quick glance at the trail map it seems that half of the mountain is served by only a double, triple and quad chairlift. I'm not too worried about cost if I'm only going to a single mountain, only if I take a longer "ski-fari". Thanks for the feedback.

I saw this on Alpinezone and thought it was pretty cool. I also found it interesting and smart to blow snow on those 3 trails and eventually open with (2) lifts. Should help spread out the early season crowds.

Cool I would definitely recommend going for a day or two. I also loved it because snowboarding was kind of born there and has a rich history in snowboarding. Keep in mind its a lot of Greens and Blues. Right from their website... Trail Classification Novice 41% Intermediate 31% Advanced 17% Expert 11%

I had a blast at Stratton last year.

Trying to figure out where I want to take a short trip this season; Whiteface, Killington or Stowe. Any opinions on which you prefer and why? While I am a member of the dying breed known as a park rat , terrain parks dont really factor in to which mountain I would choose. Mainly vertical, lifts and snow quality is what im looking for. I would go during the week so crowds shouldn't factor in too heavily. There's a very small chance I plan a week long trip and hit all (3) going from WF-Stowe-KT. More than likely a little out of my budget though. I appreciate your opinions.

Yea that seems a little late. I'm hoping to ride Mount Snow the first weekend of November... I think that's reasonable...?

Good info thanks. I assumed they would have big crowds early season if they're one of the only players open. I love Mt Snow and look forward to doing early/late season trips there.

Just spoke to a superintentdent on one of my projects at work about the upcoming ski season. He said his son is going into his senior year of high school and will be going away for college so he's going all out this season. Starting with a WROD trip to Killington and has a surprised trip to Utah planned. Were going to meet up this season for a day or two so I'm looking forward to that. He said he'll have to act like he doesn't know me since I'm a snowboarder...

Understood. I do have confidence in the Mt Snow date though. haha

was this to my post? If so those were the dates both mountains opened last season. (give or take a couple days because I matched to the nearest weekend).
