  1. Hopefully some great spring bump skiing this weekend!
  2. Just checked and they're putting down some snow!
  3. Son was up and said conditions were great, no bare spots and plenty of snow left. Of course, with spring temps this weekend that all can change in a hurry.
  4. Probably having way too much fun and loathing a return to this crappy weather...
  5. In case you're planning on venturing up. To clarify, they will be closed all day tomorrow, Wed. Is there any way to edit a topic heading?
  6. You must have miracle feet! I've never been able to buy a boot off the rack and not end up with a hot spot or two that required footbeds, punching, etc. to fix.
  7. Run of the day was definitely Challenge. After lunchtime, temps continued to rise and the sun started burning through the haze just enough to soften everything up to match yesterday's conditions, perhaps even a bit better. Skier's right of Challenge turned into a full on natural bump field, with skier's left a 157 hero bump run from top to bottom. Spent pretty much the entire afternoon lapping Challenge bumps. Somewhere around 4-4:30 see MBike Mike riding up the 6 with his tele's on and called him over. Mad props to Mike for running au natural Challenge in his tele's! That definitely was work!
  8. I don't know about the skyshot, but I know they ditched the roller coaster for some claw thing that hangs you over the edge. Was the only reason I went to the Stratosphere.
  9. Yeah, late 80's early 90's Remember the armband season passes with the blacked-out barcode? I probably still have mine laying around somewhere. I rode the roller coaster and skyshot at the top of Stratosphere in Vegas before they got rid of them. Both were wild! I love amusement park rides, but rest of family doesn't as they make them sick.
  10. Presume sarcasm on every post and you'll be much better off...
  11. Yeah, they didn't do the pre-season passes back then. Geez, I think I paid $250 for my first season pass. I was referring to general ticket prices.
  12. Yeah, I heard much the same. I've seen him 2-3 times this year. I think he comes up more in the afternoons with his son. I don't think Bear has any good bumps, so now that his son's a bit older, he comes up to Blue for the bumps. I think the kids like it far more than the adults for obvious reasons. If they run it the same as other years, it depends on how many kids are in her age group as they'll do duals and if she wins, she keeps moving up. Again, depending on how many enter, so goes the standing around. Don't be bitter, it's been a bad year weather-wise all year. It's the East, ski what you're given, make the most of it and have fun doing it! After all, a day on the slopes is better than a day at work!
  13. I recall it only being advertised on the pre-season purchase blurb. As GSS said, I believe they've been putting it out the same time every year. It used to be with Ray, he would wait until all the mountains in the area announced their prices and he'd set the price a dollar or so beneath theirs. Wouldn't surprise me in the least that if Camelback announced theirs, Blue just followed suit so as to not lose those thinking about switching.
  14. I don't think Chris ever had a hand in it other than competing. The comp was all Johnny's doing. Now it's actually the BMR that's responsible for it.
  15. They had it on there a couple of years back, turned out great, save the conditions. They never seem to get good weather, always concrete bumps. Since it's less steep than Challenge, more kids took part. The times they had it on Challenge, the run was incredibly hard and people got injured on the jumps. I recall trying to break up the landings so that there was some semblance of soft landing, but nothing helped. Most kids didn't even want to attempt the run on Challenge. It's more of an interest in moguls event than an actual competition. Pitch is pretty bad. Hopefully they'll blow a big mound at the top so you don't have to push your way down. They won't even bother, maybe Johnny's kid will compete. Haven't seen Chris all that much this year up at Blue.
  16. Surely there'll be a civil lawsuit... Cha-ching!
  17. While arranging a new BMW delivery schedule?
  18. I refuse to utter those words about that trail .
  19. From what I'm told, there are a number of reasons why it's taking place on the learning slope. Having it on a slope far less steeper than Challenge allows for children to participate safely and build interest is one of them. We're constantly requesting that it be held on old Raceway, but they say the mountain doesn't want to close a slope for the event.
  20. Squall line just came through, it was dumping rain in buckets. Probably why they beefed up the base and blew snow this past weekend in expectation of this monsoon.
  21. Yeah, unfortunately location is less than optimal for adults but good for the kids that'll be participating...
  22. Not a raffle, but one of those "Person showing first pack of matches wins..." Picked up a hat and t-shirt as well. Unfortunately later in the day the quad bit it. Bob said it was down for at least the rest of the day. Didn't get the poop as to why though.

I thought Switchback was the best. Every time I rode it, I had the entire slope to myself.
